  1. Happy 40th Birthday A10by2010!

  2. Hi there... Good luck on your surgery. He really is a great guy. I'm going in for my first fill today and I'm really excited. Best of luck and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Rosa
  3. Hey A,

I forgot you went to Lawrence Hosp also. How did your prodecure go? Who did it? And whats the deal with the optifast shakes, do you HAVE to buy them? what else did you get to eat or drink on the pre-op diet? I know this is alot of questions...

  4. Hey Kim,

What's going on? How did the insurance thing go? Did you call?

I'm ok, I kind of stopped losing weight which is weird. I've lost a total of 24 lbs which is good but it's frustrating to not see the scale move when you are eating hardly anything.

I look forward to hearing how you're doing. Are you going to the support group meeting at lawrence on wednesday?

    Let me know

    Rosa

  8. Hi Kim

Well its taken a week but I feel great. I went for my 1 week postop and I lost 18lbs!!!!!! The food is starting to gross me out and I stare at people eat like a starving child but the weight loss is worth it.

Any word from your insurance? I ended up calling myself to find out, why don't you try that.

Good luck with it and let me know.

    First taste of "real" food!

Yes...the magic bullet is a life saver. I puree my food in seconds and you can store the food in the container your puree it in....a must have for us banditos...

    A meal idea

I'm sure I'm the zillionth person who's mentioned this but I'm 5 days post op and I'm SOOOO sick of Soup. I made a scrambled egg white and really made it into tiny pieces then put ketchup on it to help it digest. It worked perfectly and it was pure Protein. Feeling something with texture in my mouth was very nice:tt1:. If anyone has any other "fun" meal idea's please share....I need all the help I can get!!

    Food Diary

Hi, I just read your food diary and was wondering how you're able to fit so much in the day. My meal "serving size" is a medicine dosing cup. How much do you eat at each serving and how often...thanks for helping because today is the first day (banded 5/14) that I'm really hungry.
  13. Hello, I was banded on May 14, 2009 by Dr, Ahmed in Lawrence hospital, Bronxville, NY. He is a kind, gentle and very professional surgeon who tells it like it is. When I had my preop appointment with him I went loaded with a ton of questions and he patiently answered each and every one. On day of surgery he came to my bedside preop and held my hand to reassure me. I think he's an awesome doctor and encourage anyone to see him.

    May 14th Surgery Stories

Hello everyone, I too was banded on 5/14. I got to the hospital at 8am and was scheduled for 10. They began prepping me at 9:30...blood work, blood pressure, temp, circulation stockings...ect. Around 10 they wheeled me to the OR. I gave my husband a kiss goodbye and that's when it hit me. I started crying and got really scared. They took me to the OR which is a long blue cold hallway. I laid there for 20 minutes alone until someone came out to get me. I was wheeled in and had to slide into the bed. I then made my doctor promise me that I would wake up. Once he promised I felt better. The last thing I remember was the mask over my face. I woke up in recovery and I felt like CRAP. I had to cough so bad but my incisions hurt so bad. They gave me pain meds which knocked me out. I then went into a regular room for about 2 hours and they let me go home. Since I've been home I've been having a hard time breathing. I actually feel the band when I take deep breathes. I called the dr and he told me it's to be expected because it touches the diaphram. It got so painful I called back today and they made me come into the hospital for some tests. They wanted to rule out slippage so I had to take the barrium test. DISGUSTING!! you drink a nasty tasting liquid while they watch it go down via an xray machine. I took lots of blood and a few regular xrays and Thank God everything is ok. I'm still very uncomfortable but I hope that will go away soon. Does anyone else feel their band when they breath?
