Thank you so much! That's not something I hear often so now I'm blushing :mad2: -
I know we are only supposed to weigh ourselves once a week at most, but I find myself jumping on there just about every morning. Anyone else? When I weighed myself this morning, it said 252, which would mean I have lost 20 lbs...but I realize that it was my morning weight, without any food or liquids in my body...so I won't believe that number until it sticks around a little

Thanks, I just figured out how to get my pic in my sig since my computer was freezing everytime I tried to upload a pic! Now I need to just make it smaller. Anyone?? lol

So what new things have you eaten since your appt? I need to go to the store so I have only had scrambled eggs so far. Can't wait to load up on supplies! :cursing: -
Great job!!! Keep it up!!

As most of you know, I was banded 5/12. Yippee! A few days before the surgery, I felt myself wrestling with a lot of emotions. I kept wondering if I was doing the right thing or if I was taking a way drastic step. I felt like I had never really given dieting a shot and should have tried a liquid diet (or something like it) before considering surgery. Of course, in reality, I have tried dieting here and there-low carb/Atkins, low calorie/low fat, phentermine...I always lost a little weight and gained much more back. So, I think it was nerves trying to talk me out of the surgery last minute. I told myself that my insurance would never have approved the surgery if I didn't need it. Post op, I honestly felt ashamed to be walking around the hospital recovering from a surgery that I needed because of my weight. (It didn't help that the care I received was less than superior.) The only other time I've been in the hospital before was to give birth to my two beautiful babies, so I guess it just felt wierd to be there and not have a tiny baby to show off. After you have a baby, people smile at you knowingly and say congrats, what are they suppsed to say to you after you have bariatric surgery?? Hope you lose weight?? lol I guess it was at this time that I admitted to myself that I am obese. I always knew I was overweight and got bigger as the years went on, but I don't think I ever really let myself see just how big I let myself get. I guess that sums it up right there, I am embarrassed that I let myself get this heavy. I remember telling myself in high school that I wanted someone to shoot me if I ever got to 200lbs! I've made this surgery such a secret too, only telling a limited number of friends and family, because I am too embarrassed. I just want them to see me after I lose weight and be surprised But keeping it secret has just added to the emotions I'm feeling right now I think. I feel like I can't let people know that I'm recovering from a surgery and may have a little pain here and there. Anyway, I'm just venting but wondering if anyone else has experienced any of these emotions. Thanks

A spot for us to post our daily intake, if we so desire :rolleyes2:

I am so sorry you have had such a rough time. I really really hope it gets better for you! I can't believe how different the experience has been from person to person. I guess it's kind of like childbirth!

What is falafal? Also, you are a size 14 to start??? Lucky! -
I don't know, really, other than that everything I did consume was very spaced out throughout the day. So I think I pretty much took about an hour to drink every item on my list, except the protein shot, which is in one of those little vial thingees, and all "meals" were hours apart. Even with all of that "food", I went to bed VERY hungry.

I have the Realize band and next week when I go to my follow up appt, they will give me some code thingee so I can access special features on the Realize Website.

Sorry for your experience but I can completely understand why you did this. Thank you for sharing :rolleyes2:

Favorite foods you are missing or think you will miss...

I love all the replies! Keep em coming!! Yesterday, I made the kids one of those bag skillet meals with twirly noodles, chicken and veggies...OMG did it smell good! All the garlic butter goodness as it cooked! That took some restraint! I also had to refrain from taking a big chomp out of the cheddarwurst I had cut up for my lil boy yesterday. SO tempting! Then tonight, I made cheese pizza for the kids and the smell called to me ALL night!! I would have loved to have torn in to a piece of it! I wonder how much everyone is eating. Today was kind of a low Protein day for me, I need to try and make sure I get a little bit more in each day. Please take a look at my food journal if you have a chance. Thanks! -
I knew what you meant, but it just struck me funny! You are a comedian and you didn't know it! :grouphug:

Talk about piggy!) McDonald's cheeseburgers, Runza swiss mushroom sandwiches -Mac and cheese -PB and banana sandwiches The list could go on....and on.... -
Keep your chins up? LOL As in double chins?? LMAO
-
I was also wondering the same thing this morning...and then it happened! It didn't take too much effort and it was pretty ample (sorry!) but very smelly. (sorry again!) I am assuming that the reason I went so frequently in the past is because I was eating way more than my body really needed and all the extra waste was released, if you will. Now that we are eating less and our bodies actually need what are eating, our BM's will be less often. Maybe?

Do you think our dr's will tell us not to ride rollercoasters anymore because of the band? I wonder if the pressure and drops would have any affect on the band at all... Fried chicken...mmmm....sounds good! :hurray:

Kel, Thank you so much for sharing all of these thoughts and emotions going on in your head right now. Reading about how other people are feeling is very helpful. I know just what you mean about that heart to heart you had with your mom. It was something that I had never wanted to talk about with my parents before, or even my husband really. A very taboo and sensistive subject with me. Hopefully now I can open up to people a little more and actually let them help me. Most people I know do know that I am on a diet, but they don't know about the surgery. I may choose to tell people down the line, but we'll see.

Thank you thank you SO much to everyone for your wise words. So much of what you are saying makes TOTAL sense. There are definitely things that naturally thin people, or people who have never had to worry about their weight, just can't relate to. I actually had a dream last night about eating a subway sandwich! I felt SO guilty and then was relieved when I woke up and realized I hadn't actually eaten it! lol I told my husband about it and he kind of looked at me like I was crazy! ha By the way, if anyone wants to find me on facebook, my name is Cyndi Hevi-just don't post any public messages about the surgery please, as not everyone knows. Thanks!

Sounds like you had a great experience! Congrats on your banding!
-
Thank you. It's really nice to know that I am not the only one feeling this way. Good for you for being strong when going out to eat and not ordering what you really wanted!

Thank you for your kind words. I know it will get better over time. I can't believe that nurse gave you her opinion about what she thought you needed or didn't need. Very unprofessional!
