Hello everyone, In a bit if a pickle and I was hoping that someone might have advice. I'll first start with saying that I recently moved to Los Angeles and trying to find a new band doctor here (then I can properly discuss my issues with him/her) At a friends birthday dinner a week and a half ago, I bit off a little more than I could chew and had to vomit after dinner. I haven't gotten sick in quite some time, but this episode felt like a doozy. Since then I've felt discomfort in my stomach. Not necessarily a lot of pain, but more of a lot of pressure if that makes sense. I've tried things like Pepto and Gas X but that doesn't seem to being doing much. Even tried Peppermint tea. I'm not sure if my stomach/esophagus got bruised during my episode but I thought it would have healed by now. At this time I don't have a problem keeping anything down, and haven't had a vomit episode since. I don't think the band has slipped as that actually happened to me before, 2 years ago. When that happened, I couldn't keep anything down (not even water). Has this happened to anyone? Or does it sound like something else you have read? Like I said, I'm trying to find a doctor but I would appreciate any support xoxo

I am curious as to what's everyone's thoughts on Alcohol with band. Obviously I know that alcohol has many empty calories and sugar and beer has carbonation that isn't well either. But I am curious as to when you first started to introduce alcoholic beverages into your life again. What have your Doctors told you regarding alcohol? Does anyone have a healthier drink of choice?

I think it can depend on the type of protein shake as well. I know my doctor explained to stay away from shakes that had higher carbs/calories.

Congrats on getting cleared!!! I was banded on the 27th as well, but I have to wait an additional week. -
Is it normal to be so tired...

For sure agree with the others! Also are you taking your Vitamins? I am pretty sure that could make a difference as well. -
I am right there with you! Don't worry, I just had a "cheat" myself and totally feel guilty. I just had my band adjusted from a slip and supposed to be on Clear liquids for 3 weeks. I am about 2 weeks there and finally caved today and had some candy :cursing: Blargh. But I didn't go off the deep end and neither did you! We just need to take it one step at a time and remember why we did this in the first place. This quote might sound weird but makes sense when you start losing (I've lost over 100 so far) "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" Be strong!

To be honest my biggest issue that caused the slip was vomiting. If you find yourself vomiting or things getting stuck and you need to make yourself vomit that is a RED FLAG that something needs to change. Either your eating habits or your fill something would need to be fixed. Talking to my doctor as well, he said a food to completely stay away from that has caused many slips for patients (and probably helped lead to mine) is popcorn. I was really sad because I do enjoy popcorn, but for me I've had to add to the "forbidden" list along with rice.

Sorry all of that happened! It doesn't seem like a slip. My band just actually slipped, and during that process I wasn't able to keep down anything (food or liquid). Try being gentle with liquids during this time and I hope you feel better xoxo
