Tight at Dinner Time?
FailureIsntAnOption replied to bambam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I share the same experience as both of you. The one daily meal I get eat with family and it gives me trouble every time. My husband and kids now recognize the look on my face and know when I am in trouble. Some mornings I really struggle when taking my pills. The Water is even difficult to get down. I guess this is our life now and we just need to learn to work around our fickle bands. The one thing I am good at is getting all my water in so I know there is no way I am dehydrated. I do remember my surgeon telling me that there will be times my band seems tighter then other times and I now understand what he was trying to tell me. Good luck to you both. Donna -
Banded 6/12/09 and losing patience!!! Anyone else..
FailureIsntAnOption replied to suthern_gurl83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling a little frustrated too. I do exercise regularly and I'm so tired of the scale not moving. This morning I get on and I'm up a pound. I kinda thought I would lose faster since I have so much to lose but I'm lucky if I lose 1-2 pounds each week. I know I didn't put the weight on overnight and its gonna take time to get it off but I sure wish it would move along at a faster pace. I know the norm for loss with the band is 1-2 pounds each week but I hear of people who lose it without working as hard as I am at keeping active. Any constructive advice is greatly welcomed. Thanks for reading my rant. Have a nice day everyone. Donna -
Hello Jeepman, Welcome. I hope you find these forums as helpful as I have. Good luck to you. Donna

Work Stress
FailureIsntAnOption replied to Ivernous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should consider changing jobs or getting some therapy to perhaps learn how to deal with stress. Obviously this is something you will need to learn to control in order to be successful at losing weight and keeping it off. If at all possible, get up from your desk and take a walk. Do some deep breathing exercises. Best of luck to you. -

I think you should call your surgeon's office about this. -
Hair Loss at an alarming rate - I need help!
FailureIsntAnOption replied to tcbgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am just a few days under 4 months post-op and just last week starting losing a lot of hair. Actually, it was my husband who noticed. I have always shed hair in the shower since my hair is to the middle of my back but now it is coming out like crazy. I'm not too concerned yet since I have very thick hair but it is gross. Everywhere I go I leave hair behind. My doctor has been monitoring my blood levels quite regularly for Iron and thiamine and I am on two thyroid meds. If I just run my fingers through my hair I get a whole hand full of hair. I started on Biotin a few days ago but haven't yet noticed any improvement. I'm sure I am getting enough Protein so there must be another cause. Please let me know how you all are doing in a few weeks. Take care, Donna -
Love affair with food
FailureIsntAnOption replied to southerngal75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Missing food and missing the situations involving food was definitely something I thought about prior to surgery. I believe there is a huge range of emotions to go through when coming to terms with giving up our old lifestyle. What I have learned since having surgery is that I can still enjoy the same situations I did prior to surgery and I can still enjoy food only my food choices must be healthy ones. So far (4 mos. post-op) I couldn't be happier with my decision. Getting banded is the best thing I have ever done for myself. My family has been great and supportive and they are very proud of me. Good luck to you! -
Daily caloric intake
FailureIsntAnOption replied to lessofm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I have. The chocolate ones are very good tasting but they fall a little too short on the protein content to be used as a Meal Replacement. -
Travel Afterward

I could have traveled the next day but everybody is different. I would play it by ear and see how it goes. -
Daily caloric intake
FailureIsntAnOption replied to lessofm3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I fall short on my calorie intake I will add an extra Kellogg's Special K20 protein water. They are 50 calories and 5 grams of protein. -
unclear on exercising
FailureIsntAnOption replied to thereitgoes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow girl! You are an exercise fool. I thought I was until reading this. It sounds like you are very determined to get the weight off. Good for you. I go to the gym 4 days per week and ride my bicycle most nights after work and on my days off of work. I ride anywhere from 10-30 miles, just depends on how much time I have. You go girl:thumbup: -

Change your focus. Go for a long walk, take a nap. Anything that deters you from thinking about food. -
Starting New Life and Terrified
FailureIsntAnOption replied to lingra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh bless your heart. I think everybody goes through what you are feeling. Everything will go just fine. Before you know it you will be living a healthy lifestyle. Do you know that only about 5% of the things we worry about ever even become a reality? Try and focus only on the positive aspect of changing your life for the better. Think how good it will feel to fit into a size you haven't been able to wear for years. Think about all the energy you will have once you lose all that cumbersome weight. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. How can improving ones health be anything but good! Donna:thumbup: -
I'm back after 4 years and need help
FailureIsntAnOption replied to nickie456's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is a huge fear for me. Because I am curious, how much weight did you lose and after reaching your goal did you get completely unfilled? -

Pay it forward clothing exchange
FailureIsntAnOption replied to FailureIsntAnOption's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a few pairs of 22/24 pants and tops (probably more tops). Because I wear my bras until they fall apart, I don't have any of those to offer. -
Marijuana Use After Surgery
FailureIsntAnOption replied to KBates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure of the condition you are describing. Some days my band seems tighter then others, is this what you mean? If so, NO, it does not relieve it. -
Pay it forward clothing exchange
FailureIsntAnOption replied to FailureIsntAnOption's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everybody for the ideas. Keep it coming and with any luck we can get this figured out. I have many ideas swirling around in my head. I guess we will need to contact whoever is in charge of this site for permission. If you all are anxious to move ahead on this feel free. -
Probably. I would call the insurance company and find out what exactly the process is. This way it doesn't feel like they are just throwing something else at you. You will know exactly what to expect. I did not have to fulfill my insurance requirements. I self-paid, therefore eliminating all the hoop jumping. Lucky me though, I'll be making payments on my surgery for as long as it takes to pay off my car loan. It's all worth it though.

Most, if not all insurance companies require a psych. evaluation. I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to.

I suggest until you get your surgeon's approval to begin exercising that maybe you start walking more. I have noticed that the increase of endorphins from my increase in exercising has greatly helped me with symptoms of depression. When I get that nagging feeling to eat something that I know I shouldn't, I try to change my focus by doing something physical. Go outside and walk around the block, take a swim, pick up a book and start reading, anything, just change your focus. Good luck to you!
