Full or stuck?
FailureIsntAnOption replied to june09bandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Delivered- The band is placed right under the breast area so when you are stuck it is in the chest. I have several stuck episodes weekly as well. Today, everything I've tried to eat has gotten stuck and has come back up. I'll tell you though, food is totally unimportant to me now. It's a hell of a way to loose weight isn't it. -

lbndoc, I'm sorry I didn't explain to you.....when you are stuck you feel it right around your chest area. It's like a rock stuck smack dab in the middle of your chest. It will happen almost immediately after swallowing the food. It is an extremely uncomfortable feeling that is unmistakable. -
Considering Lap Band so I joined LBT

Congratulations! You have begun your journey to a happier, healthier you. You have youth on your side as weight seems to come off a little quicker at your age. I too had a sedentary life style prior to surgery but that has all changed for me now. I am 3 months post-op and have lost 54 pounds. I feel great and have so much energy. I work full time at a desk job and now go to the gym everyday after work. Some nights my husband and I ride our bicycles across town and back and then go swimming in our pool. I used to just go home after work and watch tv until bedtime. I haven't watched tv in 3 months. I love my new lifestyle and it helps the weight to come off quicker and at the same time I'm changing my lifestyle so I don't gain the weight back. I'm not gonna tell you I love going to the gym but I do love how I feel after I have worked out. Let yourself work past the sweat and short winded feeling and you will see what I am talking about. As I wind down for bed at night I think back on my day and all I have accomplished and I feel damn good! Be sure to find a good support group. I don't attend a support group persay, but the owner of the gym I go to and the people I have met there are great support for me. Best of luck to you on your journey and remember, failure is NOT AN OPTION. -

Since I get stuck frequently I just wanted to put in my two cents here. If you are stuck, you will know it. -
No weight loss in 3 weeks w/restriction
FailureIsntAnOption replied to arellano8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Arellano8, You very well could be at a plateau, but I think you may just need to increase your exercise to 60 minutes 5 times per week. Try changing up your exercise routine a little too. Maybe sudden bursts of running on the treadmill will help. Your calorie intake sounds like it is right on so long as you are getting enough protein. Just keep working at it, you will break plateau soon. -

You have less to loose then I do, so my weight will come off faster. I think you need to up your calorie intake. If your body believes it is starving it will store fat therefore you will not loose weight. You now need to trick your body so it will let go of fat. Up your calories to 1200 per day and alternate between 1000 and 1200 each day. Try eating more real food and less of the protein shakes. If you find that you still are not getting your 70 grams of protein in then I suggest protein bullets to help you which you can buy online. But, keep in mind that you can only absorb about 20 grams of protein per meal. I also ordered Kay's Naturals protein cereal that I sometimes have for breakfast instead of the muscle milk. The hardest thing for me is to eat chicken because it always gets stuck. I am not a seafood eater which really limits my protein sources. Don't forget eggs are also a good source of protein. I truly believe you just need to adjust your calories and you will start loosing. The reason I asked your age is because I was trying to figure out if you are post-menopausal. That will slow down weight loss also. You are loosing so don't beat yourself up. As long as you loose a pound a week you are right on track. I am a fairly impatient person and will exercise myself hard so that I see a dramatic weight loss. I burn anywhere from 550 to 800 calories daily and eat 1000-1200 daily. Good luck to you! -

How many calories does that add up to? It doesn't sound like you are eating enough. I eat 3 meals each day averaging approx 1000-1200 calories and focusing on Protein. I'm wondering if your body may be in starvation mode therefore holding onto fat. Try this: Breakfast: Protein shake with at least 15g protein Lunch: 1/2 cup Tuna made with lowfat mayo and 1 slice whole wheat bread. Dinner: chicken breast or fish w/ 1/2 cup veggies. try eliminating your Snacks and substitute with Special K protein Water 2x day. You can find this at Walmart for sure. Some grocery stores are starting to carry it also. Try walking briskly for 60 minutes daily. How old are you and what is your weight? -

I self paid so I had my surgery done in Mexicali Mexico by Dr. Alberto Aceves. My care was really awesome. Make sure you get 70 grams of protein in each day and drink 64 oz. of water or more. What type of workout are you doing? I go to curves 4 times per week and bicycle for 2+ hours 3 times per week. My total weight loss so far is 54 pounds. I had my surgery April 17, 2009. When and where did you have your surgery? -
No weight loss in 3 weeks w/restriction
FailureIsntAnOption replied to arellano8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same way. I can go for three weeks and not see any weight loss. I work out almost everyday. I have to believe that it is because we are building lean muscle and loosing fat that we are not seeing the results on the scale. After three weeks of no weight loss suddenly I had a 17 pound drop. Hang in there it will happen for you too! -

Violent diarrhea help!!

Keep in mind if you were given antibiotics to prevent post surgery infection, it is more than likely the antibiotics causing the diarrhea. -
Dont like your pre-op diet? try Isopure!
FailureIsntAnOption replied to MsFab1988's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a case of Isopure for my post-op and was not able to handle the taste or the floaties. Just goes to show you just how much different each persons taste is. I don't recommend buying by the case. Buy a couple bottles and try it first. -
64 oz of water???? scheduled eating times?
FailureIsntAnOption replied to crg2cng's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had trouble getting all my water down for the first couple weeks after surgery. Once you start exercising it gets easier because you get more thirst. Hang in there, it will happen. -

Too tight? Not keeping liquids down...
FailureIsntAnOption replied to redhead722's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds to me like your stomach is still in spasms from the fill and that is probably what the gurgling is about. You may be too tight and need some fill taken out. -
hypothyroidism and hiatal hernia
FailureIsntAnOption replied to CantB2noty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hypothyroidism is nothing to mess around with and if left untreated can cause serious complications or death. If I were you I would schedule an appointment with an endocrinologist as soon as possible. I would not take my surgeons word for it and weight loss is not going to kick it back in gear. In fact, taking thyroid meds will probably jump start your weight loss. Hypothyroidism is not caused by being overweight. Your surgeon has no idea what he is talking about. It is an autoimmune disease. If your thyroid is that low, it's any wonder you have any energy at all. -
"doesn't look like you're losing any weight"
FailureIsntAnOption replied to firefly71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people are so ignorant or perhaps it's jealousy. Whatever it is, it's their problem and you are loosing so just smile and walk away. -

FailureIsntAnOption replied to bobbiezhere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Bobbie, I struggle to eat normal food. I tend to take too big of bites and not chew enough. I get stuck quite often because of this. Don't worry, you wont be able to eat like you used to. Where did you have surgery? Donna Banded 4/17/09 lost 54 pounds to date. -

Banded 6/18/09 - Looking for a support buddy
FailureIsntAnOption replied to kimsmif's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I will be your buddy if you like. My name is Donna and I was banded in Mexicali, Mexico on 4/17/09. I have lost 54 pounds and have had two fills. The fills are really quick and simple. I actually have had restriction with both my fills but thought if I got the second one maybe I wouldn't get as hungry between lunch and dinner. I don't really notice much changes between the first and second. I do have restriction though. If I forget and take too large of a bite of food I know instantly I have a problem. Such problems are now just part of everyday life and really have made it so that food is very unimportant to me now. Feel free to email me if you would like at donna2153@aol.com I would be happy to be there for you with any questions you may have. FYI: Your port is located at the area of the biggest incision. -
