Randi, Boy I absolutley can relate to your post and feel the pain! Just had my first fill. Can feel the restriction. I wondered if anyone else can feel their tube/port sloshing around? Mine feels like it's got gas bubbles around and I swear I can feel it move. I still have gas pains in my left shoulder - any one else? and what do you do for it?

Nevada, Did you see Dr. Ortiz? He is a wonderful Dr and has a great staff. A friend of mine also had surgery on July 14th I believe but I thought she was the only one. Something about the Dr having to attend a seminar and cancelling all the other surgeries?

Monk, I have a friend, stephanie who is being banded by Dr Ortiz on Friday July 14.... You may see her and her friend Judy by the pool or in the lobby.... Good luck to you.

After reading through most of the boards, it looks like most people DO NOT diet (or change their diet) after being banded. I assumed and will change my eating habits to eat more clean (Sonoma, Michael Thurmond etc) as soon as I can eat solids. My question is, what diet do you follow if any Post Op? If not dieting and you eat all foods you did prior to banding, do you feel healthy and how long did it take to lose the weight? Also, any complications with the band because of food choices? Thanks!

BLJ, I have been drinking Soups from a box, since the 2nd week. I was suppose to drink onlu Clear liquids but found I was going nuts listening to my stomach rumble. I have not eaten anything mushie or solid yet, just creamy Soup. I hope I havent screwed anything up  My first solid meal is Tuesday 7/11 !!!!! My first fill is 8/5/06. Also, I cant feel my port anymore either..... hope it's there somewhere!

AIleen, Dr. Miranda told me Mirida (sp?) was the anti depresesant that they started using as a weight loss drug. She also said to use Wellbutrin if I needed it. No weight gain.

So cal and Liz, I too did it on my own. Met up with 2 other banders when I got there. It would have been nice to have someone in the room when the Dr.s come in to speak to you. I had just taken the pre surgery pill and was a little dope so I didnt quite hear everything..... I'm glad for Dr. Ortiz's diet instructions! I am down 17 pounds the first week! Yoo Hoo........ Liz - The hotel has internet connections for the room and they have a computer in the lobby......

Barbara, I have the same pains in my left shoulder. Just happens, can't figure out what causes it. It's not constant but it does hurt!

Thank you Darrin..... after reading through this board and hearing the different stories I see that you are absolutely right. I dont like that I cant eat creamed soup yet but the weight loss (17 lb today 1 week banded) is a wonderful inspiration to stick to the clear's........ just cant wait for day 22. Wasn't the Ortiz staff wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post-op diet: how long did you do liquids?
stella replied to brittu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did one week of Clear liquids, added yogurt on day 8 and Protein drinks on day 10 - day 22. Solid foods after day 22. I think what Yoda says is true, you have to follow your dr.s orders, it's for a reason. Not that you'll like it. I keep looking at what the others are eating and thinking why cant I I've lost 17 pounds this first week and am very happy about that! -
How long until you were able to work?
stella replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not concerned about the soreness or being tired when I go back to work. I think I could have done that the 2nd day - it's the mental food issue I deal with. It is contantly on my mind! -
Carlene, I hear you! "I smoked thru all the things I shouldn't have...pregnancy, asthma, etc. I just hope no one has photos of me as a nursing mother." <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> I so regret smoking during pregnancy and nursing! i too eventually quit (17 yrs now) and recently started smoking when drinking... bad.....

I noticed this board has a chat room but no one visits! Is there a certain time/day that it is busy? Seems like it would be a great way to get our questions answered quicker!

K, I was banded on 6/20 and have horrible gas pains too. That is from the surgery. They have to blow up your cavity in order to operate. It will go away, you need to walk and if Gasex helps take that. I have not felt depressed but am very hungry and grouchy! I am still on Clear Liquids and will be able to add yogurt tomorrow! Can't wait. I've lost 13 lbs so far. Good luck

Gas pains. Is it food?
stella replied to FunnyDuddies's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Funny, I ate like crazy! I ate dinner at the resturant across from the Lucerna Hotel in Tijuana. Drank lots of beer and ate chips up to 10:00 pm! Have had gas pains since my surgery 6/20. Gas is up in my shoulders! Gasex did not help me ......... Doing lots of walking. -
Wild , Did you ask Dr. Ortiz's office what they charge for fills? I believe they are free, just not sure for how long or how many. As for Dr. Ortiz and his staff, they are excellent! Wonderful experience.... Very clean and the doctors are absolutely gorgeous!
-
EvilMach, Where did you have your surgery? I was also banded on 6/20. Are you starving for solid or at least mushy food? I live in Las Vegas - Northwest and workout at LVAC on Rainbow.......
-
em112, I'm a very quick healer and back on my feet quickly after surgery and was with this one; but, the inability to eat has kept me at home not wanting to be around food becasue I am so hungry for solids. Not sure I would go on vacation when I couldn't even eat salads or drink Protein shakes. Might be kind of grouchy. I flew home the day after my surgery and have been doing all normal house stuff, walking the dogs etc. Feel great except for gas pains in the upper body and rumbley stomach!
-
Bubbly, My band date was 6/20 too and am down 10 lbs. But 20 lbs is great! Keep up the good work.......... Where did you have your surgery?
-
Leila, It's a great picture and it shows how much confidence you have!

OFPS, Where did you have your surgery?

I notice most people saying they are eating mushy or creamed food. I was told very clearly by Dr. Ortiz's nutritionist not to eat/drink anything but clear liquids for the first week and only add yogurt and protein drinks on day 8. I wonder why the big difference in diets? Anyone know? My stomach is so rumbley, I would love something thick!

Me too! I was banded 6/20/06 and would love to be added to the list.
