I was banded in 2009 in July I initially lost 3 1/2 stone but i fell by the wayside...... i havent had an infill as i was topped up too tightly in March 2010 due being unable to eat anything but mush through a jaw problem. But ive put on 6lbs and cant stop this addiction to chocolate. When i was unable to eat i could manage the choc and the biscuits and have become overtime, lazy in what i eat. If I try to eat properly I get "stuckages". But i need to get back on the wagon that ive fell off......... please gimme some guidance.... anyone?! Help!!!!

Hi Guys sorry about that...... having a moment! Welcome to all the newbies. Havent written anything for a while. Work sleep work, you all know the scenario! Anyway, cant remember how to update the ticker and with the pmt cant be bothered either, but lost 25 1/2 pounds now. Having my 2nd infill with Wendy on sunday at 11.15 in London. Desperately need it, been trying to be soo good, been to the gym 3 times each week and spent an hour in the gym followed by 30 mins swimming and jacuzzi and sauna to finish. Never thought i'd admit but i actually am enjoying it.... shush dont tell anyone! :frown: But today I was so good at work then came home with a need for my old favorite sausage egg and chips - and boy did I have some. Made it for all the family and I managed to eat as much as they did. Now i've just ate 2 ice cream wafers and think i should go to bed for fear I might eat summat else! Dont trust myself one bit tonight and no one dared question me lol. Carriejess, well bloody done my girl... bloomin excellent:thumbup: Congrats to you Freckles - what a beautiful grandchild! Garry - looks like your on the up hun, so cool, pleased for you. OI Anitahug, Clara, how you going girls? Right off to bed! Well i'm gonna try it, good book and NO MORE FOOD! Hey Carriejess cant believe you have nearly made it to your goal..... So is it realistic to want to get down to what is termed my ideal BMI and weight. My niece had the op a year ago and hasnt exercised and eats basically whatever she wants but seems to be stuck on 5 stone loss but is still 13 stones. Id like to get reight down to my ideal weight but havent spoken to anyone who's done that..... How long has it taken you and how many fills did you have.... tell me to bog off and mind my own business if ya like :-S. Just intreged and detremined to be good and exercise and be as good as i can be for a food addict. Not under any illusions, it will be hard. My neice didnt even stick to the liquid thing after each band fill. Lisa -

OMG peeps its sunday and 7pm at that, where has the weekend gone? Before I go on, welcome Oliverdog, woohoo Carriejess new you, new life. It's horrid when a relationship ends but hey your stunning and no doubt 100% MORE CONFIDENT! Go and enjoy life sweetiexx Right ramblings of the weekend, had my induction at the gym and realised they have idiots guide switches on all the machine, so I didnt need a degree in computing. But i do need a set of headphones, cos it's all high tech and each bit of equipment has a tv on it and you can change chanels and allsorts. How things have changed. I was bored on each machine after 5 mins so i did another lap on the machines.... go me go me!! Then for a jacuzzi and sauna. Bliss. That was friday. Saturday, I went to London for my 1st fill with Wendy and she was lovely. Had 2 attempts with the needle but hit the right spot on the 2nd go and now I have 3mls in the band and on liquids. Came home last night and the daughter was going out and the bf was having her baby.... until she was brought home at 9.30 p***ed as a fart. Hadnt made it from the friends house and i ended up putting her to bed and undressing her! But she was up at 7.30 this morning for the car boot trawl. So today iwalked around 2 car boot sales, visited my ole ma, and been back to the gym, had a swim and all and then walked both dogs along the beach. Now im knackered and realised that yet again rambling total crap!!!! But to let Homecare know(even thou she's on holiday). That the nether regions were scary as ya like. I'm 45 got grey hair, over weight, wear glassess, have a prothesis ( as Dr C calls it), seen the ads for tena lady and to top it off discovered on friday that with the aid of a mirror, I also have grey in other regions!!!!!! Can it get worse. Oh and I found out what a hollywood is!!! Ramblings over - chat to you all laterz. Lisa xxxxx Lost 23lbs to date Banded on 07/07/09 -

Talk about getting me mad!!!! This is my latest blog on the femail interview with the woman who mearly died having a gastric band........ Piffle!! Destroying the NHS are we, us banders? Are you aware that we pay privately for our operations and our aftercare and in fills for our bands, this in turn reduces the cost to the NHS as our obesity related illness' lessen the more weight we loose. My diabetes has virtually disappeared since my gastric band. I guess that must mean I am a bad person for releasing some of treatment from the nhs and saving them money! I personally have done this 100% for my health and longevity. No, Seriously, well done to those people whom are lucky enough to have the will power to reduce there intake and exercise and loose weight. But it does make me wonder - why are you trying to loose weight if your will power is so strong and how come your big enough to need to loose weight in the 1st place? One of my "large" pals walks past my house each week on her way to diet club and parts with £5 each time. I have known her for 25yrs and she is still the same size. Tell me who's the stupid one! Anyway.... lol ho hum, granddaughter is 9 weeks old now and testing her lungs and her mums patience i think!!! I went to the gym today and I have to say it wasnt sooooo bad. Boredom and repetativeness will get on my tits in the end but i ended the 1 1/2 hr session with a jacuzzi and a sauna - bliss! Off to London tomorrow for the infill let you know how it goes. Well done to all you newbies and good news for you garry. Hope it all goes well.# Lisa xxxxx:thumbup: -

Ok guys - ive messaged the online mail thing about the story mad me cross like most of you i guess.... waiting for it to be cleared. Anyway, ahead of me going for my infill on saturday, thought i'd lie on the bed and have a feel..... ok freckles, nothing dirty i'm afraid....... to try and feel my port, OMG I cant find it! Do you think that Wendy at wls will be able to feel it? Bit worried about that. Waffling now..... my mind wanders lol....... i just had a bit of chocolate and on a sugar rush! :blush:I joined my husbands gym today, I was most disappointed, you have to climb up 2 flights of stairs, have a degree in computer technology to use the equipment and to realised that i need a smaller arse or i'll be wearing those bike/ rowing machine seats like a thong on a models backside! Plus one essential item missing...... i didnt see any water machine nor oxygen machines! Oh well, tomorrow is the day for the grand induction followed by a swim. :bored:That in itself is causing a few probs.. i havent lost enough weight to be able to have a natural view of my nether regions and i would hate to go swimming with some spiders legs hanging out of the cossy! So think of me in the morning contorting myself over a mirror, checking out my 2lb of liver and a bad wig whilst trying to hoist my skirt of fat over my shoulder and give myself a trim!!!! Whilst im on the subject - the gym has a beautician there and i was ready the treatments you can have, 1/2 a leg wax, lip and chin wax, bikini line, a brazillian and OMG a hollywood!!! What the hell is a hollywood????:w00t::biggrin::confused::w00t: Must be an age thing Sorry if your reading this over breakfast! Lisa :tongue:Banded 7th July 2009 :tongue::tongue: -

hi guys, Havent been on in a few weeks - just caught up with the reading the last bsquillion pages! Glad everyone seems to be ok. I've been back at work and now off with bloomin flu! Not too bad, think i have it very mildly. Ive lost 10kg since applying for my band and 5kg since the op.... i did hit a plateau a bit when i went back to normalish food. I'm off to London this weekend on Saturday to have my first fill. Dont know what to expect, and i'm a bit worried in case i dont get any real restriction. Is there a certain amount they put in the first time? Is anyone else going on saturday, my appointment is at 3.30pm. Oh and I've had a tattoo in my old age celebrating my wedding anniversary with my banding date. 07/07/07. Anitahug - hope your feeling better. Take care Lisa BANDED 7th July 2009 -

HI Anitahug, Ahhhh the burping.... mine is the other end and i've had to resort to windease!!!! I had a testing time today after thinking the band was a frigment of my imagination.... I bought 5 large fresh cookies from Sainsbury's and ate 4 in the car on my way home, thought I was ok, as I used to eat the whole bag and then some! Got home and john made me a prawn cocktail, so I ate that too and felt sick as a pig and had to go to bed to recover! OMG Ive tested it to the max, never again! That'll certainly teach me. Hope everyone is OK and enjoying being a looser, I know I am but i'm expecting miracles too soon. Take care peeps xxxxxx -

Hiya Guys, Thanks for the message Gillian, I booked and paid for my 6mths with WLS and have my 1st infill on 15th August in London. I'm a bit less pre menstral today and husband just thinks i'm a little madder than normal all the sharp knives have been put back in the kitchen! My post site is still a bit sore after yesterdays knock and bending in that direction is painful. But no matter, alls good. Lost abit of weight but not much but after reading a few comments on here, I feel a bit more at ease. Thanks Clara for your comments too, glad your doing well too. Has anyone heard from Craig? Wonder about the others have you heard from any of them..... for those reading this, there were 10 of us banded by Dr Chris on the same day - and we were a bit of rowdy bunch to say the least..... Clara mainly "making" the others stay in hotel bar till after the curfew for nil by mouth!!! But it was all good fun and made the time easier by knowing the others too. I took a day off work today and managed to have a good rest and only eat when i should. I tried toast and that went down ok. Havent had any stuckages yet! Got a bit of a stitch thing going on but I read the others chatting about that. Right off to watch a movie.. Take care. Lisa xx :cool2: xx -

Hi Guys, Welcome Newbies, Thought i'd share my days thoughts with you. :smile:Ive just got my WLS welcome pack, all very informative and cant wait for the 1st in fill on 15th August. Michelle was very nice and seems I made a good choice. :sneaky:Had a bad day today, got on the scales after my 19lb loss and put some back on..... ok, firstly is this normal, i'm just on mushies and not liquids anymore? Cant go to the loo! Devastated i've put some on! Went to work after accusing the ole man that he must of had a word with Dr Chris to put me under, make a few incisions and let me think i'd had the op to save him money!!!! Then got to work and was picked up in my coaching and took the mega hump bumped my port site on a desk and ooooo that hurt and cried on and off all day!!!! :crying:Welcome to the wonderful world of PMT!!!! So here I am had a couple hours kip while the ole man went to the gym and hoping i'd feel better..... I do! Feel a bit daft but then those who know me... I am! Anyway, enough ramblings from me. Hope everyone is ok and had a better day... long live tomorrow! Lisa xx:blushing:xx -

Hey guys, I just thought i'd share a recipe for those on mushies..... My husband is on a low carb and discovered that instead of rice if you grate some cauliflower and put it in a microwavable dish with a lid and nuke for 4 - 5 mins (dont add any liquid). It has the consistancy of rice. But i took it one step further, I made some cheese sauce and made cauliflower cheese and topped it with a little breadcrumbs and stuck it in the oven. Bloomin delicious and I made some batches for the freezer too. Try it and enjoy. Well it's day 2 of mushies now. I had the above last night and today i tried some minced pork and some chinese noodles that my hubby made with some sort of chinesy seasoning. I didnt have any problems eating it. I also had some frosties well soaked in milk. Sorts out those with a sweet tooth. Hope Flirty is ok and all those newbies are doing ok.... I've booked my first fill with Michelle at WLS for 15/08/09 in London. Chatted with her today and told her about this forum and she is glad they are having a good feedback from the company. Hiya Michela, Claire and Michelle, hope your all doing well. Michelle, Make sure you're not eating lumpy stuff too quickly, Dr Chris did say that it may cause problems with your band if you try to eat solids too quickly. I am still on liquids, soups, yogurts, jelly and the dutch crispbakes with cream cheese on top, ready brek and weetabix(well soaked in milk). For a treat Ive had some of my mum's homemade blackcurrant jelly on the crispbakes. But iam not risking anything yet. Saturday I will start on mushy stuff. But quite happy with what i'm eating so far. Michelle, Dr Chris says he wouldnt do any band fills until youre 6 weeks post op and that is after an initial 4 week check up. I have been phoning round to weigh up the costings of in fills. Whilst WLS looks good, I have to add up the cost of travelling to London as well. Our local Spire Hospital here in Portsmouth do the aftercare packages for £100 each fill. So I'm gonna have to think about what i'm going to do. Time for bed Take care all xxx Lisa  xxx -

Hiya, Clara, Michelle, Anitahugs and all those that were banded same time as me on 07/07/09. Clara, Ive bought two tons of those dutch crispbakes so far - the whole family have been eating them. It's like diet central here. Hubby is doing some sort of low carb diet and making up his own concoctions, daughter is 6 weeks post caesarian and off to the gym and has a craving for fish pie! Me I've only had 2 bowls of soup so far, bored with that. I'm liking the crispbakes with Primula cheese (all flavours) and yogurts and probiotic yogurt drink/Jelly. Ive lost 18lbs now so far, since the pre op diet. As for my dressings - I took em all off after 5 days to air the skin and they have healed greatly. I also trimmed the stitches at the same time. The "real" stitch is still undercover as it kept getting caught in my clothes but all the same drying up nicely. I am still Laughing over Michelle's face when she came out from the xray room with the taste of the yummy xray drink emblazoned on her face! Gawd knows how Anitahugs and I didnt split our stitches then and there! Not much more to report except ive tried weetabix and ready brek, although ive left it to swell in the milk before even attempting to eat it. But went down ok. Signing off for now Good luck Flirty with the op. Lisa xx:lol:xx -

hey Clara, I meant those dutch crispbreads, not others. Dr Chris said they were fine to eat cos they turn to liquid in your mouth. Ive tried em with primula cheese on, nice! Hope your doing ok. Keep in touch Lisa x -

Morning guys, 5 days after banding and i'm feeling good! Back to work tomorrow. :frown: But I guess I have to go back sometime, I mean hey who can take time off to have an op when they work for the govt right? <sigh> Anyway, I dared to take the dressing off last last night and I've done away with the sexy stockings. The incision marks are surprisingly smaller than I thought they would be. I trimmed the desolvable stitches like Dr Chris said but left the other one until friday. Cant see as i'll need to see the nurse - I think I do that myself. The pain is virtually gone now, just a kinda pulling sensation on my tummy in general, but i guess that's the muscle knitting back together. Food wisw I've been having a probiotic yogurt for brekkie, 2 dutch crispbakes with primula cheese for lunch, and half a tin of soup and 2 more crispbreads for dinner. A fromage frais in the evening and a milkshake in the day, plus copius amounts of water. Is that right do ya think? Should I be eating all that or any suggestions on what else to try? Since going on the pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery ive lost 16lbs so i'm well happy. Anyway, off to the sink for more washing up! Catch you later Lisa xxx -

hi guys and girls, Just back from Vilvoorde, the town my husband has named "dead" although I would love to say that he'd had too much to drink last night and DID manage to find a Kebab shop open!!! The whole experience was enlightening to say the least. We arrived at the Campanile hotel around 3pm monday afternoon after driving via the eurotunnel. We sat out in the sun having a drink and eyed up all the people coming hoping to meet Clara and Anitahugs. I met the bubbly clara first and then Anitahugs.... then more and more people arrived. I turned out eventually to be 10 of being banded on the 7th July. We all had a meeting with Frederick and Dr Chris in the evening and all met each other with our various partners etc. Some of the crowd managed to stay in the bar until well after eating ban was supposed to have started, but by all accounts a good time was had by all. The hospital for all those going for banding was clean and efficient although a couple of nurses rather "off" in manner, but they were kinda over stretched with the UK invasion! The night of the op, all i thought of is why????? Why did I voluntarily pay money to have myself in pain and why is my throat sore. To be honest I just felt like a complete whinger. The next day wasnt so bad and since tuesday as considerable improvement each day. Yes it is uncomfortable but not majorly painful. I think the most annoying part is the inability to turn over in bed. Anyway, so now i'm back home. Time to reflect. I think the weirdest thing for me was the first meal in the hospital when we were given a bowl of non descript soup and 3 dutch crispbakes with marg and jam. Without thinking to much about it I sat down to eat with my fellow Inmates and one of the girls woofed down the lot straight off. My mistake was a huge bite instead of a small nibble, but I had no problems as reality hit home and I thought about all these years of eating like I was having my last meal and scoffing so much till i would nearly burst. When I got home today I was sat quietly indoors and without a second thought decided to make some toast, even went to get the bread before it sunk in that the whole of existance as I know it has changed. I made this decision fro this op and by god it's going to work for me! But 30 years+ of over eating and falling into bad habits and lets face it being a complete PIG isnt going to change in 48 hours. Right this minute I'm thinking about breakfast and wondering if that lovely drink the hospital gives you will ever have the laxative effect Dr chris says it will???? Enough ramblings for one night Lisa xxxx -

I emailed DR Chris today but whether he or frederick will reply. I feel kinda vague about the whole experience, must have caught Brigit on bad days when i rang and only had the basis info, never heard of Frederick until i read the blogs today and was worried about the consulatation the night before.... can you tell me anything about it?
