About Me

  • Biography
I have been overweight since 2003 when I decided to get out of the US Army. The past 6 years I used food as a crutch. I have now been happily married since 2007 and find myself searching for the old "me." Banded on 4/28/09

    Before Surgery

  4. People have been rude to you and that is unacceptable! I have NOT battled weight my whole life and I do not need to loose 100+ pounds but the band is working great for me. Keep your head up and great things will come. Hopefully we both will get lucky enough to add a baby or 2 to our families in the near future!

  5. I have recently experienced these horrible feelings and I know it was COMPLETELY my fault but WOW!! I read all of your post and thought I must be lucky but then I forgot about chewing and slowing down on my intake and bam!! Very painful but I think it is a good thing. It is an alarm to tell me to slow down and pay attention to the tool that I have. Hope you all have a great week! Here's to chewing and eating slowly . . .
  6. WEIGHT: Highest- 280 Surgery-265 Current- 241 FILLS: May 28--2cc's (10cc Band) RESTRICTION: No restriction. I can eat what I want when I want it. RULES: I drink with my meals. I know it is bad but I cant give it up. I have also had some bad food but for the most part I had done pretty good. My hubby just returned from Iraq so I may have slacked off the last week or so. ANYTHING ELSE: I am in "Hell" and I am so ready for a fill. I put a call into my doctor this morning to see if I could get in for a fill this week before we head to California for vacation. I fight the head hunger more than anything and I am finding it very hard to stay on track now that my husband is home. It is sad to say that it was easier when I only had to worry about myself. Wishing you each success!!

    First fills

Today I had my first fill. The doctor gave me 2cc's. I begged for more but he wouldn't budge. The doctor did not numb me. He asked me to do a semi-crunch to tighten my muscles so he could locate the port. He had the needle in but said it was floating around the port. He moved and pressed on the port for about 2 mins and finally got the needle to the correct position. The only pain I had was when he removed the needle from my abdomen. Today I am on liquids and then tomorrow soft foods. The doctor said I can start reqular foods on Saturday. I have lost 20 pounds since my surgery on 28 April (1 month). I would love to lose more but I know that I need to get out there and exercise. Before today's fill I have been able to eat what I want but I have had smaller portions and have been semi-healthy about my choices. I hope everyones journey is going well!!

    Confessions of diet infractions here...

I am supposed to be on mushies . . . my band date was 28 April 09. This week I had cheesecake at a work luncheon. Then last night I had several bites of a steak, veggies and a chicken bite. I feel so guilty that I ate the food!! I am so hungry and I am only a little over 2 weeks POST OP. Do you think I will mess up my band by progressing my diet?? I am able to stand food. And even though I cheated I did not eat a large amount of anything. My first fill is May 28th. Any input you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks and congrats on everyones progress!!

    First fills

My first fill is scheduled for May 28th. I was banded on April 28th and am now on the mushie stage. I find that I am hungry and I can eat more than I thought I would be able to. I have lost weight although I do not see it when looking in the mirror or putting my clothes on. My husband comes home from Iraq on June 1st and I am hoping that I will have lost a good amount of weight before then!! Thank you all for sharing your stories. This forum has really helped me!!
  10. Banded on April 28th around Noon. I had some pains but mostly gas. Last night (10 days post op) I had the worse pain ever. I couldn't get it to stop and vommited X2. Today I feel better just really sore and tired. I am also finding it hard to get my Protein in. I have been drinking water/tea, yogurt, Jello, and applesause. I have not been able to take a Protein shake yet. Down 16 pounds since surgery and I am excited for what is to come. I have to admit I am worried that I will gain weight with the mushie stage but I am so looking forward to mashed potatoes!! I hope everyone is going well!! Weight on Surgery Date: 265.2 Weight on 5/8/09: 249
