Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
singand_dance replied to 123008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey old friends! I also regained too much weight. I had the sleeve 3 years ago and never got to goal weight. I did find the sleeve was really working for me while I was pregnant though. Something about the hormones- I finally had decent restriction! My daughter is 2 weeks old and I only gained 3.5 lbs in my pregnancy. I'm just hoping I can keep some momentum and actually get back to losing once I'm fully recovered! -
Post op FIRST time pregnancies
singand_dance replied to Jaime_Boston's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
At 2 years post-op, I went off the pill and had 1 period, then was pregnant. I gained significantly since surgery and never actually got to goal, but being pregnant I feel like I finally have good restriction! -
My doctors didn't want me to take they normal glucose test, instead I will have to monitor my blood glucose 2x daily, for 1 week, 3 times throughout pregnancy. Just got my meter today, already have so much more sympathy for my diabetic friends.

Thank you for posting this!! I'm a relapsed sugar addict. For me, 1 bite is too many and 100 is never enough. Sugar is such a hard addition to conquer, and so many people don't understand it was an addition.

I had the same problem for the first few months. My nutritionist said it was ok to use a gummy multi Vitamin until I could tolerate the pill. I later found that I had to take it with food or right before bed. I did have several incidents when I didn't fall asleep as fast as I'd hoped, and got very nauseous. I get my daily multi, Citrical and B-12 from costco. I take my D3, B1, Folic Acid first thing in the morning. I take calcium during the day (I just keep the bottle in my desk at work) and take the multi before bed.

Anyone have a late period post op? I've always been very regular. I had surgery 10/17 and started my period in the hospital. Now, for the first time I'm late. I'm certainly not pregnant, and doc said I can restart my birth control at 8 weeks. I've heard many stories of multiple/heavy periods but was anyone else late?

throwing up after i take my vitamin!
singand_dance replied to PJ713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem. I tried chewables, liquid and cut my costco daily multi in half (that was the worst!) and major nausea with each. My dietician just told me I may be a little sensitive right now (less than 3 weeks out) and it's ok to try a gummy vitamin for the time being. I'll try my regular multi in a few weeks. Somehow, my b-12, b1 and d3 all go down fine... -
Has anyone heard of STARR Treatment?
singand_dance replied to StephanieG86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had it. But my doc refers to it as the SILS technique (Single Incision Laproscopic Surgery) and I have a tiny incision at my bra line and the big one at my belly button. -
My surgeon told me to start working on my playlist for surgery (but if they don't like it, they'll just play "Our own crap" as he called it). I need help to create an awesome/amusing playlist, my doc is kind of a joker. Here's what I have so far -Eye of the Tiger (you can't go wrong, can you?) -Feeling Good (Michael Buble, song just makes me feel good!) -Don't Stop Believing -.........................here's where I draw a blank. I know if anyone can help, its you guys!

Walking?
singand_dance replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was Oct 17. 5 days post-op I did a Cancer-walk that was about 1 mile, plus walking to and from the car that was parked about 2 1/2 blocks from the event site. It felt good. Now I'm walking about 1 mile each time, and I try to do it in the morning, and then in the evening when I have someone with me who can help with my dog so he can walk too. -
I'm looking forward to mashed butternut squash when I move to stage 3 next week. I get the pre-cut stuff from costco, nuke it for 5 minutes and mash with a fork. Yum-O.

For anyone in the Sacramento area, there is a support group meeting at Kaiser South Sacramento on Saturday November 19 from 11-1. We could always meet up from there...

October 17 VSG, need October friends!
singand_dance replied to Hopeful Spirit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved Oct 17 in South San Francisco, CA. My journey has taken several years and I've had to switch surgeons. (The first required me to lose 85 lbs pre-op and even after I lost 50lbs he said to keep going, and stop eating fruit... needless to say I got a 2nd opinion) I was originally scheduled for June 20 but got sick, then I was put on steroids for my asthma, so my rescheduled date of July 22 was canceled also due to weight gain (due to the dang steroids!!!) So I'm now happily post op! -
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
singand_dance replied to 123008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! It's been quite a while and I have news! I finally had my sleeve surgery Monday, October 17 at SSF. My surgeon is a big fan of the Single-incision technique, but with my gallbaldder coming out at the same time he couldn't do just the one, but I ended up with only two incisions. I had a rough time coming out of anasthesia, mostly because they didn't tape one of my eyes well enough and it got too dry during surgery. When I woke up it was so scratchy. I complained about my eye in the recovery room and to every nurse who walked through my door. I didn't end up getting anything for it until after 9pm. I refused to open my eyes because it hurt so bad so I think that delayed my recovery a little. On Tuesday, my breakfast tray came at the same time as the transport chair to take me to radiology for my upper GI. Unfortunately they only had 1 transport person so the Upper GI took way longer than it should have. I got to radiology and sat there until Francisco came and brought me in. Then he had me get up on the table (very painful!) he took one xray then told me the table was going to be inverted so I'd be standing. I was pissed at this point because he made me climb on the table- knowing I'd just had abdominal surgery. He didn't even lower the table for me. Once he inverted the table he left me standing there for several minutes. I was finally able to reach my IV stand where my pain pump button was hanging so I could click away. Then they had me drink the stuff. I love how the guy tells me to take bigger gulps, Uh, I haven't even had a sip of water this is the first I've had to drink and I'm terrified of gulping! Anyway- no leaks and they wheel me back to the hallway where they leave me for 20 minutes or more, waiting for that single transport person. I'm sure I was quite a sight to see, I was hunched over in my chair watching the clock on my IV and pushing my pain button every 6 minutes. I got back to my room and slept a little and then my lunch tray arrived, then Dr Alami showed up and took one look at me and said 'Yeah, you don't look great. You're not going home today". I had a change of rooms because there was a problem with the plumbing and got to go home Wednesday. So far I'm having a little trouble getting all my water down, but each day is getting better. I've only taken my tylenol w/ Codeine once since I got home. Sometimes it makes me nauseous and my pain isn't intolerable. I miss you ladies, and I hope we can get together soon! -

I need to find a replacement for Premier Protien Shakes

Sorry it took me so long! The expiration date on my current box is 9/26/2012. And, more good news- the Vanilla shakes are back at Costco! -
I need to find a replacement for Premier Protien Shakes
singand_dance replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD NEWS! Premier Nutrition chocolate shakes have been changed (either again, or back to the original formula) they're no longer thick, they're great! I had been drinking the vanilla but my last box was chunky and not a drinkable consistency. I had to return the box and costco no longer carries vanilla (bummer) I've never been able to try the strawberry but Premier Nutrition's website says it's out there. At least the chocolate is good again! -
