Good Morning Ladies! My scale is good to me today. I'm very excited. I have to get to the gym since I've had 4 rest days in a row. That's what seems to happen, I have school on Tuesday nights so I don't get any exercise, but then I'm tired the next night so I don't do anything Wed either! What is that about?

Whew... I've been reading for an hour! And I've only been away for 2 days! I will not be able to make it Friday, but I know you ladies will have a great time! I don't have much today, just going to work on my midterm and get to the gym if I can. I do have tomorrow off so I will def. get my caboose to the gym.

I just read some of the NSV on the 20's board. Can I just tell you ladies how frusterating it is to have lost 37 lbs and still not be down to a 22! I'm noticing my body changing, and my clothes fit better, but seriously! My aunt always said 10 lbs was the difference of a size for her. I've lost nearly 40 and I'm still in the same clothes. Ugh. It makes me wonder if I was really a delusional 26 squeezing myself into a 24?

Nicole~ A quick search of Craigslist came up with a few jogging strollers for $40. There were the hundred dollar ones, but there were some good prices too. If you're coming up for the group thing Friday you could pick one up... Tina~ Thanks! I'm a little addicted to exercise. I feel bad for not really doing anything today since I'm not at work, but I have to remind myself my body needs a rest day. Of course, tomorrow is a rest day and Tuesday is school. So that's 3 in a row. That's what makes it harder to exercise again. Once I'm on a roll, I'm good. If I stop I get lazy and don't wanna!

A few days ago everyone on the radio and news were bitching and moaning about the new law that went into effect that requires chain restaurants to post their nutritional info. Let me just say how glad I am for it! Tomorrow is my grandmother's 86th birthday. Despite what Dr. Fisher said about avoiding family occasions, I'm going. She's 86 for pete's sake! We're going to the Spaghetti Factory. So, I went on their site and checked out the nutritional facts. I about choked! I have my whole meal planned out to minimize calories. Luckily my favorite thing there (Spinach and cheese Ravioli) is the lowest calorie entree. I know Robin said Pasta is a no-no. But I figure lower calories over non-pasta options. Also, their broccoli is insane! The small is 300 calories and 28 grams of fat! I think it goes without saying I will request that without the olive oil, browned butter and mizritha cheese. Jeeze people! Is it a contest to get the most calories into a dish? I put this one in the win column since I've planned my meal in advance.

    lapbands and relationships

My surgeon warned me about this very thing. I think when your SO has a weight problem and they aren't ready to change they feel threatened by your changes. Everyone has to be ready to lose weight, you can force it on someone if they're not ready. It's sad that relationships fail because one person got healthier and the other felt left behind.

I just finished my first 5k in about 10 years. I walked most of it, but I did run at the end. It's funny, I was not running all that much faster than I walked, but boy my lungs were not happy! It was fun though. Then I came home and did my Wii Active, but not the running or the squats & lunges. I'm definately doing more 5ks. I don't care if I'm fast, but I'm doing them! Hopefully I can run a little more for the next one. But I figure, I started at the very back of the pack, and I finished before a bunch of people so I'm proud of myself. And I'm totally serious about that Tri Gril Tri next year. Now I just need to get a bike. And swim better. And run more. That should be no problem! lol. Happy 4th Ladies!

Chatty Cathys! And I thought I had to read a lot for school! lol. I was so excited to be in the 290s this past week. Now it's crept back up. What is that?! It's so frusterating! Right now, I think my job might be safe. I'm excited but cautious. Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies! Oh, and I've got midterms already! Crazy. I know it's an accelerated program, but it's whizzing past me! I can get together Thursday. (We're talking next week, 7/9 right?)

I think the friendship and support has been lacking from every other attempt at weight loss. That's why were successful now. I've always gone at it alone, even when I had a buddy working with me. Now I've got a bunch of buddies who get it. That's what helps me so much. You girls get it.

C25k is Couch to 5k. It's a running training program. I've heard lots of good things about it.

Tina, I'll take some clothes off your hands too! I'm headed towards 22! I also don't get as hungry in the heat. And I lose all desire to exercies. I'm really fighting the urge to vege out on the couch tonight. But my goal for today was 1 hour cardio at the gym and do the Wii Active. (That is a surprisingly great workout!)

Did anyone else get really inspired by Angel's triathalon story at the support group? I'm going to do it. Next year for sure, this year maybe. www.enviroSports.com It's the Tri, Girl Tri. in Napa, CA on Oct 3 Half mile swim, 11 mile bike ride, 3 mile run They have the optional weight class, Athena. It's for women over 160 lbs who are scored separately from the others. There's also an option for 2 and 3 person relay teams.

Christine I do the same thing! I have been forcing myself to do my reading for school while I'm at the gym. If I do it at home I tend to fall asleep. Last week I told myself I was going to stay on that elliptical until I finished the chapter, and I was on for 1 hr 15 minutes! I didn't even realize it had been that long. It felt great. I'm sure it goes faster with a book you enjoy! Since my class is only 9 weeks long there's a lot of reading in a short amount of time. Average is 3 chapters a week, and they're long. I always thought I read fast. Apparently not with this book. I noticed something at the gym tonight. I decided I needed to walk on the treadmill since I'm doing a 5k on Saturday. I walked 30 minutes before my knee started to almost hurt. (I just knew it was time to stop) Then I got on the elliptical for another 30. The thing is, the treadmill was harder for me and I sweated more, but the elliptical felt better and said I burned more calories. Huh? Anyone else get this? My heartrate was higher for longer on the treadmill too. Maybe the calorie thing was because the treadmill didn't ask for my weight but the elliptical did. I don't really know. But it's funny, I can also read better on the elliptical.

The heat must be messing with their thinking! Update. I've had the air on all day and it's now 84 inside. I'm going to the gym just to cool off!

Anyone else insanely hot? I've had the airconditioner on since 10 this morning and it just keeps getting hotter inside! The forecast did call for 105+ today. Ahh Sacramento. Ugh. Just complaining a little. I started doing day 2 of the Wii Active 30 day challenge. I told it I was not doing the squats. Well I did some side squat thing, but my knee started to hurt, so I skipped it. Then it was some running, and my knee hurt. I had problems with my knees as a teenager so I said Nuh-uh. And I iced it and quit. Now I feel like I should do a little something, but I'm scared! I may have just tweaked it a little but I really don't want chronic knee problems.

Good morning ladies! Dr. Fisher told me the divorce rate for bariatric patients was 50%. My mom and I sat there, "Isn't that the national rate?". I think he was just trying to figure me out. He probably went in thinking I'm young/immature, I live with some boyfriend and I just never tried hard. Instead, I've been with my bf for almost 6 years now, living together for 1 and we do plan on getting married. Our relationship has lasted longer than several marriages we know of. So I'm not concerned. I started the Wii Active 30 day challenge yesterday. I'm sore this morning! My only problem with it was the squats. I had the leg band thing on, but it barely fit on my thigh just above my knee- Def. not at the top of the thigh like they suggest. So even when I was squatting super low, it said I wasn't. So I cheated. I would lift my leg just to get through the segment. I hate squats.

A big day for everyone! I had my first weight check with my PCP per Dr. Fisher's orders. Let me just say that I hate it when different offices have different policies about shoes. I could do shoes off at my surgeon appt, but at my weight check it was absolutely must wear shoes. So I weighed in 5 lbs heavier at the office than I did this morning at home! Ugh. Anyway, I will now know to wear lighter shoes. (I was wearing my tennis shoes with my special Super Feet insoles) And, I spent 1hr 15 min on the elliptical at the gym today. I'm a little sore, but I think that's good. Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday!

Tamra, don't stress too much. I've never lost more than 17 lbs in my life. Then I got on the Richmond pre-op diet and it really has been working for me. I've already lost twice as much weight as I ever did in the past, and I did it in half the time. I was so scared this would be another diet that wouldn't work, but I realized that now is the time. I'm finally ready to work extra hard and get strict with myself. I had trouble the first few days because rule #1 is No Snacking. Ever. I didn't realize how much I had been eating between meals without even realizing it. I know you'll do great, You're a part of the group! It's amazing what a difference the forum and all this support makes. Will we see you Saturday?
  23. singand_dance

Did you tell everyone or no?

I'm not telling anyone, besides my mom and boyfriend. Of course my mom told my dad (I don't mind, he's my dad... I just didn't want to have a wierd conversation about it with him myself), and my boyfriend told his family. I've got mixed feelings on that. I've always been very private about my weight. As far as people at work, I've had one person ask me if I'm losing weight and wants to know my secret! I haven't been banded yet so I told her I cook every meal now and I eat real food. I exercise and I don't drink my calories. All true!

Welcom Tamra! How long your wait will be kinda depends. Some of the ladies here went through in about 3 months. I don't know how long I have, since the surgeon wanted me to lose a lot more than 10% of my body weight before surgery. I got my referral from my PCP and had orientation with Richmond about 3 weeks later, and had my surgeon appt about 3 weeks after that. You'll love this group, it's so much easier to stick with the pre-op diet when you feel supported!
