Maria- Of course you can ride with us. Just let Pam or I know! Ok, so I had another weight check appt today. I gained about 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. I couldn't believe it. I've been exercising more but I gained! I was super upset, had myself a little cry when I got home, but the boyfriend and I are trying harder. I'm just so disappointed in myself. I feel like I let other people down, and I don't get it. I don't feel like I've just eaten everything I've wanted, but I probably have. So upsetting. Can't wait to see you all Saturday! -

I was following the 1200 calorie as written, but I got off track about a month ago, and am pretty stalled. I always eat the protein first, then the fruit or veggies, then dairy and carbs last. Nicolie/Liz- sorry I forgot who asked, but my latest breakfast (and lunch) is cheese and apples. Don't tell Robin, but I do eat the cheese with the apples (at the same time, shame!) I got so tired of eggs and cottage cheese. I love me some cheese and apple. My favorite is the pink lady apple. Riley- Love the new picture, rock it girl! Maria- I'm so sorry you can't make it this weekend. Same goes for Nicole and Tina. See you all at the support group after Thanksgiving? -

Howdy everyone. My personal weight loss chalenge to lose 10 lbs before my vacation in 29 days isn't going so well. I gaind a few lbs since I've been exercising more again. What is that about? I figure I'll just come to a tipping point and then drop a ton. (Cross those fingers ladies). I'm excited for the bridge walk. I'll be driving from EG, so anyone who wants to join can do that. I have a Camry and can fit 3 comfortably. I've decided to walk more at the gym and not just stick with the elliptical. I played around with the incline and all that good stuff. I hurt a little today though. I don't like that. I'm afraid to push too hard and injure myself but I don't know. I usually never hurt with the elliptical, hmmm maybe that's why I started using that machine in the first place?! Anyway. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Veteran's Day, full of healthy choices and maybe a little relaxation. Creatinglee- I don't think the doctors share their requirements for weight loss. I think they honestly give everyone individualized weight loss. Doc Fisher is basically having me lose half my excess weight before surgery. Way way more than 10 %. I think a lot of it depends on age, body type and I bet a bunch of other things they'll never share with us! Good luck! -

Woohoo Christine! That's the good kind of belly popping out! Today is a new day, and I'm desperately trying to keep from snacking. That has been my goal all week and so far I haven't come close to meeting my goal. I'm off to the gym in a few. Any Sacramento people doing the Run to Feed the Hungry? It's at 8 on Thanksgiving morning, starts at Sac State/Scottish Rite Center. Boyfriend and I are going, I'm walking and he isn't decided yet. I get the urge to run more, even though Liz told other people they were too heavy to run I want to run a little. I'm nowhere near this C25k yet, but someday I will. I think I need to cross train a little, I love my elliptical but I need to prepare myself by walking more. Walking just uses different muscles so I need to work those too- otherwise I'll be coming home from Vallejo with my calves and shins cramping like last time! No thank you! We're going to Hawaii in a month, I'm planning all sorts of active activities. Like a few easy hikes to waterfalls and stuff like that. I'm getting excited. We're also having a bake sale at work next week, it's for a really good cause (supports the family of an officer killed in a car accident, she left behind 4 young kids, and supports the toy project where officers give out trees, gifts and food for families in need). The problem with this is that I've started early, I've made two batches of cookie dough. So far I've been able to keep it in the freezer where it belongs, but I always try a spoonful when I make the dough. Bad. But, I'm sending it all to the bake sale on Thursday. Good. I don't think I'll be going to the Sonoma meeting, so there's room in my car if anyone else that needs a ride. -

I vote Santa Rosa, but maybe I'll just go up and come down to Vallejo. Sonoma ladies, what's the info for the Sonoma support group? I'm trying so hard to kick the sugar habit. Stupid Halloween got me hooked again. I'm weaning myself right now, it's tough. I'm having an easier time getting back to the gym, 50 minutes elliptical each night this week. Happy Birthday Nicole!! -

Welcome Ash! My copayments are $15 for each appt. I think the surgery copay is $15 too. Not too shabby. That stinks that your pcp hasn't responded yet, I can't stand that! -

Pat, I feel exactly the way you do. I'm terrified to do it, but terrified to not do it. You're not alone feeling this way. -
Husband doesn't notice weight loss
singand_dance replied to Humming Bird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It took 50 lbs before my boyfriend noticed. I'd try on new clothes and say "Look, these fit again!" and he'd say "oh, that's nice, good job". He knew I was working and how much I'd lost. Finally one day he just stopped and said "Damn, I totally see it". Then whenever I see my mom she just stops and stares for a minute. But I only see her every few weeks. -

500 pages!!! Wow. We're awesome. I totally went through the "I can do this on my own" phase. I was doing really well on the preop diet, now not so much. I'm struggling. I have gone back to the gym so that's a good start. I'm taking all the excess halloween candy and cookies to work tomorrow, I can't be trusted with all this sugar in the house. I originally planned to buy candy I don't like (I was thinking almond joy) so I wouldn't eat any. Somehow that didn't work out. I should have just boycotted it like Candra! Good girl! -
Well, my job is still my job. But this is my other job!

I quit school. Well, technically I've interrupted my enrollment/taken a leave of absence with an unknown return date. I feel really good about my decision. I think what cinched the deal for me was understanding that it doesn't mater if it takes me 10 years to get my degree but it can't take 10 years to lose the weight. I have to lose the weight. I still have about 30 lbs to lose before I get a surgery date, I've been stuck for over a month now. I'm really trying to get back on track. I think the weather change is making things difficult, I get so tired in the evenings before I even get to the gym. I have to force myself to do it, too much time off has made it too easy to slack off. But tomorrow is a new day.

Maybe John will be my surgery buddy? I feel like I'll probably have a Feb surgery date too. I went out to two parties last night and we were invited to a third, but it's exhausting! I went to one party on my own and joined my fella at the other. I noticed that I was eating all sorts of junk at the party, I didn't have all that many people to talk to so I just hung out with the food. So not good. Ugh! We still have candy around the house too, got tired of the trick-or-treaters so we turned our light off. Now I've got to get that junk to work so they can devour it. I think the Santa Rosa meeting sounds like a lot of fun/inspiration! Just what we'll need right before Thanksgiving. Pat, we tried to get together for a walk at Schollenber park but it was closed for repairs or something. Don't remember details but It's probably posted 100 pages ago. lol. Sounds like a lot of fun! Here's me in costume- -

I'm loving all my time without a paper due every dang night! I would have started school this week. I feel much better. I started the stress program thing online through Kaiser, and it was saying "quitting school may seem like a good idea but..." and I thought, "Too late!" I'll go back when I'm good and ready. I went to the gym last night and did 50 min on the elliptical before I got a phone call from our realtor. I answered the phone in the gym (I know, not allowed). We've got a counter offer for the house... apparently they're sending contracts over soon. I'm so flippin excited. Trying to stay grounded and not get my hopes up, but they're up. I still don't know which will come first, the house or my surgery! They're estimating Jan or Feb to close on the house, I feel like surgery could be the same timeline. How bad would that be: "Sorry boys I can't lift a finger.... oh, you missed a box!" hehehe I had my weight check appt today. I was worried since I've been struggling. Well, I went with the "wear a dress" thing and flip-flops (my lightest shoes). It seemed to work. I was technically down, but I'm down 1 lb since Spet 17. That can't be good! And I must have looked silly, it was 47 degrees outside when I left for my appt and I was wearing a dress and flip flops. lol. Oh, and the weight check chick was pleasant today! I was shocked. I need to email Doc Fisher and see if there's anything we can do. I doubt he'll lower my surgery goal. Maybe I'll just start coming to a few more classes in Richmond, like the bariatric lifestyles class. -

Here's a link for the binder for my program, the 1200 calorie pre-op diet is on pages 46-50. I've found it to be a great diet. Good luck! http://www.permanente.net/homepage/kaiser/pdf/39806.pdf -

We could crash the Sonoma support group... And we could try to do that wetlands walk thing that didn't work out a few months ago. Beatriz- Great to hear Doc Fisher did such a great job (another happy patient!) Hope you heal fast! Maria- The walking might be great prep for surgery! -
I know you have a solution now, but others may be in the same situation. Check with your support group. I know my local lap band ladies would drive me home if I didn't have anyone else to do it. And I'd do it for any of them too!

Anyone up for lunch on Thursday this week? I have the day off and Nicole said she could make it. We could meet somewhere around Arden or Rancho if that means Tina can meet up too. I did well with all my water and pretty good with food. I fell asleep on the couch so I didn't make it to the gym. But I'm going to bed now and I figure that counts as something good for me too. Body need sleep! -

Tina- I love the new ticker! Riley- You're almost to your mini goal! Woohoo! Pam, Marie- You ladies down to try the EG meeting this week? I forgot if its supposed to be Monday or Tuesday. Pam, do you remember? I got back to the gym today, 1 hour on the elliptical and I feel good! I'm making turkey meatloaf and asparagus for dinner. Go me. -

Howdy everyone! I'd say today was just what I needed. It's great seeing everyone, and getting to finally meet Maria! I came home and fell asleep for about 2 hours. My body must be trying to tell me something, like "Sleep is good". I'm hanging out tonight, trying not to sabatoge myself! -

Well Tina, we can always snatch up the cute 12s for you if you're late, and if you still have any of the larger stuff we can just load it from your trunk to mine, lol. April- sorry you're not going to make it, working on a Saturday. Bummer. Donna- I'm so glad you're back!
