Hi, I'm Jennifer! I grew up an average weight kid, was in the high school band dance line and never really had a weight problem. I married the love of my life in 1998,got comfortable, and the weight started adding up. Three children later, all attempts at dieting, exercise, and diet pills failed or worked temporarily only for the lbs to return with a vengance. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was when I was asked three times in one week if I was expecting again. grrrr. So, I went to the weight loss seminar offered by a Dr. that I had heard good things about. I knew in my heart that I was not ready to take the leap into gastric bypass, but the realize band sounded like a good path for me. My primary doctor was very supportive of my decision and helped me with my 6 month physician directed weight loss program. I concluded my 6 month program on 2/24/2009 and had my first pre-op appointment that day. My information was sent online to my insurance company for approval-it was denied a week later. We then had to send in all of my paperwork by mail with a letter of appeal-within two weeks I was approved, yay!! I was scheduled for surgery on 4/29/2009. I had one day surgery in the outpatient department of the hospital, the doctors and nurses could not have been nicer. Other than a little nausea from the anesthesia, I felt great!! I even went back to work the next day. (I have a desk job) I wish I had made the decision to do this years ago. So far so good!!! No regrets!
