North Houston/Spring/ Woodlands Gal Lap Band Nightmare
K-CEE posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay. I went in August 1st to have my lap band and gallbladder removed it was supposed to be an outpatient proceedure that turned into a nightmare. During my surgery, when they put in my lap band the DR. cut my stomache? how ???? and then he decided to perform a fundoplication where he botched my lapband. This is where the stomach is around the esophegus? then he removed my gallbladder. I was in surgery for 6 hours? Why? The next day was feeling awlful. They went back in and my stomach was expanded and blown up. That night I was sent to ICU because of my heart. They almost had to zap me with the paddles. This is the most painful proceedure I have ever had. I wish this pain upon no one. Not worth it. I rather stay fat and die of my sleep apena then go through this pain. I want my old body back. Lord Help ME.:help: I feel so sick and nausa- hard drink liquids because of nausa. -
North Houston/Spring/ Woodlands Gal To Be Banded Soon
K-CEE posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live near The Woodlands. I will be banded on Tuesday, August 1st. I just wanted to say "Hi" to all of those who are in and around my area. I will try and go to the August Meeting when ever you are having one to meet some of the North Houston Bandsters. I am so excited to finally have something to help me lose weight. Its kinda like having my very own friend with me (my band which I think I will name it) that tells me you can't have that or you know better. I have done the diet thing soo many times. Going on another diet was just out of the question, I could not do it anymore. I look forward to meeting some of you very soon. I can not wait until Tuesday. Trying to keep myself busy the next two days. I can not believe it is here so quickly. Thank God for UHC. They approved me in 10 days. I went out tonight and got me some of the required liquid diet items hope I did not forget anything 1. Propel with Calcium and Some Water flavored with Splenda (Do not like Crystal Light) 2. sugar free Popsicles 3. Suger Free Jello 4. chicken and Beef broth If I forgot something pleas let me know. Plus what do to add to this list for the full liquid diet.:help: -
When I was 16 I worked at Taco Bell and they use LARD when cooking those Refried Beans. Not to gross anyone out, but that is what they still use to cook those Refried Beans. Fresh Beans and Several Chunks of Lard. I think eating those Beans in moderation is okay. I would not suggest eating them more than once a month, if you need to have some Protein. If you do not like to cook I would suggust just putting some refried beans in a crock pot and slow cooking them. That has to be better than those Taco Bell Beans.:hungry:

I read an article today that said if you walk your dog 20 min a day 5 days a week you can lose an extra 14 pounds. I think I need to get a dog!:noidea: Just kidding. When I am up to it. I think I am going to ride a bicycle for 20 min everyday after work, when its not soo hot.

Sharing our pre-band experiences and emotions

I have been struggling with my weight all of my life and I knew that gastric bypass was not for me. One night I finally hit rock bottom and said I can not be this big anymore. It hurt to walk. I am getting the lap band in 2 days. August 1st is my date. I am glad that I will be getting this surgery, plus If It was not for this surgery I probably would have never found out that I have severe gallstones and my gallbladder needs to be removed. Good idea I think I will name my band too. What a great idea! Hmmm I am thinking of a name now.... this might take some time, because I want a good name. Thanks for your post. :Banane56: -
I went to my first dr. appointment in June and today I had my surgery sheduled for August 1st. My prayers go out to you. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. :biggrin1:

I am getting banded on August 1st. Usually how long do most doctors make you wait until you can exercise? I was just wondering....

I am a 9-12 grade teacher too. The first year you are going to get so much help from the other teachers in your school. If you ask you will get. But this is something you have to figure out on your own. My favorite website is www.funbrain.com They have online activities and where you can create a quiz or test and have the students go to the computer lab and take it online. Its cool. Important tip: I have been in education for over 10 years. Email has been the best invention for teachers. Its is so easy to to email parents and them to email you back. I would suggest setting up all parents in a distribution list at the beginning of the year. And when tests or important info comes up you send one email to all parents. This is great when I have a test or a project due. Just be yourself and you will do great. :gluck:

Breasts (women only)

I am going to be banded on August 1st. Right now I am a 44DD and I know years ago...when I was in my early 20's I wore a 36D or a 38C. Which I found out is the same. One might just fit better. I have heard of having a breast reduction with a small implant is better. Because of gravity they will fall again later...in 10 or so years after just a lift surgery. I know that after losing some weight I will miss my 44DD especially when the mass in them is gone and they are at my belly button. Has anyone had a lift with a small implant and how has that worked for you? Any suggestions? I do not mind going to a C cup at all I just want them to be full. -
Today I set my date to be banded on August 1st. Yeah! I will post as soon as it is over and I can type on the computer. I am nervous as too. Its a scary thing to have surgery and know that things do not go wrong. I have been praying for this and it is finally here. Beleive me God would not be letting me have this surgery if it was not a good thing. Everything would get into the way of me having this surgery and its been everything but. I went in for my 1st consultation on June 6th and I am having my surgery Aug 1st. Things never go that smooth for me in my life. So I know this is a God thing.

I do not have the exact date yet. I am a teacher and I hope I can get this done before school starts. I have an appt thursday to schedule my surgery. I have been told by the nutritionist to stock up on the following 1. Water (There are flavored waters out there with Splenda) which taste great. 2. Jello 3. Clear broth 4. Protein drinks.... at www.i-shop-here.biz are some great Protein Drinks. They have all different flavors. And if you spend over $50 its free ground shipping. I have been trying all different protein drinks and Protein Bars. The protein bars (especially the toffee ones) are great and I have been practicing chewing them slowly and they actually melt in my mouth. I will try them out when I am on mushies. See if I can eat them. They are great for Breakfast. :biggrin1:

I got a call yesterday July 21st that I was approved to get my band. I am a little scared too. But I know this is going to be the best thing yet. I also have to get my gallbladder removed because of gallstones. I am excited to get on with this new part of my life. I have friends that say I should not get this done and friends that support me. Its only a win win for me because I will not have all of this excess weight. I have an appt on Thursday to go in and finish everything before I can schedule my surgery. Its scary to know this will change alot of my life. But on the otherhand, this is going to be the best decision I have made regarding my weight and health. Just try to be positive, it will all work out.

Do You Still Have Your Gall Bladder?
K-CEE replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well they say if you have the 3 f's you will most likely develop Gallstones Female Fat Forty Well I am not quite 40 but I have been on diets since I was 12 and all that rapid weight loss could not be good. I found out yesterday that I will have to have my Gallbladder removed during surgery. Maybe this will help speed the insurance company up and it will be a quicker approval. :clap2: yeah! -
I am new to this website. I have not been banded yet. Waiting on insurance approval. Yesterday I found out that I will have to get my Gallbladder removed too. It just freaks me out. I am told my doctors is the best at removing them. But it is still freaky. Has anyone had theirs removed during lap band surgery?
