How do U know where the port is?

I am new to this site and recently had my surgery 2 weeks ago. I have what may be a dumb question. Where exactly is the port located? I have 5 small incisions that have healed really well. I dont fell any pain or soreness at any of the sites. Am I suppose to be able to feel the port?

Am I making the biggest mistake of my life?

I was banded 18 days ago, and I had the worst jitters. I was approved for the surgery in Nov.08, but kept changing my surgery date due to fear. I suffer from panic disorder that takes the smallest fear and turn it into a major event. From the bottom of my heart I will tell you that I wasted 6 months worrying for nothing. The procedure lasted 45 minutes. I woke up to a small tummy ache, but no real pain. I felt sore for the first 48 hours and its been all up hill from there. The hardest part in the first week was me getting bored with the liquid diet. I went to creamy and soft food the second week and I am a happy camper.

Hi Everyone! Just got banded yesterday!!!

Hang in there because it gets easier day by day. I was not hungry for the first 5 days. Moving to creamy foods, especially yogurt and pudding was like winning the lotto. The key is to keep a positive attitude and to remember that this is the first steps in taking back your life!
  8. I was banded on 4-08-09, by a wonderful doctor in Beverly Hills, Ca., Dr. Salimitari. Even hours after surgery, I was able to drink broth, eat jello, and popsicles without any problems. The key is not to dring anything extremely hot or cold. By the second day, I was able to get in my 4 glasses of water by the end of the day. This is very important, since I am on a water pill for my hypertension. By week two, I transitioned to creamy and mushy foods with no problems. I pureed Healthy Choice Soups, including my favorite, chicken tortilla. I personally love cream of wheat, or the maple n brown-sugar Malt-O-Meal for breakfast. I did have some hungry moments, especially when I did not take in the proper amount of water. But, I must stress that a hundred percent sugar free diet is a headache waiting to happen.
  9. I must admit that I was apprehensive at first. I researched the surgery and doctors in my local area. Some of the postings on this site did scare me, as far as post-op complications. I am happy to say that I was banded on 4/08/09, and I have had no complications and very little pain. I felt discomfort only in the first 48 hours. I had my surgery done in Beverly Hills, CA by Dr.Salimitari. I was impressed by the doctor's bed side manner, and his great staff. For those who are out there still unsure if they want the surgery because of the post-op recovery. I can personally say that I would do it again in a New York minute. The key is to be positive going into the surgery, and trusting your doctor.
