  1. Hi - I had my surgery in Mexico (Dr. Ortiz). At NovaBody Solutions the doctor uses fluoroscopy for the fill, so they can see where to inject the saline . Costs about $200.00. Very professional and friendly. NovaBodySolutions 2696 West Walnut Ave Garland, TX 75042 Tel: 972-665-2639 http://www.novabariatrics.com/
  2. I was banded on 19 August with Doctor Ortiz. My second band. Don't ask...long story. Anyways...I have gone from 192 to 170. I have walked every day...keeping my heart rate up. My incision area hurts, but I am trying to keep it off my mind.
  3. No I didn't. I went to someone in Las Vegas recommended by Dr. Ortiz office. It was a horrible experience. They didn't have Flouroscopy. Digging around...trying to hit the port. Jeepers!
  4. Folks, I am getting rebanded on 19 August 08. As you may guess...I am a little nervous...not about the procedure, or the surgeon. Just staying overnight....very different...but exciting at the same time.

    Getting hungry after fill

Hello - I had a second fill on Jan 26. I had the flu...so only drank tea and Protein shakes the first few days. Then for a week I could eat. Suddenly last week I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Two spoons of soup. I am burping, gagging. Even when I drink water! An air bubble forms and it won't go down. Although I know this will subside in a few weeks..I guess I'd like to know...how many weeks. I am thirsty! Thanks!

    Fill in North Texas

I tried my first fill with a fillcentersusa.com doctor in Las Vegas. He was obviously new to the whole procedure, had the book out and everything. Took three tries, no numbing, just jabbing. It was so painful, I took pain meds for two days. My first real fill was today (Oct 5) with Novabody Solutions in Garland TX. They accepted me even with my lapband being inserted in Tijuana. Cost was $200.00. The doctor used a numbing agent, then a sonograph to find the port. It was so fast...and painless... I could hardly believe it! They can be reached at: novabodysolutions.com or by calling 972-665-2639. They are located within Vista Hospital of Dallas. Thanks so much to their team...I am back on my way to losing weight.

    Liquid Stage Recipes

My doctor instructed me to stay on Clear liquids from day one to day 7. From Day 7 only an addition of yogurt (plain). I made soups: 1) chopped filet mignon, onion, red peppers, garlic, mushrooms and black pepper. Add low sodium beef broth. Then add chopped broccoli. Simmer for about 2 hours. Come back and pour through a strainer. It's delicious! 2) chicken cut up into strips, onion, pepper, carrots, peas, mushrooms, pepper. Add low sodium chicken broth. Add poultry seasoning. Strain. This makes alot of extra broth, and the flavors are great and filling. The cooked part I gave to my husband. He loves it! I finished if off with a pineapple flavored popscicle. For a snack I had a sugar free orange Jello. ~~~ Today, I started phase two and ate a non fat plain yogurt. Additionally I added a soft boiled egg. I mean...it's about the same consistancy, both are Protein. Good for healing and it was really great to chew something! For lunch my broth. For dinner egg drop Soup. I seem to be able to digest it all. ~~~

Surgery on 6/20/06 - Gasping and fever

Thanks everyone. I called the surgeon...but no reply. So I called my good ol' Mom. (She used to be a nurse) and asked her about the fever...she told me it could be my body adjusting to the surgery, take Tylenol (liquid) and if the fever goes up...then go to the Emergency room. Well, it went down and has stayed down. The gasping has subsided, so perhaps it was part of the anesthesia? I feel much better today! Thanks for your support and responses!
