Jodi-T~ I had an echo, it took a long time! It's not bad though, if you got through everything else already, the echo is nothing!

s1m1~ I haven't been banded yet, but I can relate to that feeling. It's strange to comprehend a world without food for me. I am a person who really enjoys life and I live it up, I always have, and so I LOVE food...I love to eat! I enjoy going to restaurants. So...this is a big step, but I realize that as much as I love to live it up...in order to do that I need to live. So, this is for my children, for me, and to be around and be healthy for a long time.

Hey macdeb59! That is so cool! We are band sisters! I have done my pre-op, I did that a little over a week ago, and I did my psych eval on Tuesday, and my meeting with the nutrition guy yesterday. ~whew!~ I am FINALLY finished with everything and meet with my surgeon next Wednesday, at which time I start my pre-op diet. I had thought that I would have to do a liquid diet, but I found out yesterday that it is more of an Atkins type diet, for the purpose of shrinking my liver. This weekend will be the real *last supper* for me! I plan on having a BIG Tex-Mex meal at Chuy's (a very yummy restaurant here), and another big one on Wednesday after I meet with the surgeon, and then it's time to count down the final 2 weeks and prepare! I am SO excited I feel like I could cry tears of joy! I have had many mixed emotions...from "am I crazy to do this?"....to "I need to get everything in order"....to "I am so happy I could burst"...to "Man, I will miss my old friend food"....I am all over the place to say the least! *hee hee*

Just a little rambling pep talk...
moon goddess replied to Carlene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I needed that Carlene! Thanks! -
It's weird how each place that does the surgery requires different things for us to do. Mine has asked a lot from me, but in a way I am glad that they are being very thorough. It's just a pain in the ass!

I'm feelin' kinda Kinky.....

I can't wait until I have this problem!!!

Little Bindi is such a beautiful child, and has her dad's spirit! I think she will carry on his legacy the way he would have wanted. The Memorial Service was very moving!

mzsmartypantz~ I am getting a little excited about the shakes in a weird way too! I have been pigging out on a *last supper syndrome* binge for the past month, knowing that the surgery would be around the corner, so I am getting *fed up* (pun intended) with things that are bad for me! Today I did my barium swallow (ewww!), my echo, ekg, and bloodwork, my consult with the exercise physiologist, and I had to re-schedule for the psych. eval, but that will be next week, as well as my meeting with the dietician. ~whew!~ Then all my pre-op stuff will be over and then it's on to meeting with my surgeon again, and preparing for the big day. It kind of bothers me that they haven't given me the date yet, but I am sure that I will know that very soon. It's like waiting for a baby, I just want to know when and start getting ready!

Okay....first I put myself with the August Bandsters...then it went into the September group...BUT...this time...it WILL be the October group! I go for my pre-op testing tomorrow, then it's on to the dietician soon, my 2 week diet, and then surgery...so I am on my way now for sure! I will post my date as soon as I find out!

I was only working part-time at the time, I was substite teaching, so I had that day off and had just dropped the little guy off at school. My daughter was still at home getting ready for school and a friend of mine who lives in New Jersey, and had worked on Wall Street for Canton/ Fitzgerald with many of the people who were killed that day, called me and said, "Turn on the T.V. NOW!". I put it on the Today Show and watched as the first building had just been hit and said, "What the hell? Is this a movie or something?"....It was surreal! He told me what had happened and we hung up the phone. Then I watched as the second plane hit the building and I just felt completely numb. I had just been to NY the weekend before for Labor Day and had walked past the WTC many times, so I just felt this feeling of disbelief. After the buildings collapsed I called my husband (now ex), who was in the Army in Korea overseas at the time, he hadn't heard the news yet, and I told him and said, "I am really freaked out, I have the feeling that you are going to have to go to War now."..... It was a really tragic day for America.

Best wishes to those of you who are about to have the surgery! Last week I was approved! Yayyy! So, this week I am supposed to go to the hospital for all of the pre-op tests, blood work, barium swallow, and echo. Then the next week I meet with the dietician and start the lovely pre-op diet, and then it's my turn! I still don't have the date, but it's looking like either the very end of September, or beginning of October. I SO wanted to be a September bandster with the rest of you! There is still hope, but hey, now I am definitely on my way!:clap2:

It's been bugging me all day that earlier I made the spelling faux paus stating, "crock's rule"....indicatiing that perhaps I thought that crock pots were the bomb. I am stating for the record that in fact I meant "croc's rule". Okay...now I feel better. *hee hee*

My children loved the guy! I feel sad that he is gone, but I agree that it was doing something he loved doing. He is very young and leaves behind a sweet family, and I think that is sad regardless of any actions he had been a part of that created controversy in the past. Rest in peace Steve! Crock's rule!

Hey Aussie's! I am an American but just saw the news about Steve Irwin, one of your own. I am sure that he was very loved in Australia and I am sorry for your loss! We love him here in America too!

Thanks for letting me know Iziksmom! I am really excited about getting the package, it will let me have a fun holiday all week long now!:cheer2:

Okay, here is my update... No band date yet BUT I finally got the statement in from my doctor, so it's been submitted and now it's just the final stuff from Humana, and then they told me that it would go very fast! I hope that I don't have to wait until October, I have been waiting and wanting this since June, well even before that if you count the year that I was considering this and doing research, but if that is what happens I will deal with it. Congratulations to everyone who has just been banded and about to be soon!

Nana~ Hey! Weren't you the one that entered a contest a while back in Grapevine? How did that go? As for the party, I did the slumber party thing for my daughter a few times and she loved it! We had a fashion show thing where I had them dress up and I did their makeup, then we played music and I had them "walk down the runway"...it was hilarious! They did a scavenger hunt, and cake and all of that. They stayed up until about 4 a.m. though, even after I repeatedly got up and told them to get to bed...but oh well, they had fun and that was what mattered! Have fun with it, they grow up wayyy too fast!

Congratulations! I am a Texan too! I am in Austin and still waiting to be banded! -
Princess n the p~ Me too... I think it would be good for anyone that did send it, like Denika, and so sorry you got in the car accident, I realize that things like this can happen, and I am truly glad you are okay. Anyway...so if anyone had someone and didn't send it, or you did send it late...I think it would be nice to PM them to say who you are and what the situation is so that we don't feel stupid for keeping an eye out for something to come, and getting our hopes up. And Mr. P'Nut, Dawg, thank you for letting me know that it wasn't me, I appreciate you communicating about it.
