r2ht4u~ Hey! What we do is when it gets close to a holiday, K@t has been in charge and will tell us to post if we would like to participate, then we message her with our addresses. Her DH draws who gets who, and then she messages us with our secret pal. Then we go shopping and send it before the holiday! It's a lot of fun!

La Madam~ Thank you so much! I got the gift yesterday and I was so excited! I love it! The ghost earrings are adorable and I will wear them a lot before Halloween, and the cool snow globe ghost that lights up is awesome! I put it with my other decorations, my son thought it was really cool! I appreciate it very much! Happy Halloween! Michelle (Moon Goddess)

Wow threebeauties! There will be 4 of us *bandsisters* on the 19th now! I can't believe that we are less than 2 weeks away from this now! JDru~ I had to swallow barium too...I can relate, it was awful! The camera thing you mentioned is really bizarre, I hadn't heard of that before. Technology just gets crazier and crazier! Jodi-T~ I am doing the low carb diet right now too, the first day I felt really tired and I think my body was just in shock from going to eating everything I want to being so restricted, but now I am feeling really good. The thought you and the hubby had of dieting like this also crossed my mind, but then I thought, "No way!" I have come this far to get to this point, so there is no turning back now! Good luck to everyone this week! You all rock!

You know...I haven't owned a scale in over a year now, and I am now wanting to go out and buy one today, I take that as a good sign! I can't remember the last time I looked forward to weighing myself!

Awww...kayleesmom, you are so sweet! I love this group too! Good luck to everyone who posted that they are about to go, and my thoughts are with everyone who went today! I can't even keep up anymore, we do have a lot of people! Oh, and welcome to everyone who just joined us! threebeauties~ Oh girl...I started by just telling a few that are closest to me, but I have been thinking that I would be banded since August! It was dragging on for different reasons, first I didn't have a statement I needed from a dr. in Dallas so I had to make a trip there to get it, then I had to wait because they changed patient advocates on me at Southwest Bariatrics, etc...etc....anyway, so here I am! So...I had all of this time that went by that I told more and more people. I am glad that I did though, because I have SO much support! My friends, family and co-workers are all so happy for me. If poeple have said things to me that were negative I brushed it off, because I could care less. This is for me, and it's my journey, and I am 100% sure that I am doing the right thing for me! I have been happy to tell people about it because many people have questions that I think could help them if they or someone they know in the future decides to have the surgery too. I know that I was a sponge and soaked up every bit of advice and info I could get from people who had this done. As far as my kids go, the older one is 21, so she is okay with it and very supportive. The little one is 11, and he is a little worried, but I have explained to him the health problems I would face if I stayed overweight, and how much I want to have energy for him again, and I have told him that I will be fine many times to reassure him, so he is doing alright with it too. Today we had a company picnic, and it was the first day of my pre-op diet! To tell y'all it was difficult would be a total understatement! I was wanting food a lot, but after I got through it and got through this day, day 1, I felt proud of myself! I will feel great when I get on the scale before the surgery and see a little weight lost too, so it's all good! Not much longer ladies!

helensmith~ Everyone has a different amount of time that it takes to get to this point where we have surgery. It depends on many things, but primarily what kind of insurance you have and what they require of you to be approved. If you go the self-pay route, it would also be faster for you. Another factor is where you plan on having your surgery and what they require from you. As far as my own personal journey, I went to my seminar in June, and am being banded this month. Don't let that discourage you though, some take longer and some not as long at all. As for your surgery, I would definitely tell them about it! You don't want to endanger yourself no matter how much you want this procedure. It's not worth it...and who knows, maybe it is a surgery that won't make much of a difference as far as how long it takes you. Good luck!

    Banding versus Bypass

For me after a lot of research, bypass was not even an option and lap band was the only way I would go for weight loss surgery. I want to keep my stomach constructed the way it was made.
