    June 2006 Band Crew

Hi All; I'm checkin' in with everyone. I was banded 6/19, and I haven't had a fill yet. I've lost 18lb, post op, although I am able to eat anything. I've been a little frustrated lately, because my weight loss seems to be the result of dieting. I know the band is a tool, but I am working on will power here. I hope there is more restriction with my first fill. Any advice/war stories about how to approach food after my first fill?

    July 2006 Band Crew

I was banded June 19th, and have not yet had a fill. At this time I have absolutely no restriction on what I can eat, although the amount has been somewhat decreased. I have heard that rice is a no no, but yesterday I went to lunch with friends and had sushi. I only ate a little of the rice, but it seemed to go down just fine. I am wondering if others have had a similar experience prior to their first fill. I expected to have trouble eating...meaning some restriction. I was told I would only be able to eat about 1/2 to 1 cup of food at a time, but I am able to eat 2 cups, although I try not to. So far the only difference I've noticed is that I do feel full faster. I used to eat huge plates of food, and that has been cut way back. Because I've not had any issues with pb's or foods getting stuck, I've a little worried about how to approach food after my first fill, which happens next Monday. Any advice, or war stories would be helpful. I am losing weight though, as of this morning I weight 268, so I'm hangin' in!

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hi All; I was just banded this last Monday, and I wanted to introduce myself to the group. My name is Alberta...you can just call me Alberta..ha ha. I weighed 300 when I went into see my doc, Dr. Robert Cahn in Boise ID, I was 286 on my surgery date, and today tipped the scales at 279.6. I seem to be doing pretty good, although I'm ready to chew a shew, I'm so hungry. I'm sticking to the liquids pretty closely, but have resorted to a little non-fat cottage cheese blended with non fat yogurt to qwell the beast in my belly. I posted my recipe for Black Bean Soup in the Liquid Stage Recipes forum, if anyone is interested. I also cobbled together a cheese soup, but didn't write down the ingredients. It's probably too high fat anyway, but sure did help the hungries. I've been reading the posts over the last couple of days, and I'm impressed by some of the stories, not to mention the tips and recipes I've seen. Any way, I'm happy to meetcha all, and I hope to get to know some of you better. You seem like a great bunch! I hope I did the attachment right, I tried to upload a pre-op picture of me. Here is my e-mail address: alberta48@qwest.net

Made this yesterday, and boy, it sure hit the spot. High in Protein too, without the powder! How Often Do You PB

Hi, I think I understand what you mean by PB. That's when something doesn't go through the stoma, right? So can anyone tell me what the acronym PB actually means, please? Thanks, Alberta

    Bread?

The liquid stage is proving a little difficult for me, and today, I ate a half slice of bread! Yikes! However, I'm even more alarmed that it went down with out a murmur from my stoma. I did soak the bread (sans crusts) in my very liquid mushroom soup. In fact it was mushy. I've never been a big bread eater, but occasionally would eat some very dense multi-grain breads, that made me feel all warm and macro-natural or sumthin. Anyway, I'm not going to beat myself up over that little ole half slice of bread. I've been doing very good so far.
