    please help

I'm curious....I thought banding was supposed to help acid reflux. When did you develop that? I haven't taken my nexium for 4 nights and haven't missed it. However, only on liquids still. Wondering if it will return with food.
  3. Absolutely call your doc! I had to much saline in my band postop and they had to remove it. I spent 6 miserable days but now am feeling MUCH better. Call now.

    One Week Bandiversary

Well, I have survived the first week postop. Gas pain, too tight band and liquid diet. All of it. I am pretty excited that I am under 1 week now of liquids only. I go back to work onthe 29th and am starting mushies then, I don't care if the darn book says the 30th! Today is better. I was able to swallow my pill without it sitting in my throat for an hour and liquids are going through my band with very little pain. These are all good things. I still seem to have alot of bloating since my pants are tighter around the waist then they were preop and I've lost 10 lbs since then! I know this too will pass. Patience, Patience. I was in town at a convenience store for about 5 minutes and saw 3 women get out of separate cars and all were clearly obese or morbidly obese. I felt sad for them and I didn't even know them. I know they have felt the same pain I have. It also strengthened my resolve that I have done the right thing and will see the rewards soon enough. Slow and steady! I picked the turtle to be my ticker marker so it will remind me every time I look at it that this is a long war with many battles and I have to just keep trudging on. Still having some port site pain, mostly from the unfill I had on Monday. That was pretty uncomfortable and I have some new bruising there. Incisions all seem to be healing well. I'm feeling pretty good except for bending over is still a little painful. Mostly I'm bored. So much I want to do and I have so much energy. Now I can't really use it. I am signing up at the gym tomorrow and will start working out when I go back to work next week. I know I won't be able to do much at first but again, baby steps. Overall, I'm feeling better and am hoping the worst of it is behind me and the next 6 days of liquids goes VERY FAST!! Congrats to bashful1269 who was banded today. Welcome aboard!!

    Beware! Contains Negativity

I thought about not even doing this today but decided I am in this for the long haul, through the good, the bad and the negative. I am 5 days post op and feel terrible. I woke up and cried this morning. VERY unlike me. I am getting very little nutrition and only about 40 oz of water a day. Every sip hurts. Not to mention the gurgling going on inside. I have a call in to my doc, oh crap, they just called. They think there may still be fluid in my band from the preop prep of the band and want me to come in. I guess I'll get a defill before I planned. Not sure I'm mentally ready for this. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and go because I am pretty much in pain constantly and this SUCKS! OK, I guess I'll go................... OK, I'm really going now. HOpefully I'll feel better and be in a better frame of mind when I get back. Sorry for the negativity but I did warn you!

    22 weeks out

I know it seems slow. We all want to lose it quickly, but 31 in 22 weeks is more than 1 lb per week which is healthy. I know, who wants to hear that, right? I catch myself hoping for the big numbers and keep reining myself back in convincing myself I will be happy with 1-2 per week. Hang in there!!

VENTING--- so don't read unless you mind me bitching!

OK, since we are husband bashing......Monday when mine left for work I was in tears. I was in pain and felt so bad. Did he call and check on me one time? HELL NO!!!! WOW! That's feels better!

    Back on Track

At least I hope. 5 days postop and I had to go in for an unfill. Apparently I had 4ccs in my band and must have alot of swelling because EVERYTHING was getting stuck. Even water. Procedure wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. She had to push a little harder than normal (so she says) because of my swelling from surgery but no major pain. I still cried like a baby because I have been so emotional the last few days. I think from so many days on liquids, no nutrition to speak of, and probably somewhat dehydrated. Well, now I feel better. Still a little sore so I have to stick with strictly liquids, no puddings, cereals, etc. for a couple of more days. At least I have been able to get in about 60 oz. of fluid today, including 1 protein drink. Tomorrow will be better.

    Any protein drink ideas?

Ooops, sorry that is GNC not GNS!

    Any protein drink ideas?

I was gagging on my chocolate protein drink so got some unflavored whey protein today and mixed it with G2 (Gatorade's Light version - 25 cal/8 oz). I used orange and whatever the light blue is. Both were very drinkable after the sweet, sweet, thick, chocolate I've been on for 15 days now. Another thread I was on suggested Muscle Milk from GNS. Lots of different flavors and I guess GNC will let you return if you don't like it. I'm going to look into that tomorrow. Good Luck!

How do you know if your fill is too tight?

I was just banded 7/15 but felt like an elephant was on my chest the entire time. Went today and they removed fluid from the band. Still a bit tight but at least I can drink water without it hurting. When were you banded? I would say call your doc and see what they say. Good Luck!

    Darkest Before the Dawn

Bad day. Couldn't shake the blues. DH went to a rodeo and I didn't go because I didn't think I could stand to see everyone eating hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, etc., etc. I don't wish I had alot, I just wish I had something. Anything that is NOT SWEET! Never thought that thinking about eating something sweet would make me want to gag. Guess that's a good thing. I doubt it will last, though. Anyway, reading LBT and getting info from other bandsters helps so much and I know things will get better. Just one of those days, I guess. I want to remember this though. I want to remember the price I have had to pay for letting myself get to this point. I want to remember the price so the reward will be all the sweeter. Listening to Matt Maher (contemporary gospel -- really good, check him out) and gazing out at the beautiful weather God has blessed us with today. I'll pray for strength and know things will be better tomorrow.

  22. Is it normal to not be able to drink water without it hurting? I read about everyone feeling no restrictions immediately after surgery and can't help wondering if something is wrong. I'm 3 days post op now and am just starting to feel like I can drink very small sips wihtout it hurting.

    1 Day Post Op

Ok, the Up from yesterday has come Down. The pain isn't so bad. Most of the gas has moved down, at least out of my shoulder. I still feel like I have an elephant on my chest, but I think today it's just a baby elephant. I am forcing liquids down sip by sip by sip. I'm not hungry and even the water seems to just sit on my chest. I know it will get better I'm just a bit blue today. Mostly bored I think since it's too hot to go outside and nothing much I can do inside since I can't really bend or pick up anything. I guess I'll let my DH torture me by taking off my bandaids and go take a shower. Maybe that will perk me up. Reading all the great blogs helps though, so to all of you, Thanks for sharing!
