Hello All, Just a little update on me. I notice that last Thursday that my belly button was sore and draining more than usual. I thought maybe it was because I wore jeans and maybe the button on my jeans irritated my incision. I wore loose dresses all week hoping that everything would start feeling better. All it did was get worse. My incision was draining so much it scared it me. My belly got really swollen and red that I could barely walk. Monday I called to the Bariatric clinic but for some reason the nurse over there sent me to my PCP. She wasnt there so I ended up going to injury clinic. Basically he gave me antibiotic and told me to call the Bariatric clinic. Dr Alami heard that I called and about my issue. He had them set me up to see him yesterday morning. In a nut shell my incision got infected and he had to open the wound back up to drain it. I had to go back this morning so he could show sisters how to pack my incision 2 to 3 times a day. He took me off for another 2 weeks and I got back to see him on the 26th. Chef- I hope you are feeling better. Heather-You day is coming near. Are you excited? Next week is you new birthday, right? I hope everyone else is doing great. Oh, I have lost 16lbs so far.

Glad to hear they found out what was going on. You will feel better in no time. I wasnt feeling well today. Actually the worse I've felt since surgery. I feel weak and my stomach is soooooo sore. My incision on the belly button is bothering me. I think its from the button from my pants. My incision stays moist and my stomach is swollen. I had the chills today but I dont know if its from the cold or my surgery. I will give it a couple of days before I call the Dr.

Oh my Chef...... Please find out what that is. That;s not good you are falling down. I hope you didnt hurt yourself. Let us know what the Dr says. Wine- I have not gotten sick yet. Started on stage IIII. I ate lunch meat this evening and it felt weird like it didnt want to go down but I didnt throw up or feel sick.

Hello all, I went to my follow up with Dr Alami today. The day he released me from the hospital he told me not to weigh myself until my todays appt. I complied and was so shocked that I lost 13lbs in 13 days. My blood pressure was low so I need to make my appt with my PCP to adjust my meds. He advanced me to stage III today. I had 2 pieces of deli turkey, cheese and 1 cracker. It went down ok... I guess I will play it by ear from here. Kind of scared to try the eggs. I really need to work on my Water intake. Also I caught a bad cold this weekend and my asthma is kicking my butt. Chef what is up with you almost faintin?. Do you think you are getting enough Protein in? I usually go for the greek yogurt and Protein shakes to put me over 50 grams of protein. Please get that checked out.

Good for you Chef.... I'm on stage 2 and have my appt next Tues. Hoping and looking forward to being advanced to Stage 3. Guess I will be drinking a protein shake for the 4th of July

Good for you Lisa.....!!! You are doing great. You will be there in no time. They didnt do a x-ray on you? All the people I know that had the lap band and sleeve through SSF& Richmond Kaiser had this done. Maybe its the request on the surgeon. U drink that nasty juice to check for any leakage or for lapband ppl to check position and make sure things go down ok.. They did not feed me (broth) until I had my x-rays done. It was called a upper GI scan. I'm happy it was done. I got to see on the screen myself there is NO leakage.

I just love SSF Kaiser...... Well earlier in my posting I told you guys about the jerk Radiology Dr. I called yesterday and made a complaint. I spoke to the manager over Radiology and told her that considering the discomfort I went thru from the surgery my stay there was great with the staff except for him. I told her he did not have any bed side manners what so ever. Never considered the pain I was going threw being that I just had surgery less than 24 hrs ago. I also felt it was unprofessional that he would reprimand the technichian in front of me She apologized for his actions and said she takes this very seriously. Especially since I say my stay there was great except for that incident. Which reflects bad on her. She said she would discuss this with the Chief of Radiology and see where he wants to go from there. During some part of the afternoon I missed a call from SSF Kaiser but they didnt leave a message. Later on that evening the manager from Radiology called me again and said she spoke to Dr Duh (the jerk) and he tried calling me at home to apoligize but noone answered and he did not feel comfortable leaving a message on my answering service. She said he was very embarressed and sorry that he made me feel that way. He told her its no excuse but he was having a bad day. She thanked me for calling because they need the positive and negative feedback in order to improve. I just thought that was awesome!!!....

Dargar- How was your 1st day back at work? I really hope u werent too wiped out. Oval- thats great 21 lbs. I will be glad when I start seeing the weight come off.Hello All, I have been on this journey for over 2 yrs and I have finally arrived to the losers bench. I was sleeved last Wed the 22nd and was released Fri the 24th. The Dr's and nurses were great with the exception of the Radiology Dr but that's another story. I did call the manager of Radiology and made a complaint. She said she takes this very seriously especially since my stay there was great with the exception of him. He said he will inform the Chief of Radiology and will go from there I will not let that jerk rain on my parade. My favorite nurse was ERNIE I was sleeved by Dr Alami. With the assistance with Dr Le they did the 1 incision thru the belly button. I was a lil nauseated after surgery but that all went away once they discontinued the morphine. I appreciate Dr Alami making SURE I was ok to go home. I didnt mind staying the extra day. I am doing and moving around great that I was able to attend a concert on Sat at a small intimate venue. It was kind of weird that my table was sipping on wine while I was sipping on water. NO REGRETS! It didnt not bother me at all. I also went to church on Sunday and was able to wear heels with my flip flops close by . I stopped the Tylenol on Sunday and I am doing fine. I am able to get in 45-50 gram of protein in a day. I just really need to improve on my water intake. I am only able to take in about 24oz a day. I need to do better. Its still a trip to me on how little I can eat. I try to go for things high in protein because they say that can prevent your hair from shedding I have no craving so far and it doesnt bother me when my kids are cooking. I hope it stays that way. My surgeon told me not to weigh myself until my appt with him on the 5th I will try to comply

Hey Dargar, If I can just get rid of this gas it will be great. I stop drinking the premixed protein drinks and replaced it with powder and silk milk to see if that will help with the gas. I been walking and getting around but this gas will not budge. I went to a concert last night. I have my pain meds on hand but I was fine. It was at a small venue and we had reserve seating. Today I got up and went to church. I feel pretty good but would feel even better if this bloating feeling pass. Let me know how you do going back to work tomorrow. I would imagne having more time off. I'm up at 6am moving around but by the time 10am rolls around I'm tired and need a nap. I nap a couple of times a day.... Hopefully I am ready to go back to work on July 18th or I will need more time. I would hate to go back to work to have to go back out on disability again. What I cant understand is they gave lap band patients 4-6 weeks off and that is a less invasive surgery. Dr Alami said after the 10th day I will be bored at home. ( I doubt that seriously) But we will see. He said the time allotted off is mainly you getting use to eating with your sleeve. I just hope I have the energy to go back on the 18th

Your asthma is just like mine. My asthma usually bothers me when I get a bad cold and the cold goes into my chest. During my stay in the hospital the staff made sure they kept my asthma maintained. They had me take puffs of my inhaler the morning of surgery and while they were prepping me they gave me a breathing treatment as a precaution. Dont worry Heather u will shake your cough before you know it. Just stay hydrated and dont eat anything too heavy. My asthma usually worsens when I eat heavy while I'm sick. You should probably try to make some chicken ginger veggie soup and eat on that for a couple of days. That usually makes me feel a lot better along with rest and liquids.

Hey Dargar, I was at SSF Kaiser. The Radiology Dr was a jerk and that's speaking nicely about him. His name was Dr Duh (go figure) I will be writing a complaint about his bed side manner. This entire journey they have explained to us how important it is after surgery to sip sip sip. Well when I went down the next morning for my GI scan he wanted me to take these big gulps.It wasnt really what he wanted me to do its how HE SAID IT!!!.. I was already nausious and having stomach cramps. He wasnt polite or considerate that I just had surgery the day before. When I was standing there with the cup in my hand waiting for him to tell me to drink he said you are going to have to hold that cup in your other hand. After a couple of swallows he said let me see how much juice is in your cup. I showed him. He said NO!!! you are going to have to take bigger gulps than that. I said look I am nausious and my stomach is cramping but I did it any way. My stomach started cramping really bad. I clinched my stomach and said its painful my stomach is cramping. Then he tried to be nice.. Oh and when he was watching the screen he yelled at the Radiology Tech. I told the tech I was reporting him and he said please do because he's rude. I also told Dr Alami. Monday morning I wll be calling down there to complain. Other than that the staff there was wonderful. My favorite nurse was Ely who prep me for surgery, Ernie, Annie and Moreen who were my day and night nurses. Ernie shined above all of them. He was a sweetheart. Dr Alami was great..... He did the one incision with me. He went thru the belly button. I also have one small incision right below my breast.The day after surgery he came by and checked on me 3 times. He kept me in the hospital for 2 nights but that was fine with me. Im glad he made sure everything was ok before he released me from the hospital. I have a little discomfort but I thought it would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy worst than this. I will be glad when the gas leaves me and the cramping stops but other than that, its getting better each day.

I am home now. I was released this morning about 10:30. The stay was GREAT with the exception with the Radiology Dr. I will be writing a complaint about him.

Hey VSG Family, I am finally on the other side. I had my surgery yesterday. They do not know if I am going home today. I am still waiting.... My surgeon has been by twice. I was feeling nauseous so they stopped the morphine..... Heather, hang in there. It will be here in no time. It's not as bad as I thought. I didnt feel like I was hit by a mack truck maybe it was more like a pick up truck +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
