We have a dog who is 4YO. Her name is Angel and she is part Corgi and part mystery dog. We adopted her from Petsmart on a Saturday when one of the local rescue groups had their animals in there. She was only 8 weeks old when we got her. She is my baby and I am her momma. She is very smart, very affectionate and loves her squeaky toys. :success1: We also have a guinea pig named Tommi. I have no idea how old she is. We got her from a person in a bar who was giving her away. She thinks of me as her momma and squeaks like crazy when she hears my voice. She stops once I start to scratch her nose & give her some apple. I wubs my animals. :clap2:

That's what my daughter called it when she was 2-3YO. She was being babysat at my friends house who had 2 sons at the time, and everyone was potty training. Her oldest, who was just a few months older than my daughter went bottomless during his training. She tried to say penis but said peanuts. LOL! My daughter calls her private sector her wootie. I don't know where it came from but it's stuck. She is now 11YO and she still calls it her wootie. LOL! My same friend who used to babysit her has a 3YO daughter and she also calls it her wootie. :success1:

Oh yes absolutely, they'll still do it. But I was told that if the liver was too large, instead of 5 little incisions it would be one larger incision. The thought of that helped me stick to it...save for the "Saturday Pasta Incident", but we don't need to go into that. :success1:
-
I notice mine too, but I kind of like it. Reminds me that it's there. :success1: But I'm only 2-1/2 weeks post op so we'll see if the feeling goes away or intensifies as I lose weight.

That's awesome! That's also wonderful your sister was there to share it with you! :clap2:

For dinner I mashed up some brocolli florets and mixed them with some instant mashed potatoes. Added a little salt and some I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. I let my daughter taste it and she ate what was leftover. I thought it was pretty darn tasty.

I'm going to be honest here with you but I don't want to scare you with what I'm going to say. I had watched Dateline just one too many times before my procedure. Those reports about people waking up during surgery but not being able to move and feeling everything freaked me out. I cried about it. I had deep talks about my concerns with the doctor, the nurse and the anesthesiologist. They all assured me it would be fine, and it was! I remember entering the operating room (BOY WAS IT COLD! ), sliding from the gurney to a narrow bed, laying down and then that was all she wrote. A friend of mine who had gastric told me the last thing I'd remember was the light but I didn't even make it that far! LOL! No light! The next thing I knew the nurses were waking me up. That stuff they give you works gooooood. :clap2: You will be fine! It's normal to be nervous. They won't lose you , they tag you with that bracelet in registration and I agree about writing the procedure on your stomach if you want to be safe. My doctor came to see me right before they wheeled me in so I wasn't worried at all. You'll be fine! You'll be more than fine because you are having these concerns beforehand and you can address them and make sure nothing goes wrong.

Okay, I'm boring. :tired LOL! I had chicken salad again for lunch today but this time with pear sauce. Oooh, aaaah! :hungry: Heh-heh! Protein shake for breakfast.

Post-op diet: how long did you do liquids?
Loving-It replied to brittu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did two weeks of anything I could suck up a straw. That was the criteria. Mostly shakes and soups. Then now I am on phase 2, mushies, anything you can eat without teeth. -
Now I'm having second thoughts....
Loving-It replied to New_Bander's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had second thoughts too. I am the most skeptical person in the world and I was like, "I'll believe this works when I see it." It'll work for everyone else except me. I've been overweight all my life and really had a hard time imagining myself thin and healthy. I thought I was gonna upchuck the day of my surgery, even as they wheeled me in I thought, "What the heck am I doing?" I'm so glad I did it. I decided that I was nervous as I am entering an unknown. I've been big for so long (almost 25 years) that it's hard to picture myself living a life I've never known. But I deserve it dammit. I've never been married before either, haven't had many dates, but I'm hoping to change all that! I'm getting my life back!! Reclaiming the sucker!! And now that I've accepted the change I'm actually excited! The thought of buying clothes from a regular store. The thought of going to the amusement park and being able to ride anything! The thought of being able to do anything without being so easily exhausted!! My new world will be limitless!! It's within my grasp and I'm going to reach that goal!! :clap2: Nervousness is normal...just shake it off and know that you are doing for you one of the best things you can!! One of the best gifts in the world!! GET EXCITED!!:whoo: -
I'm 5'9" tall. I have no idea what my goal weight will be. Right now I just want to get below 300 and then move on from there. I think I should probably be around 160-175 but I just haven't decided yet. Baby steps.

How Long Before your Bad Habit were broken w/Lapband

I haven't gotten that far yet, but I'm afraid it's a demon I'll have to face eventually. *sigh* -
How Do You Take Medications?
Loving-It replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Any pills I take have to be cut into four pieces. My doctor did tell me that I could take the Tylenol Rapid Release gels. Here is a link to their website that has a little video to show how they work: http://www.tylenol.com/page.jhtml?id=tylenol/news/subprrg.inc. These I don't have to break, just take them. I haven't had to take any yet but like I said, they are recommended by my surgeon so I'm sure they are okay. Right now I am taking chewable Centrum which are absolutely horrible, but I take them. Once they are gone I'll go back to my regular Centrums, just broken into 4 pieces. -
It's okay as long as you mix it up a bit. Pureed fruit or meat would become tiring for every meal. If you like cream of wheat that's a different texture, as are Soups. For the chicken salad I was told I could put onion and mayo in it as long as the onion is pureed. The mayo is nice at making it creamy but you have to be careful of how much you put in as it adds lots of extra calories. My doctor was funny, he said you could always use low-cal mayo but that stuff doesn't taste good so who wants to. I swear I love my doctor! I just keep telling myself, it's not forever, it's just two weeks. YOU CAN TOTALLY DO IT! If I, the pastry/pasta queen can do this, then ANYONE CAN DO IT!! :clap2:

I hit my 2 week post-op on Friday and am very hesitant to bend all the way over to the floor. Squatting is better. I don't know what is causing you to be dizzy but if you get dizzy bending over, I'd stop bending over. Not be a smartie, but just seriously, be careful. It never hurts to call your doctor and express the concern. He might tell you it's normal.

I had the procedure done in the US. Honestly, because I was so blessed with great insurance, I wasn't aware of the high amount of folks heading out of the country until I registered on this board.
-
Very good advice! I wasn't planning on staying either until the head nurse talked me into it while I was 5 minutes before heading into surgery. Boy was I glad I decided to stay, I appreciated that stay over more than I can ever express. I too packed an overnight back just in case. I pretty much slept and watched TV. OH...BRAG ALERT...I had a geriatric bed that massaged my body to prevent bed sores, and then they put those massagers on my legs to prevent blood clots. I was rubbed all over & I liked it!

Gas pains. Is it food?
Loving-It replied to FunnyDuddies's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was on the liquid up until the surgery and have had hardly any gas. I've burped a lot but I'm guessing you meant the southern door. -
Jellis about the meat & the bar, I had to cut all that stuff. I had to be all liquids. I did the shakes, some soups and sugar free Jello & sugar free popsicles.
-
I was to get between 70-80 grams. The shakes I drank were either Atkins or Slim Fast Low Carb, which they have 20 g. each. Granted I had to have 4 a day but it helped me with always being able to "eat" something. How much are you getting now?

Sharp Pain in Abdomen. Any Ideas?
Loving-It replied to ChicagoCoco's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree, it sounds like the gas they use to pump your abdomen up. I don't know how long my pains lasted but I want to say it was gone within a week. Might have been less. It might also be your port. My port is to the right of my belly button and it caused me the most pain. It's much, much better now...can't hardly feel it. I agree again, call the doctor. -
Summer is our slow time, fall the busiest. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference come September. The business that I'm in requires me to go to convention centers and hotels to walk tradeshow floors seeing clients and possibly new clients. Everyone else here is a size 2 (no joke) and I hate being on the floor sweating and waddling around. September is when it gets really busy and I can't wait to see how I do!! Use the time you have to say your goodbyes to foods and prepare yourself mentally for the restricted diet that will follow. That will help you so much! Start stocking up on Protein drinks. Cheaper to buy it in spurts rather than to have to buy a lot of it at one time. Just my little bit of advice.

Here is a link I posted on the Lapband FAQ board. You can actually watch a lap band procedure being performed. The woman in the video is covered except for her middle. But I don't know if they did that since it was being broadcast live on the web. http://lapbandtalk.com/showpost.php?p=245071&postcount=20

How exciting! It will be here before you know it! I was on pins and needles waiting for my surgery date, and now it's come and gone and my head is still spinning.
