To Tell or Not To Tell.....

I only told a few people and even now I'm regretting telling them. I had forgotten my lunch and ran to KFC. I got a piece of chicken and took the skin off...I'm back on regular food now. This person knew all about it, we've talked in great length about things and how it works. The crap I got...I was told "I thought you were only allowed to eat boiled skinless chicken?" Yeah, nice. I don't need a coworker policing my food, especially if it's one stinking piece of chicken. Shoot me now! :help:

    I dont understand?

How can you go from a size 16 to a 12 and not lose any inches? That right there speaks volumes. Sounds like you are doing something right to me! :clap2: Oh, and my doctor says to not concentrate on the pounds as they will drive you crazy.
  4. A woman on another message board had posted about it and her success.
  5. I am 4 and a half weeks post op, just went to regular food on Friday, will have my first fill August 15th and am down 23 lbs. :clap2: I still have another month till the fill so hopefully I will stay on track and continue to lose. My doctor considers anything lost prior to the fill a bonus so I'm very happy.

Not feeling well on liquid diet?

I used and still use the Slim Fast shakes, but I use Low-Carb which has better numbers than the high Protein Slim Fast shakes. 2 net carbs and 20 g protein, during pre-op I drank 4 a day. Make sure to drink plenty of Water or Crystal Light. As my body went into ketosis the water got fishy tasting so thank God for Crystal light. I drank some broth but also Campbell's Soup to go creamy mushroom or blended vegetable medley. Also sugar free popsicles, low carb yogurt smoothies and sugar free Jello. I was told to get at least 60 g of protein in. If you are feeling weak you might not be getting enough. I hope you feel better. :-(
  7. I thought it might be nice to list what you ate for a particular meal, listing what phase you are in, as it might give someone else an idea of something to eat. I hate to list just a food item in the recipe thread. I'll start: :hungry: I'm in the mushie phase and for lunch today I had pureed chicken salad (more of a paste) and some banana apple sauce.
  8. My doctor said that during this phase it is normal to either lose only 3 lbs or even gain 3 lbs because of the food available. Make sure to drink lots of Water. Regarding quantities, he said to start out with a few tablespoons and then wait a few minutes to see how you feel. Then eat a few more. He said he thought between 1/4 c to 1/2 c total, which I'm closer to the 1/2 c., but I've noticed it depends on what I'm eating. Do what I do, take a bite of food and then put the fork/spoon down inbetween each bite. That helps you to eat much slower, which is good because you will feel fuller sooner.

    What Are You Eating Today?

Okay, for breakfast I had some chicken salad and applesauce. For lunch I had some leftover meatloaf and cottage cheese. I need to up my Water, I'm having a hard time of it here the past few days.
  10. Angelina Jolie, no doubt. Plus she's tall and I like to be tall.

    White Lies

Don't you hate that! Steams my broccoli when people say that. They have no idea. The easy way out is doing nothing and staying obese. Wonderful for you that your DH is supportive! I think he'll be the most important one for you to need on your side. :clap2:

From What Tree Did you Fall?

I'm the sensible Fig Tree. :girl_hug: I'm impressed, that's pretty dead on...especially the part about having GREAT INTELLIGENCE. :clap2: FIG TREE (Sensibility) -- very strong minded, a bit self-willed, honest, loyal, independent, hates contradiction or arguments, hard worker when wants to be, loves life and friends, enjoys children and animals, few sexual relationships, great sense of humor, has artistic talent and great intelligence.

I'm ready, but my HEART isn't...

That's great news! :clap2: That's good they are aware of it going in and are comfortable with proceeding! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!! July 5th will be here in the blink of an eye! I'm excited for ya!!

I've never had hummus. What's it taste like?

    Overeating or PB?

Another tip is to put your fork/spoon down inbetween bites, give yourself about a minute between bites. If you keep your utensil in your hand while you are chewing and swallowing, you are able to load up another bite before you swallow and you should take your time. Putting your utensil down will allow you to slow down and sense fullness sooner.

    Sleep & Pain

I slept in my bed, but I had a massive pile of pillows behind me. Also, it's just a regular level bed. In order to get out I had a sturdy stool that I'd grab and use to put my weight on rather than depend on my abdomen muscles for lift. Also, in the bathroom, sitting up and down, I found that if I put both of my hands at the top of my legs (right below my hips) and put the pressure there, it took all stress off my abdomen. I did have to grab the sink sitting down though....one hand on sink, one hand on thigh. It's not that bad though. I found it became easier and easier each time I got up. That's why I'm glad I took advantage and stayed the night in the hospital. I got used to the pain and had nurses there to help me while I adjusted. Goodl luck!

    What Are You Eating Today?

I sent you a PM earlier today. :grouphug: OKay, for dinner (mushie phase) I stopped by Boston Market and got some creamed spinach. Quite nice! :hungry: :rolleyes Duh, I forgot part of my dinner. I also got the meatloaf and mashed that up, sans the gravy. Their hamburger is really fine so you don't have to do a lot to it to smooth it out.

How aware are you of your port?

I don't know if you tried this but I can feel it more when I am laying flat on my back and sort of press around. You'll know it when you find it. LOL! :grouphug:
  20. Does anyone's doctor do this? What do you think of them? My surgeon has it once a month, and I am going to my first one July 11th. It's in his office, both surgeons plus the nutritionist attend to answer any and all questions. I want to make it a permanent part of my post-op and attend each month. Do you attend anything like this? Inquiring minds wanna know. :biggrin1:

    White Lies

At my job, the only people that knew exactly why I was leaving was my manager (who is also my friend) and the owner of the company. As far as everyone else was concerned I was on "vacation". Outside of work, if anyone asks anything, just say you are trying to eat more healthy. If you go into having had any procedure done, that will bring up more questions. Remember, just because someone asks does not mean you are obligated to answer if you don't want to. It'll be okay. If you start making up stuff, it becomes harder to cover, plus if you tell someone you had gall bladder surgery or whatever, what will you do when you say that to someone who has also had that procedure and wants to compare notes? I think it's easier to say as little as possible. But that's just me. :grouphug:

How aware are you of your port?

:grouphug: This morning I got in my car, I'll admit I was a bit in a hurry. I don't know what I did exactly but the minute I sat down I felt this horrible burning pain in the area of my port. It went away in less than a few minutes. I think I tore some scar tissue or something...I say this because my doctor warned me that it'll happen from time to time & to not worry. Does anyone here who is several months post op still experience anything like this?

    What Are You Eating Today?

Last night for dinner (still in the mushie stage) and I had some mashed brocolli florets, topped it with spaghetti sauce and a little parmesan cheese. It was pretty good. Today for lunch I am having some small curd cottage cheese and some chicken soup.

    What do you drive?

I drive a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, burgundy with tan cloth interior...but the best part is my AM/FM radio with no knobs. Yeah Baby! :clap2: Seriously, I love my car, it's very comfy and has been so reliable. Just normal maintenance and wear, nothing outrageous...but I haven't priced replacement radio knobs yet so who knows.
