    10/22/09 Six Month Bandiversary!

EXCITING!! and congratulations. Love your blog and your honesty. I am 3 months and 35 (maybe more as I only weigh myself monthly)lbs lost, could not be happier with my success!

    Puzzled!

You say: "I could eat almost anything, I just had to be careful!" This is why you have only lost and regained 15 lbs...........you have to know better. Follow the rules and you will lose the weight, stop trying to manipulate the band. Good luck to you!

    I am back on Lapbandtalk!

I use EAS/Myoplex carb control in choclate fudge, it is a premix, 110 cal. 17g of protein and 4 carbs and it is delicious. Good luck to you and congrats on your great progress!!

Defeated my fear, I am doing it!!!

Remember the band is a tool not a magic wand. I was banded 7/2/09 and have lost 33#s. I did not have to do a preop diet. I struggle everyday not to eat the "wrong" things, the band will/or may not change that desire. The onus is on you to make good choices. I could easily eat the junk and not be successful. The bottom line is you have to make good choices and follow the band "rules". I wish you luck!

    It's a lie

So true Greg, well done. I always enjoy your blog. Thanks for keeping it real. The band works, I was banded 7/2 and I am down 33 #s in 3 months. IT WORKS!

    Ok, now I'm getting frustrated.

Just a thought, Slim Fast is higher in carbs and offers less portein than some protein drinks. I would advise you to try another brand of protein drink. I use a premixed EAS/Myoplex Carb Control protein shake, 17g of protein/110 calories and 4 carbs (which means less sugar). Try to limit yourself with the scale. I know it is hard but it can be frustrating and can undermine your mental success. Just a thought. Good luck to you!

    Confused about success...

Thanks for being so honest.........90% of this weight loss thing is mental, so is dealing with the attention. You need to convince yourself that you are a worthy person, fat or thin. I am so happy for you that you have met your goal! I wish you continued success.

    Food Examples...can you help!?

Good luck to you. I was banded July 2 and I have lost 35# (possibly more as I do not weigh myself regularly, I have another fill in October so I am waiting until my appointment to weigh in. I made a pact with myself when I had this surgery I was not going to obcess over the scale, that I would follow the rules and the weight would come off and it has so far) Here is a list of a typical day for me: Breakfast: Myoplex protein shake 110 cal and 17 g of protein and coffee about an hour later. I have never been a fan of eating when I get up so this works well for me and allows me to get in the much needed protein Lunch: Mostly a protein shake again, or a few (typically 2) pieces of deli turkey wrapped in provolone cheese or some scrambled eggs (1 egg) Dinner: Fresh veggies of some sort and a few bites of protein (mostly fish) about a cup of veggies and 3-4 bites of protein/Sometimes just veggies I have found I really almost never need a snack. If I do want something I will have a piece of cheese or some nuts. So far I have had no complications with anything I eat. But, I did not have a soda or fast food habit. I have friends who did have the habits and they are not having much success. Kick as many bad habits as you can before surgery, you will be more successful. I have had my first fill and I did notice a difference in my restriction. I also walk for an hour everyday and have started lifting weights every other day. Good luck to you! The band is not a magic wand but a tool to help us get to where we want to be with our weight, just remember that and you will succeed.
