    Banded Yesterday!!

Glad everything went so well. So glad they put your nerves at ease. It helps so much to have a caring and calming staff of people on such a big day. Be blessed.

May 1st Banders...How did it go?

My surgery was super fast as well. I left the house at 5:35 to get over to the surgery center by 6:15 am, and was back in the comfort of my own bed by 11:00 am. I have 5 incisions, and they are all very close together. I am allergic to adhesive, so I was stitched up instead of steri-stripped. My tummy is pretty purple and sore. I didn't feel hunger until this morning about 5:30 am. It woke me from a deep sleep, so I drank a protein shake and went back to bed. So far, so good. I did have to use my pain meds, thank God for those. My stomach feels like I really overdid an ab workout, especially when I take a deep breath or laugh. I haven't had a poo yet, and imagine that might hurt from the soreness as well.Gas finally started moving Day 3. The doc came out to talk to my mom after all was done, and said he recommended me moving to mushies on Day 4 or 5 if I needed to, instead of liquids for an entire week. Apparently the band isn't one size fits all when it is unfilled, so I've got quite a bit of room around it according to the pics. He said I was kind of on the "skinny side" once he got in there. I knew I was a skinny girl in a voluptuous body! Post op appointment is May 14. My first fill is June 2nd.
  6. Congrats on your new BDAY!!! Good luck in this journey you're not alone!!!

    Banded Tomorrow----way so nervous

I get banded in the morning. Good luck to you. My pre-op diet lasted two weeks and wasn't too bad. No bowel prep, sounds like I should be thankful for that. However, I take Miralax a lot, it's the gatorade I don't care for. Keep positive.

WOW Almost MAY 1st - How is Everyone doing?

Two more days of the pre-op diet:thumbup: My only issue has been blood sugar. I seem to crash if I don't follow a strict plan of action of eating or drinking a protein shake in a certain order and time every day. As for nerves, there are none for having the surgery ( I've had plenty of those on knees and female issues) but a few for life after. I guess the unknown of what foods will work for me and what won't is a little scary. I don't want to do anything that doesn't after reading posts about PB's, sliming (still not sure what that is), and food getting stuck. Regardless, I am beyond excited to drive to the surgery center at 6:15 am on Friday the 1st. Good luck all!

    Mayo Bandito's dates only

    May 1, 2009
  10. Yay! I'm May 1st. It'll be here before I know it!!!
  11. I know it is a decision everyone has to make, but I chose to tell everyone. I have been so embarrassed about my weight my entire adult life, I didn't want to be embarrassed for finally getting help to control it. It's a great feeling to be able to share with family and friends, know you have their support and prayers, and have them help keep you accountable. To have strangers (yes, I mean I've told everyone!) encourage you and wish you the best is an added bonus. My surgery is May 1st, and I have no regrets about people knowing about it. I hope you find what feels right for you. Good luck.
