I thinks it's a great idea. I personally have found that I have more cash around the house now that I'm not buying junk to eat. I think I may adopt your husband's idea. But if it's gonna be an expensive item the goal has to be a biggy.

Hey! Banded 4/13/09. How soon am I permitted to do any exercise besides walking? Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Can someone explain how some posts can get over 6,000 hits and others get zero? Is this subforum working? Did I write the wrong stuff in my post? Am I supposed to be more pro-active? If I'm missing something or doing something wrong or NOT doing something will someone eventually let me know?

sandiegophotog...Thanks for your open honesty. Being 26 days out I can honestly say you have inspired me to believe I didnt make a mistake. That this too shall pass. That I will one day see that this is the best decision I could have made for success in my weight loss journey. Thank you! I certainly would not consider letting that surgeon do my surgery either way. I'm somewhat insulted by her and her obvious attempt to intimidate our fellow poster.

Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
dubbee replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Greeneyez...walk, walk and walk some more to move that gas, I layed on my belly too, that helped as well. Good luck...you'll be burping the alphabet in no time at all...lol -
Hello all! What is the difference between full liquids and "mushies"? Are mashed potatos a mushy? What's a puree? I'm almost hooked on mashed potatos with broth. Damn it's good! I think it may have halted my wight loss though. I had it for lunch and dinner 2 days in a row! About 1/2 cup each svg. Whew! I feel both ashamed and relieved to have said that out loud.

Someone PLEASE explain difference between liquids and mushies. It's all so confusing...clear liquids, full liquids, mushies, pureed. Different names for same stuff? H...E...L...P!!!

Just curious. Is one more expensive than the other? Did you or your insurance pay for something you didnt receive?

Awwww...her need support? Well her got it..lol That's why I posted here. I need a little xtra. I'd love to offer you some of that support. I'm pretty new and am learning a lot myself. But I'm getting a lot too. Have you made the final decision to get the band? Weighed the pros and cons? I see you have posted a WHOLE lot, so I'm sure you have learned a lot too. This forum has been my saving grace. Have an appointment with a psychologist next week to help me deal with what my surgeon calls my "mourning the loss of my best friend-food". At first I was insulted, then the clouds kinda opened up and honestly, I don't like what I am seeing. But I guess that goes with the territory, huh? Let's keep in touch ok?

Will I Ever Stop Thinking About Food?!
dubbee replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Citygirl4616...you are awesome...sharing the wisdom of your personal experience...I just had to thank you! Sharing with us what you've learned from your therapist is incredibly selfless..thank you I appreciate it. You give us hope that along with this "tool" we can and will overcome our obsessions with food. I hate calling it that. I guess I've never been honest with myself. Boy have I got some healing to do. -
You're an angel! I'd love and appreciate your guidance. If needed, I'd enjoy offering you encouragement! I'm see the psych dr tomorrow. My surgeion thinks I am "mourning" my "best friend"...food. I wasn't sure if I should be insulted or relieved, I chose the latter. Unfortunately it makes sense. Can you believe it?!?! Thanks, again!

I am 3 1/2 wks post op and have noticed that as more weight comes off the more I can feel the port. It's not painful or uncomfortable though. Something I found that works for me is while I'm on my stomach, I pull my knee up to my chest and it is quite comfortable. As long as I don't move ON it, all is good. Which begged the question I posted elsewhere about the possibilty that intimacy could possibly "loose" the band.

Morning all! Just want to get clarification because I have yet to throw up. I was banded on 4/13/09 and need some reassurance and/or a reality check. Now, when one regurgitates does it affect one's band at all. I mean, is it safe, so to speak? I'm still on liquids and the closest I've become to bringing anything back up is from not having had a bowel movement in 5 days. Keep hearing about food getting stuck and that scares me. I just keep picturing this tiny hole that the food is able to pass thru and the thought of eating real food is scary(although I can not WAIT!) OK, enough..thanks guys. Sheila

cravings after banding
dubbee replied to lavender714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"advent of a new lifestyle, not the beginning of punishment for the rest of your lfe"...I LOVE IT!!! very wise and very timely for me...thanks Cathy, I needed that. My banding was 4/13/09 and to be honest I don't have cravings as much as I miss eating. Just being able to pick up a fry or have a forkful of that spaghetti I just made for my family, is what I'm learning to live without. I think it's called control or lack of. I will win. I know in a couple months I'll be able to enjoy those things if I want, but on a much smaller scale of course. So when I wish I could partake, I think about why I laid on that operating table and let that surgeon put that foreign object in my body. I think about no longer having aching knees, needing help getting out off of the couch, feeling my clothes getting tighter, obsessing over having a heart attack someday, just feeling good about Sheila...and that lg bowl of ice cream, that oil-soaked hoagie, that dbl cheeseburger and fries don't hold the same enticements for me. Good luck and hang in there. I've lost 20lbs already and I swear I could pull my jeans down without lowering the zipper or undoing the snap! Woohoo -
You got me excited! Where can I get mine?
-
Thanks ladies. I just wantged to make sure that you can't really do anything to knock the band off or the port out of it's stitches.

Greetings! My name is Sheila and I was Banded on 4/13. At my followup(10 days) I had lost 12.5lbs. Been married almost 25 yrs to a wonderful man. We have the pleasure of having our daughter and her 7yr old twin sons live with us. At this point I so very much miss eating.

Congrats! 16lbs-woohoo! What are you ingesting exactly?
