Los Angeles Lap-Band Focus Group - GET PAID TO ATTEND!
Avrietta replied to Alex Brecher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
With no return phone call from Regina and no further posts on this link, I guess there isn't any focus group. -
Optifast, medifast, protein shakes...
Avrietta replied to Pangaeus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is also another meal replacement which I have tried and you can order it on line. What I like about it is its only 70 calories. Its called "Secure Meal Replacement," by ProCapsLabs. -
Optifast, medifast, protein shakes...
Avrietta replied to Pangaeus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if Opifast is offered anywhere else, but it was a few years offered through Kaiser. You are limited to the length of time you can do the program. Its works, as long as you are willing to follow the usual diet instructions - exercise - and while on the program, attend classes to learn how to change your previous eating habits. I did the program, lost weight, but not as much as others who were also on the program. Stopped, gained the weight back and have since been banded, which has been a successful tool in assisting me to keep the weight off. Prior to being banded I did try to go back on Optifast, however, that was far too hard. -

Please include me and a friend (we were banded at the same time). Regina, just left you a message. -
I sleep all over the place, but since being banded (November) I wake up finding myself on my stomach, although I have started off on my right side, then knowingly turned to my left. Had to sleep on my back for the first 4-5 days and then ease back to sleeping on my sides.

Sounds as though its pretty regular to get a fill every month. I have had one extra one only because my doctor wanted to boost me along a little. However, I had my last fill this past Monday, I'm still restricted and only able to eat small amounts at a time, and must take my time. I get quite hungry before I'm actually able to eat too, which just makes the meals more enjoyable. Good luck.

I developed a hiatal hernia & reflux from the band - did you?
Avrietta replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cleo's Mom: Ops, not sure how I posted twice. I am still learning how to use this. Just read your posts from 5/3 and 5/4. Gosh that is a small band. Glad to hear you have a new doctor. Hope things improve and you have some real success. -

Avrietta replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cleo' Mom: this is an interesting post and I would like to hear what has happened. Have you had the results of the second opinion? I had a small hiatal hernia before my banding, with the banding it has been repaired. I had terrible reflux before banding too, and that has completely gone as well. Sorry to hear of your problems and certainly hope they have or will be fixed real soon. Sorry about your husband too, that's a sad story. -

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
Avrietta replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat as you. Struggling. Just got a reply to a previous post which was insightful. Its under the thread "Fills and delayed Restrictions". In brief, it was suggested to remember the band is a tool, find a plan to follow and get moving. -
Fills and delayed restriction
Avrietta replied to taylorgirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your right. I have been suck with the thought the band would do all the work for me. I certainly have cut down on the amount of food I consume. Having just had an adjustment I certainly feel the restriction right now. And I have also talked with my buddy, whose banding was the same day, who also hasn't had success with the weight loss on the fact we need to move! Yes finding a plan to follow is probably going to to be answer. Thanks again for the insight. -
Fills and delayed restriction
Avrietta replied to taylorgirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must certainly be doing something very wrong. My surgery was 11/5/08 and I have yet to loose 30 lbs! I've had 6 adjustments at least. I'm going to call the doctor and find out what he thinks is wrong. From some of the posts I've read it seems I might have a leak. What a horrible thought.
