3 February 2010: I have completed all of my preoperative workup successfully, and I'm now just waiting to get the preauthorization from the insurance complany to go ahead with the surgery. Although I'm a little spooked about the surgery itself, I know in my heart I've made the right decision, and I've got a great support system in place. I started the pre-operative diet on 26 January- it's going well (I've lost 13 pounds so far!). At this point, it's a patience game.7 Febuary 2010: Was told last week that, due to cancellations because of the crazy weather we've had, I'm likely not to have my surgery until mid-March. Ugh! Plenty of time to go bonkers!!19 February 2010: I finally have a surgery date!!!!! Good heavens, it's only a week from today!!!!! I lucked out- there was a cancellation, and because I stuck with the preop diet, I was able to take the opening. Now, I have a lot to do, cleaning up at work. I'm planning on working from home for about a month after surgery, so I can get my diet stabilized before I have to do that 2-hour-each-way commute again. Off to the hospital first thing in the morning to get labs drawn. This week will flash by, I know, and suddenly, I'll be recovering :-)
