Banded yesterday - can't pee!
travelgirl replied to Redfred02780's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read on one of the threads here (not sure which one) that one woman wasn't able to go at all, and she said that the thing that finally helped was to have warm Water poured over that part of her anatomy. Don't know if this will help your situation or not, but it certainly can't hurt! Good luck! -
NO ADVIL!!! Switch to liquid Tylenol, and sip your fluids VERY slowly. Sip, wait, sip, wait.... You're probably still swollen inside from the surgery. Take it easy, and don't panic! The feelings you're describing actually went away around day 5 or 6 for me. The pain you're having that radiates into your back is still from the gas. Walk, walk, walk, or rock in a rocking chair to ease that pain. Hang in there, you'll get through it!

I love how supportive my husband has been through this whole thing. He's been my knight in shining armor! The very best thing you can do for him is to be supportive, and understanding! You are SO welcome here! Any concerns you have, just ask away!

Hear! Hear!, Susannah! Get someone else to do the "dirty work" for you!! Port Pain BEGONE!!!

Good luck! See you on the other side!

Gyfts, Thanks! Yes, my lungs thank me every day! I feel so much better since I quit. In fact, most of the time I think of myself as a non-smoker instead of an ex-smoker. Anyone who just quit will know what I mean. For everyone wanting/needing to quit, the cravings DO go away. I haven't wanted a cigarette in a VERY long time.

Banned 4 days ago
travelgirl replied to skinnyrebal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A few questions: Do you have stitches, staples, or steri-strips? You should ask your doctor, and follow his (or her) advice, but... I have steri-strips. They told me that I could take off the bandages after 24 hours and shower but not bathe, and not to rub them, and then pat them dry. And then to leave the bandages off as long as the incisions weren't oozing or weeping. If they were, to go ahead and put a clean bandage back on until it stops, but to leave it open to the air as much as possible. Good luck! -
Awwww! I'm so sorry to hear that, Lizrbit! I know you had to reschedule everything once already, and that you were going to have to do this all on your own this week. Now for this to happen! (((hug))) I wish there was something I could do for you. You can hang out here as long as you want.

new, young, and kinda scared
travelgirl replied to purplegirl1818's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everyone is giving you really great advice. The only thing I would add is that you should educate yourself as much as possible about the band. The good, the bad, the ugly, the scary, everything. Your dad might just be scared that his little girl is jumping into something she doesn't understand. Encourage him to come with you so he can see that you're asking intelligent, well informed questions. I hope he comes around. Keep us posted! (((hugs!!))) -
Hello?? Anyone heard anything from any of our newest bandsters today? Just wondering how everyone's doing!! Hope your surgeries all went well, and you're recovering comfortably!!

Banded Feb 5th, but need support....
travelgirl replied to TX_Kimmie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was banded on Feb 5, too. You want to make sure that anything you eat has NO chunks in it at this point. Try some cream soups diluted with skim milk so they're really runny, and don't try to eat it if it's too hot. Just a bit warm seems to go down best, and take very small sips. It takes me 30 minutes to finish a cup of cream Soup. Hang in there, it will get better. Come join us on the February 2007 Bandsters thread! See you there! -
I quit, but ONLY with the help of an accountability partner and the nicotine patches. The patch didn't help that much except for keeping me from wanting to kill people, the accountability partner helped a lot more. I knew she was counting on me to not smoke, and I was counting on her to not smoke. There were times that knowing how disappointed she would be in me was the ONLY thing that kept me from lighting up. NOTHING else kept me from it. Good luck. Just know that it CAN be done, it's hard, but not impossible. I smoked from the time I was 10 or 11 (inhaling!) until I was 28.

You've got my prayers! Good luck on Thursday! Keep us posted! -
Well, good luck going! Hope you feel better soon!!!

Marissa, what did you find out when you went to the ER?
-
Yeah, I'm with you. I can finish a whole 10 oz of cream soup. But I'm very satisfied afterward, and it stays with me for a while. I think the point of the cream soups at this point is that they go through the band easily. I'm sure we'll notice a marked difference when we go to the mushies and then the solids stages. Don't worry! I was also told not to worry myself about trying to lose weight at this point, this time is for HEALING. (((hugs)))

Clear Liquid diet choices???
travelgirl replied to skinnyrebal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep on keepin' on! You'll get there. I had a very similar pre-op diet. The exception: I could have UP TO 1 cup of cottage cheese per day. I would eat it almost one curd at a time just to make it last longer. LOL! -
Cant Believe I did this 2 Myself!
travelgirl replied to Marissa424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was banded one week ago tomorrow. I'm in the full liquids phase, and I find that my favorite soups are the Campbell's Soup At Hand. My favorite is the Velvety Potato with a little bit of real butter melted in it. YUM! I also like the others, but that is SO good. I'm sorry you're not liking the full liquids phase, but just remember, it's only while you're healing so you don't dislodge your band by eating something that makes your stomach start the natural churning that it does during the digestive process. -
:clap2: Woo-HOO!!! I get full very quickly, too!
-
I had some of the new Campbell's Soup At Hand Velvety Potato....YUMMM!!! I added a little real butter to it (hey, it's potato soup, it's the law!) and it was fab!

 Do you really think you ripped out your stitches? If so, you should call your dr!! Try Krysia's suggestion and make a heat pack out of rice if you have some. And sit in a rocking chair and rock for awhile, that may help ... The pain in your arm is probably transferred pain...
