Yes, I've experienced this, and suspect it to be tied to my very newly diagnosed diabetes. I'm betting that if I'd had a way to check my blood sugar at those times I felt that way, my blood sugar would have been through the roof. Maybe it's time to be checked?:paranoid

I believe it was Jack that coined the phrase "Holy shredded wheat". I haven't started eating it yet, as i JUST got the go ahead to move to solid food again, but I will be having a bite or 3 of that every day to keep things moving. *knocks* Jack, are you there???

You really need to ask your doctor about this. I was told to absolutely not lift anything over 10 lbs for at least 2 weeks, or until I get the ok from my doc. Best of luck!

new, discouraged and ready
travelgirl replied to tnix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
tnix, I just wanted to drop in here and let you know that there is a lady on the February 2007 Bandsters thread that was supposed to be banded on the 22nd, and they accidentally punctured her colon, and they had to repair that, and she has to wait for that to heal before she can go back in for her lap band surgery. She has managed to stay positive about her situation. Good luck! -
Considering Lapband..........
travelgirl replied to quadmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Of course, ANY surgery carries that risk. When you have your consult, have a very frank discussion with him/her about your concern, and they should be able to put your mind at ease. I can't remember the actual statistics, but if I remember correctly, mortality rate is very low. I had to ask myself if the risks that this surgery carries were greater than the other co-morbidities that I was facing, and I decided that with my family history, my diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, at age 33, I was taking more of a risk by not having surgery. You'll have to ask yourself those same questions. Ask lots of questions when you go for your consult. -
Considering Lapband..........
travelgirl replied to quadmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have come to the right place. There are numerous threads on this board that you might find helpful. I was just banded this month, so I'm not sure that I can provide the information you're needing, but I researched everything on the web that I could find, and lurked here and read hundreds of threads before I decided to move forward with my decision to be banded. Happy researching, and welcome to LBT! -
Jport, Are you sleeping on your back? I'm just wondering if your morning drymouth might be due to sleeping with your mouth open. I have that frequently if I sleep on my back. I also keep a bottle of Water by my bed at night so I can drink some water if I wake up in the middle of the night. I also set a timer for awhile for 10 minutes, and would drink a few ounces of water every time it went off, and then reset my timer. Hope this helps!

Sounds to me like you need to call your doc and let him know what's going on. Don't try to get rid of it yourself, you might cause yourself more problems than it's worth. Good luck!

Post-op hiccups normal?
travelgirl replied to hopeful07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hiccup all the time. They hurt at first, but not anymore. I've always been prone to them, though. Usually just one or two at a time. I find now, though, they're usually followed by a weird burp that comes from way down in my belly. No disguising it, or keeping it quiet! I just excuse myself whenever it happens. -
I had my very first NSV this morning!!!! I was getting dressed and I didn't have to use a bra extender anymore!!!! First time in YEARS that's happened! :whoo:
-
Me, too! That's the one I'm looking forward to the most, I think.

Silry, How long do you have to be on clear liquids? I only had to do 3 days clear liquid after surgery, and then I was allowed to move to full liquids, like creamy soups, blended really well so there aren't any chunks, tomato juice, skim milk, protein shakes, etc. My very favorite thing was the Campbell's soup at hand soups and the Campbell's Select Golden Butternut Squash soup. The first thing I had was cream of broccoli soup, blended to smithereens, and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, it was SO good. Hang in there, you'll get through this, just like we all do. (((hugs)))

Holy Geez did I ever get the ball rolling!
travelgirl replied to TheCascadian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kat, what a wonderful post! I have a food saver, and will definitely be using it! AND I honestly never thought about the bacteria on my eating utensils contaminating my food before I ever bring it home.... Great ideas, thanks! Cascadian, congratulations on getting the courage to take the next step. The next month will be gone before you know it. I kept meaning to go get my supplies and get them lined up, and ended up scrambling around the day before surgery!! LOL! -
Progress Report

The Blue Bunny yogurt you're referring to is the "Lite 85" line. My favorite flavors are the Cherry Vanilla and the Vanilla Bean. Mmmmm. -
Mypov, I'm experiencing exactly the opposite of what you are right now. I was banded on Feb. 5, and my husband was at 347. Here's a wake up call if I ever had one. Since the day I started my pre-op diet, I've lost 20-22 lbs. In the same amount of time, my DH has LOST 40 LBS!!!! He's not even trying! The difference? No fast food. No ordering pizza 1 or 2x a week. No donuts/cake/cookies/crap in the house. My revelation: it was ME bringing all that junk into the house. So, do I have any advice for you? Not really. But I can really share in your feelings of guilt, but for a very different reason. I can't believe (ok, I can believe it, but am having a hard time coming to terms with) the fact that I was basically killing us one drive-thru at a time.

Oh. My. Lord. I get to graduate to mushies tomorrow, and I was shopping for some suitable foods. I come across the corned beef hash, and I think, MMMM! I love that stuff, and it has protein! So I grabbed a can and went on my merry way. So now I'm sitting here reading the Nutrition Facts (ok, whatever) and ONE SERVING is 440 calories!! :faint: This stuff should be outlawed!!! No damn wonder my bmi was 52!!!! :tired

I ran a fever of about 99.9 for about a day and a half, they said it was normal to do that, but to call if it got over 100.5. Congratulations, and welcome to bandland!

Good Luck Everybody!
-
That sounds good! I'll have to try it!
-
Awww! :cry Why do you feel like dying? I'm so sorry the liquid diet is so hard, but you'll get through it. Just remember why you're doing it. And if your friends and family aren't supportive, you can always hang out here with us! Make sure to go to your local support group, too!

Post Op: Day 3
travelgirl replied to MyLifeNewChoice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain in your shoulder is from the gas. Get moving! Walk, or rock in a rocking chair with a heating pad... That will go away, hang in there! -
Karlee, what the heck is your avatar? I'm looking at it and I can't figure out what that is to save my life!!:phanvan;)
-
Hi, Megan! Welcome to LBT! I was banded 2 weeks ago TODAY!!! I didn't really have any gas pain until the 3rd day, and then it made me extremely nauseous. I had to take my anti-nausea meds that day. Yuck! Glad to hear you're doing well! Come join us on the February 2007 Bandsters thread!
