1 week out and sick of soup

Oh, sorry! LOL! I didn't read the title....no idea what POPT is, but NSV is a Non Scale Victory. Basically anything good related to weight loss that isn't actually reflected on the scale. For example, I'm looking forward to being able to cross my legs again. That will be one happy NSV for me!
  2. 1. Was your procedure outpatient or did you stay overnight? Outpatient. In surgery at 10:30am, out the door at 3:00pm. 2. Did you have complications related to surgery? No complications. 3. What you were given for at home pain? How many days did you take it? Liquid Lortab. Took half dose at bedtime for a couple of nights to help me get to sleep. Otherwise, adult strength liquid Tylenol did the trick. Only needed the Tylenol about a week, and it's gathering dust now... 4. Pain after surgery for how many days? Maybe 5 days, but it wasn't bad. 5. Degree of pain...10 being your arm was cut off and 1 being a paper cut? 4 or 5 at worst unless I moved wrong or too fast. 6. Doctor and state where surgery was done? Dr. Brent Steward, Topeka Ks :clap2:

    Lunch ???

My lunch is typically 1/4 to 1/2 cup of tuna salad on wasa bread (crispbread cracker type thing, very crunchy) and maybe a piece of string cheese. If I'm still hungry, I'll break a piece of wasa bread in half (they're 4.5 inches by 2.5 inches) and have a little more tuna on that. That doesn't happen too often, though. How far out from surgery are you? This would be a "solids" meal, not a "mushies" meal.... Tuna is considered a solid by my doc.

Well, right now, you have 11 lines, and it only allows 6. You'll have to get rid of some lines, or condense them down, and maybe get rid of the blank lines... Good luck!

    Potato Lasagna!!! YUM

Well, I think I'll try it, and I'll slice the potatoes thinner than it calls for, and add more meat, but it sounds too good to not try once.... And anything IN MODERATION is key! Although I normally try to do my protein first, then veggies, then carbs as per the bandster rules, but once in a while a casserole or skillet dish is ok, I think. Thanks for the recipe, Krystal!

    Jumped the Gun..?

Sorry, but I'm with Jack on this one.... It was a fair question, and here's why copywronger is getting this type of response: There are SO many people that don't follow their surgeon's instructions. While many surgeon's post-op orders vary, you should always follow your own surgeon's instructions. Seems like every other post is someone jumping the gun and moving to mushies or solids before their surgeon recommends it, and then wondering if they "messed up" their band. And just because you don't "feel" any discomfort or anything unusual, that does not mean that you haven't caused a potential problem for the future. And if you didn't have a problem this time you strayed from your post-op orders, that doesn't mean that you won't next time. It's better to err on the side of caution, imho.

WOMEN: What do you use for TOM pain

I loved the children's orange flavored chewable aspirin. I had a lot of "headaches".

WOMEN: What do you use for TOM pain

Sorry, but I must disagree about the Extra Strength Tylenol Rapid Blast not tasting horrible. IT IS SO NASTY!!!!!! And the chewable? EVEN NASTIER! The Night time "warm vanilla" or whatever it is, is equally distasteful. HOWEVER, that being said, I have both liquid versions, and use them when I absolutely positively CANNOT take the pain ANYMORE. And it mostly works ok. Sometimes it doesn't have enough OOMPH, but for the most part, it does the trick. I have to go get some mouthwash now, because just thinking about the taste of them has left a bad taste in my mouth. BLECH!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I think it depends on the surgeon. I had no special instructions for before or after the fill, just afterward to "take it easy, and be extra careful for the first 24-48 hours, and make sure I'm chewing very well, and taking small bites.

Can't hold down solids, what do I do?

Many times, they'll take out part of your fill. Depends on the doc. What happened that started all this? Do you know?

    Burst Blood vessels when pb'd

A nurse friend of mine said it's called petechia, and she calls it "petiki eye" when it happens around the eyes. It's from straining when you vomit, and it's not dangerous. It will go away in a couple of days. It can be a bit painful, and you can use a cool damp washcloth to soothe it.

I'm having the same problem, it tells me that I can't have more than 6 lines and 500 characters in my signature. I can't update what I already have without deleting part of it....

    Binging Banded

You know, Mary, there is no shame in talking to your doctor about depression. There are many options out there for treating it, there is no reason for anyone to have to live with depression. I was diagnosed with depression caused by anxiety, and was put on Paxil a few years back. After a few weeks, I began to realize that I hadn't felt "normal" in a very long time. Not just the few months I had originally thought. Now, I'm on a very very small dose, and I feel normal! Please don't beat yourself up! You're a special person, and you deserve to feel good about yourself! No matter what the scale says, it's just a number, after all!
  18. AAHHH! The Great Debate of Tell Or Not To Tell! Everyone differs on this, it really is a personal decision, tell them or not, it's strictly up to you. You can let them wonder, and not volunteer any information, and if they do ask, you can tell them politely, but firmly that it's none of their business, or make something up...... OR, you can tell them, and then deal with their responses, whether supportive, or not. Personally, I told everyone, and I have only regretted telling one person, who has decided that she's going to be my nutrition police, by trying to sell me all kinds of Vitamins and supplements, which is really getting on my nerves. She's not even a friend, she's really just an aquaintance from the place I work. *shrugs* You have to decide whether to tell, and what to tell, for yourself. Good luck in however you decide to handle the situation. And congratulations on getting your band!
