Getting rid of their habitat is easy in your own yard, but if there's standing water EVERYWHERE because of a flood, that makes it a bit more difficult to manage. There are lakes right now where there should be wheat and corn. And mosquitoes do not recognize the boundaries of my yard vs. the neighbor's yard, or the one down the street....Trust me, I've done what I can, but it hasn't made any difference in their population.

OK, that's the second time I've been told about the dryer sheets. I guess I'll have to try it, at least I'll smell good. Beats OFF or Cutter anyday. I'll let you know how it works for me!

OK, I got my 45 minutes in today. GO ME!
-
There could be any number of reasons for that. You'll have to give us some more information: Have you had any fills? What are you eating, and how much? Are you exercising? Do you have any underlying health issues that cause weight gain or that might make you resistant to weight loss? Are you on any medications that might cause it? And most importantly, have you talked with your surgeon about it?

Nah, you won't miss LB, because you'll find so much more at so many places that you won't have to miss them. Great NSV!!!!!!!

Well, so far today, I'm already at 30 minutes, so only 15 minutes left to go! For lunch today, I had 1 1/2 chicken strips and got stuck..... SO it's back to liquids again for me, and maybe tomorrow I'll stick with mushies. Possibly for the whole weekend, since Aunt Flo will still be here. I don't like being stuck. OH, and fyi, I tried papaya enzyme today, and it helped. Not sure if it's actually what did it, or if the food moved through on it's own, but at least it doesn't taste like a$$. How's everyone else doing? Babygrl, we could almost use the same ticker! LOL

I had a PB episode from hell today at lunchtime. I was indulging in a Nachos Bell Grande for lunch, (that stuff usually goes down pretty easy and tastes good, even if I never finish it!) WELL..... I ate about half of it (which is about the same volume of food that I would normally eat at lunch or dinner), and felt the golfball.....soon after, I was having to spit in a cup because my spit wouldn't even go down.....and a minute or so later, I was in the bathroom with this huge rope of egg-white style slime hanging out of my mouth, I'm gagging on it because it's so gross, and my lunch is coming up a heave at at time. 5 or 10 minutes later (or maybe it was an hour, it sure felt like it), SWEET RELIEF! It's that time of the month when lovely Aunt Flo comes to visit, so I'm blaming her for the extra restriction. Stuck with liquids for dinner tonight, and (drumroll, please..............) I GOT MY 45 MINUTES OF EXERCISE IN TODAY!!!! 30 minutes walking and at least 15 on my NEW BIKE! WOO!

Muscle DOES NOT WEIGH MORE than fat
travelgirl replied to areellady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:clap2: Right on! My thoughts exactly on that particular subject. I have an aunt that was a world class pro body builder for 8 years or so. She'd tell you the same thing. -
50 MILES!!! Wow. I'm shooting for 2 miles to start off with. One mile on my old bike gave me jelly legs when I was done. I hope it was the bike, and not because I'm so out of shape. I've been doing my best to walk 45 minutes a day at a pretty good clip, so I can't be THAT out of shape. We'll see. If it's not storming, I'll go for a ride tonight and see how I do.

It's a Schwinn Searcher. Got it at Sears.

Ok, so I bought myself a new bike last night. Man, what a difference! I dreaded getting on the old one, it was hard to pedal, the seat sucked (even with a gel cover) and the brakes didn't work well, despite being adjusted a hundred times. New bike rides like a dream, smooth, easy to pedal, nice seat, I can ride longer now....I'll keep you posted on my progress...

I have some issues with this as well. Well, maybe not issues, but a couple of concerns. I think it's wonderful that your mom wants to help you this way. My concerns are: 1. If you ever experience complications, will your mom feel responsible? Will she feel let down by you if she feels that the complication is because of something you did yourself? 2. Are your parents the kind of people (mine are) to hold it over your head forever until you feel obligated to pay them back, even though the money was originally supposed to be a gift? 3. If your mom (or parents) think you aren't being as successful as they think you should be (slow loser, or whatever), are they going to harp on it, that they paid for you to do this, and you should be more grateful, and you should be doing more than what you're currently doing to lose the weight, or what did they waste their money on it for? Sorry if I seem overly cynical, but these are the kinds of things that my parents have done to me in the past. I sincerely hope that no one else would have to go through that. It's certainly something to think about, though. Maybe sit down and have a LONG talk with your mom about all the possibilities, and make sure that there would be no strings attached, and make sure that if something should happen, and the best possible outcome doesn't happen, that she won't feel like it's her fault. Best of luck! Keep us posted on whatever you decide. ((((((hugs)))))

Awesome NSV, Tracy! I have lots of them, but the BEST ones are the fact that I didn't need to be put on meds for the 3 medical conditions I was diagnosed with at my pre-op testing. (Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and High Cholesterol) After all, I did do this mostly for my health. The weight loss is a great bonus!

I heart REO Speedwagon, too. I have not gotten in more than 15 minutes a day this week so far. My intentions are good, I'll plan on walking the dog, or riding my bike, or doing the treadmill in the evening, and then get so busy with stuff that I don't get home until almost 11 pm, and fall into bed around midnight. I'm trying, but I'll try harder. How's everyone else doing??
-
I guess I agree with that, I don't want hoardes of people asking me about my weight loss... So, yeah, I'm happy enough with DH telling me how skinny I'm getting. Makes me feel pretty darn beautiful when he puts his arms around me, and they actually FIT, ya know?
-
I was thinking....what a great NSV! I hope someone says that to me someday. Maybe it comes from them being concerned that you're not getting enough nutrition? OR in the case of someone who isn't supportive of you, jealousy? I'm still waiting for someone that doesn't know about my band to notice, and say something about my weight loss. Over 50 lbs gone, and NOTHING. Not that I care, but you'd think SOMEONE would notice! LOL!

Family Functions and Inconsiderate Family
travelgirl replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally, I don't wait on people who are chronically late. If they make a habit of it, I'll tell them that we're starting at whatever time, with or without them. (or leaving with or without them). I have no patience for someone who CANNOT bring themselves to be on time to anything. Once in awhile is forgiveable, but not all the time. It's a pet peeve of mine. -
FYI, Patsy Cline's hometown is Winchester, Virginia. I'm a HUGE Patsy Cline fan!:clap2:

A Long Winded Thank You
travelgirl replied to budinindy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, Bud, to LBT! At 5'3" and 285, my BMI was 52. I was completely miserable, and I had some health issues sneaking up on me. At my pre-op tests, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. I hated clothes shopping, and I'm with you that it's the very last thing I ever wanted to do at that weight. As you can see by my ticker, as of today, I'm down 51 lbs, and was banded in February. I feel wonderful, AND, my diabetes is controlled WITHOUT meds, my BP is normal now, WITHOUT meds, and my cholesterol is coming down, also WITHOUT meds, and my doc is THRILLED that I'm doing so well. So, congratulations to you for making this decision. It sounds as if you are ready for this journey, which is NOT easy, but SO worth it. Let us know when your surgery date is, and we'll be here cheering you on! (and lending support whenever you need it!) -
Family Functions and Inconsiderate Family

My doc wants me to drink at least 8 ozs of a non-caloric drink JUST prior to eating. Once I take the first bite of food, then it's no drinking for me until 30-45 minutes after the last bite. He said the liquid just passes on through the band, and helps you with the full feeling as well. -
Increased Burping/Air - Anyone?
travelgirl replied to Bawilliams1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The tighter my band, the more I burp. And it's exactly like you describe, air barrelling up my throat from my stomach. It's totally not controllable, it just happens. At least with a regular burp, you can control it and make it quieter, there's no stopping this type of burp. I wouldn't worry about it too much. -
Cool. I'll definitely do this the next time I have one! Thanks! It never occurred to me to get rid of those pesky seeds before cooking it, what a mess! I really LOVE spaghetti squash!:clap2:

I slacked off this weekend, and only did 15 minutes each day, I've stopped counting my workouts for the month, I just can't seem to stay consistent. BUT....I'm not giving up, I'm just not keeping track. At the end of the month, I'll go back through this thread and see how many workouts I've done. Meantime, I've done 15 minutes so far today! Babygrl, how did the 20 minute run go the other day?
-
Well, what are you eating? My doc wants me eating my hard protein first (chicken, fish, beef, whatever), then veggies (lettuce doesn't count), and then if there's any room left (usually not much), starches. If you can give us an idea of what you're eating, we can try to help you with some suggestions....
