What is your favorite cliche expression that you wish you didn't use?
travelgirl replied to Chelle B's topic in Rants & Raves
Same here. But in Kansas, they're called "Snow Birds". -
Me, too! I'm on my way!

I'll bite, what the heck is a fluffanutta sandwich??? -
Here's the thread for people who were banded in October. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f98/we-tenacioustens-40011/ Remember, the best advice comes straight from your very own surgeon! Good luck!

TRACY, Look at you! You'll be posting your very own onederland thread soon!

Let's start a mythbusters thread...

I think the mythbuster's thread has been hijacked! -
That's wonderful! I have a ways to go, but I'm working my butt off to get there! You go girl!

I am also diabetic. Even without meds, my blood sugar level can crash at a moment's notice since being banded, so I asked my nutritionist about it, and she suggested to increase my Protein intake. This will help stabilize your blood sugar and help prevent spikes and crashes. It also helps keep you feeling fuller longer. Welcome to bandland! Hope this helps!

Dilemma/confusion would love your help

OMG, I'm scared to even look sideways at a bagel... In the morning if I want something sweet, I'll usually have yogurt. If I'd rather have something savory, I'll have string cheese, cottage cheese, or if I am craving salt, I'll have a slice of sharp cheddar cheese for breakfast. That way I'm getting in some Protein first thing, and I don't get as hungry as fast as if I'd had something starchy. Hope this helps! -
BLECH... to me, the Isopure had NO flavor and the texture of watery sawdust.... EWWW!
-
HA! salad Shooter! I haven't had the immense pleasure of barfing through my nose, bandster style yet. I'll never use my salad shooter again, though, I'm afraid....
-
Try yogurt or runny oatmeal, or if you like cottage cheese (for protein) or some other mushy type food in the morning. Many of us find that we're much tighter in the morning, and then loosen up throughout the day. Warm liquids can help loosen you up as well. Good luck!

Is it just me, or am I the only one who prefers it without milk? I love it brewed with one packet of stevia sweetener.
-
I have one of those cards, too. My surgeon gave it to me in my bandster's packet...hasn't done me a damn bit of good so far. I still have it in my wallet, but no one has ever honored it. I just order whatever I want, and take home what I don't eat, and then I have a great lunch for the next day, and sometimes the day after that!

I'm with Green on this one... No kids, so it's all about me!

Laura, if you do invent something, I want to be first on your mailing list to get it! My dh and I took our niece and nephew out of town for a weekend getaway once, and the hotel we stayed at had a free hot Breakfast....Turned out, the only thing HOT were those big Belgian waffles. I thought I'd try a couple of bites of it, and ended up spending the next 20 minutes while the kids and DH finished their breakfast trying to discreetly spit slime into my half full (lidded, thank goodness) coffee mug. Talk about gross. I threw away the mug, and it was only the 3rd or 4th time I'd ever even used it. :cry

URG! I was reading a post earlier, a newbie banded Oct. 1 was still supposed to be on mushies, and tried a piece of dry white meat chicken. I couldn't help myself. I asked her if there was any particular reason she was going against her doctor's orders, and she said no reason, I just wanted to try it. Well, you have to know it's killing me to not go back to the thread and say what's on my mind......:censored::frusty: -
LOL! Did she leave many crumbs to clean up?
-
Why are you going against your doctor's orders? Any particular reason?

Ok, I'm sitting here enjoying my very first cup of Chai tea.... I got the Tazo brand Chai tea bags, and put one packet of Stevia sweetener (no calories or carbs, and no chemicals) in it, and I have to say it's amazing! Wow, how could I have turned my nose up at it for so long??? Thanks for starting this thread, I'd have never tried it without reading how good it is here, first!
-
Another benefit to this method, is that if the person(s) bringing the goodies SEE you do it, they're a lot less likely to bring more.... :heh:

I suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
travelgirl replied to yummieT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, sweetie, you don't suck!!! YOU ROCK!!! You made the decision to get the lapband, and you DID it!! Negative self talk is going to get you nowhere. I want you to tell yourself, OUT LOUD into a mirror, at least 10 times a day.... "I ROCK, AND I AM WORTH IT!" I can eat way more than a cup of food in one sitting, depending on the food. I made a pork roast tonight, and ate probably a cup of just that, no sauce or anything, and then I had some veggies, and still felt like I could eat more if I wanted, but I was satisfied, if not stuffed. Everyone's body is different, and will need more or less food, and more or less exercise to lose weight. Hang in there, and you'll get there!!!!! Great big (((((((((cyber-hugs))))))))) to you! -
Oh...Duh! I was gonna come in here and ask, "What's Pass the Dutchie???" Never mind.....:nervous:bolt:

I agree with Chris, I think you'll need to address this issue before considering being banded, because if you don't, you're setting yourself up for failure, because, like he said, the band is a TOOL that can be manipulated very easily. I hope you do what is right for you and your health. Good luck!
