The symptoms you mentioned are all symptoms of a low blood sugar episode. I wonder if you were a little bit low?

Uhm question about what to wear tommorrow to surgery
travelgirl replied to jc2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally nekkid in a hospital gown, and I was given slipper socks to wear so my feet didn't get cold. -
I might add that I NEVER buy clothes, shoes, bedding or towels unless I can put my hands on it and/or try it on first. I'm all about how clothing feels, and that applies to bedding and towels as well. If it doesn't feel good, I won't buy it, no matter how good a deal it is.

Make sure that you report it to the police. A lot of times they'll have some a-holes on a spree of doing stupid shit like this, and if they're caught, the more charges, the better!

Why am I craving chocolate every day?!?!
travelgirl replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take the Viactiv chews, and I don't have a problem with them, but my band isn't very tight right now. But if you chew and chew and chew them, I doubt they'd give you trouble, and you'd get to enjoy them a little longer! :huggie: -

..people changing..based on 1/2 other's opinions, it isn't right!!!
travelgirl replied to bandster_1007's topic in Rants & Raves
OK, I understand not wanting a stalker to latch on.... I could ask one of them, but it's just not the same... ~sigh~ I guess I shouldn't be so disappointed, I haven't posted any pics yet, either, I'm just not ready, although I DO have some pretty awful before pics. And on a side note, I lost my dad to cancer this summer...actually the chemo had given him a lot of nasty bleeding ulcers that went untreated for whatever reason, and in the span of 24 hours, he died an awful death that we were all there for. I don't think I looked very pretty that day, either, and if someone had decided that they wanted pictures, I might have commenced to beating the living s*** out of them. THIS IS NOT THE TIME. OK, BACK TO TOPIC!! :huggie: -

Totally off topic, and I promise not to turn this in to a thread-hijack.... WASA, are you EVER going to post your before/after pics? Maybe after your PS? -

I have no idea why some docs charge more for the same service. I chose Dr. Steward because my insurance (United Health Care) pays 100% for this surgery, as long as the surgeon is in my network. The surgeons at Tallgrass were all in my network, and I've heard great things about them all. I went with him because he was the first available surgeon at the time. They do require that you attend one of their seminars before they'll even give you the paperwork to fill out to get started. The reason for this is that they want their patients to be well informed of their decision prior to surgery. This makes for the most successful long term outcomes. Their informational seminars are held on the second Saturday of every month at the St. Francis Health Center in Topeka from 10:00am to noon. The seminars are open to anyone researching weight loss surgery. There is no charge to attend, and this is the first step required to enter the Tallgrass Bariatric Program. There is no pre-registration, and no one will be allowed in the room after the seminar begins, so get there early if you go. If you'd like more info about Tallgrass, I can PM you the phone numbers to call to find out about their program, and get the ball rolling. Outside of going outside of Kansas, Tallgrass is the closest bariatric center that performs lapband. I have never heard of one in Wichita, or Hays, which would be the next most likely candidates, I would think. One more thing, the staff at Tallgrass is first rate. They really took wonderful care of me the day of surgery and called the next day to check on me. They were really top notch. They even made sure that my hubby was at ease, and comfortable with the surgery, and they checked on him several times during my surgery to make sure he didn't need anything, and to let him know everything was going well. -
Buy or borrow a recliner before surgery
travelgirl replied to Totallytater's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I slept in a recliner for the first 4 or 5 nights after surgery. It was a lifesaver! -
Stress definitely can cause your band to be tighter, and our bodies are always producing mucus, and saliva, which is swallowed all the time. That sounds to me like exactly what happened, and if there was any remnant of the cheese left, it just exacerbated the problem. I'm so sorry you had to experience this, and sorry that you got so upset, I hope everything is better now. Try drinking some hot tea or other warm beverage, that will help thin the mucus, and soothe your stomach. Hang in there!

Hi, Steve! I'm from North Central KS, and I was banded in Topeka. Their cash price for banding is $12,000. The best way to get the ball rolling with anything is to go to a seminar, (most bariatric surgeons have these either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly), and they'll tell you everything you need to know to get started. As far as I know BCBS of Kansas does not cover it, and they have no plans to change their minds. Now, the BCBS companies that you're reading about that do cover it are other state's or the federal policies. If you have the Kansas policy, though, you're barking up the wrong tree trying to get them to cover it. The biggest thing though, is to not jump in with both feet until you've educated yourself about the process, and how your life will change afterwards. This is not something you decide to do and then just go do it. Some people do that and then they have no idea what they've gotten themselves into, and education is KEY to a successful bandster. Good luck! Welcome to LBT! -
I LOVE AMAZON! I have done 95% of my Christmas shopping there this year. They almost always have the best price, and it's reliable. I shop amazon.com all year long, and I keep a perpetual wish list on there, as well as gift ideas for the people in my life. It sends me reminders 3 weeks prior to their special days, birthdays, anniversaries, etc, and I add things as I find them to their gift idea lists, so when I get the reminder for someone's birthday, I already know what to get them. It's AWESOME!!! They have by far one of the best websites out there for online shopping.

Support forum for the positive aspect of banding only
travelgirl replied to rebandit's topic in Rants & Raves
I was a lurker here for about a year before I became a member, and was a member for a few months prior to getting my band. I agree with Laurend 100%. I don't think there's a complication (or perceived complication) that hasn't been posted here, sometimes numerous times by numerous people. Keep reading, it's not all roses here, but we do try to be encouraging to each other, hence calling it a "SUPPORT" forum. -
Batten down the hatches, people! I don't know where everybody is from, but if you're in the Heartland, we're supposed to be getting up to 2 inches of ICE (not snow!) this afternoon/tonight/tomorrow. This means power outages, impossible road conditions, and complete misery if you have to go anywhere. I have a 30 mile commute to work, so I've already told them that I'll probably have the flu or something tomorrow. Anyone else out there getting ready for this crap?:tired

Here's the latest: We only had power yesterday for about 2 hours, and then lost it again. They're saying this morning that it will be at LEAST several hours before they get the power back on. Our whole county is without power right now. There's a main power line down somewhere, and they aren't sure where it is just yet, and they're talking about hiring a helicpoter to fly around to see if they can locate it quicker. Good thing the storm is over, or it would be even longer. I'm at work today (which happens to be 30 miles away, so I'm warm, I have HOT coffee, and I get to sit at a computer that works all day. Don't know what I'll be going home to....probably a cold house and candles for light again.

We got 2" of ice last night, and it's still spitting, but I think it might be coming to an end. We have one tree that decided to shed ALL it's limbs onto our roof. I don't think there's much damage, but it's too early to know for sure yet. We've been without power all day, and JUST got it back on. Bless those Westar Energy guys that have been working so hard to get it back on! If I feel really ambitious later and we still have power, I'll try to post some storm pics that I took earlier. Ice SUCKS but it sure is pretty!

Hey, Tamala! You ROCK! (Kim here from Kansas) We're having an ice storm here, so I get to stay home tomorrow and get in a good calorie burn instead of being tied to my desk! I just hope that we don't lose power. We're supposed to be getting up to 2 inches of ice tonight and tomorrow.

We don't have a fireplace, so no, we don't snuggle up in front of the fireplace with mugs of hot cocoa.... But we have been known to snuggle up on the couch with a blanket (or 2, depending on how cold it is) and have some candles lit....... Not very romantic, because there's generally no music, because you don't want to drain the batteries in the portable radios. So, I guess it's pretty boring compared to what you see in the movies and on tv, we usually sit and play cards in a couple of layers of sweats and our stocking hats, LOL!

I've looked at generators several times since the last bad one 2 years ago, but I haven't bought one yet. I'm hoping I don't regret that...

It's 27 degrees here, and it's supposed to start the freezing drizzle any time. Lucky us.
