    Couch to 5K

Here's the link that someone else found and posted on another thread, the couch to 5k put to music, with spoken instructions when to run, and when to resume walking. MP3 Podcasts I haven't started yet, but I'm going to start either this weekend or next week. I already downloaded the podcasts so all I have to do is plug in my earbuds, and hop on my treadmill! Anyone mind if I join this thread for the boost I'm sure I'll need???

Letters you wish you could send.....

To my stepmother, Now that my dad is dead, I'm done with you. I'm done with your drunk, sorry ass. You made my life a living hell from the time you walked into my life, and destroyed the relationship I had with my dad. I was never able to get that back, no matter how hard I tried as an adult. You were always in the way. I felt like you were always competing with me for dad's attention. If I called to talk to dad, you always had to be on another extention listening in and interrupting whenever you could. You bitch. I don't have anything of dad's and I'm sure you'll never give me anything of his, no matter how many times you tell me you will. I've resigned myself to that, and I'm fine with it, as long as you stay the hell out of my life. Don't call me, don't e-mail me, certainly don't expect a call or card for your birthday, and no, we won't be there for the holidays with you. You have your own family, move closer to them, and let them deal with your bullshit. Most sincerely, Your dead husband's daughter

Nope, I have type 2 diabetes, as well.

    Oatmeal Question

I actually overcook my oatmeal, so it's very sticky. Stays with me longer, and fills me up fast that way. I do make sure that I take small bites, and mush it up in my mouth before I swallow it, and take my time.

    waking up after surgery

I woke up SO groggy, and HOT. They had one of those warming air blanket things, called a bear hug or some dang thing, and it felt like it took me 5 minutes to say "hot". They took that off, and I snoozed for a little longer, then woke up again, not really in pain, no tubes or anything anywhere except for my IV. The longer I was awake, though, the more pain I felt. It never got awful, though, pain of about a 5 on a 1-10 scale. Mostly, I felt like I had a huge balloon in my sternum and belly area. I was resting comfortably in a hotel by 3:00 PM on the day of surgery, and my surgery was at 9:00 AM.

    Dizzy, weak, a little scared.

You posted another thread that said you're currently only drinking water, and nothing else. I get sweaty, weak, shaky, and dizzy when my blood sugar is low. PLEASE call your doctor and find out what you should be eating or drinking, and find out for sure if you're running a fever. A very low grade fever is ok, even normal, but if you're running a higher fever, you need to alert your doctor as soon as possible.
  9. Call your doctor right now. You should not have been sent home without post-op diet instructions. Shame on your surgeon!

    bodybugg chat

I enjoyed my coaching sessions, and learned a LOT about all the features on the website that I don't think I'd have found without my coach. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to do the coaching sessions, but I do think that it's beneficial to you so you can make the most of your bodybugg experience.

    Anybody got a Garmin?

I got a Garmin Nuvi 200 for Christmas, and I LOVE IT! Anyone else have one?

    bodybugg chat

I wish. I really don't like their food database. There are only around 30,000 foods in there. Seems like nothing I eat is in there. I use myplate or calorie king to get the nutritional info, and then build in my new food. Gets old, though.

    Drinking before meals

I know it's getting a bit redundant, but I'll throw my 2 cents in too. My doc wants me to drink a tall glass of a non caloric beverage right before I eat, to aid in helping me feel full, and for good hydration. And then wait until 30 minutes after a meal to resume drinking.

Haven't named it yet, but that's a great idea!

    Anybody got a Garmin?

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Now, I can go places and not worry about whether those stupid online maps are going to get me lost. I HATE that. Print a map, and it's clear as mud. Garmin won't even let you get lost. LOVE IT!

I throw up *multiple* times every day...

Please tell your surgeon about this. You are putting yourself at risk of a slip by allowing this to happen this often. You need to either have an unfill, or you need to be re-educated on what to eat, and how to eat it. Maybe both. Please, please don't wait to talk with your surgeon about this!

Maybe Coach Tamala can clear this up. Did they tell you that your missed appointment counted as one session? That just doesn't seem right.

    My band hurts...HELP

I agree with the stress, TOM, and mornings causing it to be tighter, and I will add to that: Since you got stuck on something in the morning, you probably had some swelling that caused you problems the rest of the day. Most people will tell you to stay with liquids or mushies for 24 hours after an episode just to let your stomach settle back down.

    Hoppin' Johns Recipes

I thought it sounded good, and just LOOK at all the protein and fiber! Of course, those are NORMO portions, but even so, this recipe puts up some pretty impressive numbers, I'm going to try it for sure.

Jack, your post makes me think of the movie "Failure To Launch" where Terry Bradshaw plays the main character's dad, and he has a "Naked Room". :bandit Cracked me up!

    Rash????

Is the rash in a place where you have a skin fold? I had this before, and it was the same as what Alyson said, a yeast infection of the skin, and it was treated with miconazole nitrate. It also helps if you can keep it as dry as possible.
  24. Gas X strips are wonderful, BUT, the gas from surgery is not in your digestive tract so it's not going to help you one bit with that. WALK, WALK, WALK.....some people find that if you get on your hands and knees with your rear end up in the air, it relieves the pressure in your shoulder from it, but it will still take time and movement to get rid of it.
