Same here, he kept pushing harder to the side, like that's going to help. The thing is, he's a PA, and he's done ALL of my fills, and this is the first time that he hasn't hit it on the first try, so I was just teasing him when I said no digging. And it does feel very much like I've been kicked in the stomach.

i am staying on plan today because ...
travelgirl replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am staying on plan today because I had a fill on Friday, and it SUCKED. I don't want to have to have another one anytime in the near future, so I'm going to try extra hard to stay away from the evil easy foods, and stick with my hard proteins! -
Is it possible to have 'sweet spot' without full restriction?
travelgirl replied to new_me_2008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, the sweet spot is not being restricted to where you can't eat very much, your sweet spot is where you're losing 1-2 lbs a week, you're satisfied with the amount of food you can eat, and you're not throwing up (or pb'ing) on a regular basis. Enjoy it! AND know that many people's sweet spot can change as your journey progresses. You might find that sometime in the future, you're hungry all the time, and you stop losing weight. Then it's time for a fill, to find your new sweet spot. Hope this helps! You're doing great! -
I ran yesterday! I took some Tylenol, and pushed through the pain. Since I didn't do very much last week, I'm repeating week 1 this week.

I told him beforehand "NO DIGGING!" And he numbed me up first, and then dug around in there anyway. FINALLY after about 5 minutes of misery, he withdrew and stuck me again. Hit it right away on the second try. If he'd just done that to begin with, I'd be fine. It's really swollen today, right around the injection spot, and very tender to the touch. I really wanted to get back into the swing of things, especially with a fill! I need a jump start on my weight loss. How is everyone else coming on their own couch to 5k programs? Maybe the swelling and pain will go down enough that I can hit it tomorrow. I will try the ice today, and see if that helps.

OWWWWEEEEE!!! I had a fill today, and my port area is super sore, to the point that I can't walk without pain. Every little movement that causes my big tummy to jiggle causes awful pain. The doc missed on the first try, and dug around in there with the freaking needle, and finally had to take it out and stick me again. In between sticks, I made the mistake of looking over at him, and I looked at the needle, which usually doesn't freak me out, but this time, I thought the needle looked very similar to a coffee stirrer, and I thought I might pass out. Not a good experience, but I got my fill. Anyway, all that to say, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this awful bruising and pain to go away more quickly so I can get back to my Couch to 5K program? No way I'm getting on the treadmill like this.

Julie, off topic, sort of, are you still wearing your bodybugg? I was curious about what your calorie burn is like while your body is healing. Sorry, everybody, this is not an attempt at hijacking the thread!!! I'm just SO curious about this. -

OK! So I sucked it up and was a big girl, and called for a fill appointment. As luck would have it, they had a cancellation and can do it tomorrow at 3:30! Here we go, folks! Maybe I can get the scale to start going in the right direction again! -
More Complications, I can't get any good news to you guys

Liquid Benadryl. It sounds like an allergic reaction to me. -

I am staying on plan today because the scale has been going in the wrong direction for awhile, and I'm working up the nerve to call for a fill. I'm not ready for the lecture yet. -
Meh. I'm going to have to convince myself somehow to get up in the morning and do this, instead of going by my plan to do it in the evenings. So far EVERY evening this week, something has come up to keep me from doing this. I'm SO not a morning person, so this is one of my biggest challenges, and one of the reasons I'm not farther along in my journey. I can't seem to stay motivated to exercise, and I have an awful time making myself get up in the morning to do it.

I use the lithium batteries in mine, and I only have to change the battery once every 2-3 weeks, depending on how often I upload info, and synch it with the digital display. Worth the extra money to me.

Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
travelgirl replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That reminds me of my hubby! There was a time not too far in the past when my DH would say that he weighed 250, just because that's the last weight he saw on the scales the last time he weighed himself. Never mind that it was 15 years and 85 lbs ago! When he finally weighed himself he was SO shocked to see that he was up to 335, and then proceeded to go right on up to 350. Since then, he's back down to around 300. -

I write my weight down on a calendar hanging in the bathroom every morning. It helps me to see trends, and it helps me to feel like I'm being accountable. It's not there for his information, only for mine, but he knows that's what it is. Now someone who comes to my house and goes into the bathroom and sees the calendar may or may not be able to figure out what those numbers are, but frankly, it's JUST a number, so who cares, anyway? -
FRUSTRATED on liquids, HUGE VENT, when will I lose? aaahhhhhhh
travelgirl replied to Done's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. Nice vent! Feel better? I know sometimes it helps just to get it out there. -
There's a product called Nu-Salt, that's sodium free that supposedly tastes, measures, and sprinkles like salt. I've used it one time and I thought it had the oddest flavor. Sort of salt-like, but weird. My dad used it all the time, and he didn't mind it, so maybe it just depends on the person, whether you like this stuff or not.

So, once you've finished the program (for those that have finished) do you find yourself running because you like it? Or have you gone back to whatever you were doing before?
-
 I look at it this way. It doesn't really matter what we call it, as long as we're actually doing it! Because it's more than I was doing a year ago at this time. WAY more.

Crud - I swallowed a piece of gum :-(
travelgirl replied to AlysonRR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I chew gum all the time. I can't even make myself swallow gum, so I think I'll be ok. I'll take my chances. SO, how about another gumwatch update??? Still stuck? -
Well, I CALLED it running, but it's more of a slogging jog... How pathetic that if we were to go "walking" together, you'd be briskly walking along, and I'd be jogging to keep up! LOL!
-
Ok, when I did my first run, I started out walking at 2.8, and then running at 4.3, by the end of my session, I was only running 4.0 and walking at 2.7. I was totally wiped out afterwards, too. I don't think I've ever pushed myself that hard. I hope it gets easier!:nervous
