    This is hard

Milk is a good (not great) source of Protein. unjury has a chicken Soup flavored Protein powder, which I have a sample of, but have been as yet afraid to try. If you're still on the full liquids phase, you could blenderize some cottage cheese with a little milk to thin it down. Cottage cheese is a great source of protein. Personally, I don't like ANY of the sweetened protein powders or shakes. None of them taste good to me, and they all seem to give me the trots. Always keep in mind that this phase of the post op diet is NOT for weight loss, it's for healing, so try not to worry too much about your calorie intake right now.

    American Idol '08

Oh, puke. I fast forwarded through Blake's performance. Never did like him. Sanjaya never deserved to be there in the first place. There were a few good ones last year, but not too many great ones, and I think this year there are several that are worthy of winning.
  5. Well, people, we're coming up very quickly on our Bandiversaries. So, who wants to share with everyone what this past year has been like for you? I'll do mine later this evening...

    New here, questions

I just read another post by you about not having any urge to urinate. This has me wondering if that is related to this? I wish I had some sage advice, but I have no idea what's going on here. Definitely don't let your doctor blow you off. Keep after them until they figure out what IS wrong. Keep us posted!

Yep, LOVE the non-stick foil. To answer whether this reheats well, YES! I thought it was even better the second time around!

    Baked Spaghetti Fake Out

To save even more calories, I didn't use any oil when I baked it. Just a bit of salt and pepper, and I used the Reynolds Non-stick aluminum foil. That stuff is GREAT.

    Baked Spaghetti Fake Out

I only wish it was drier. It got pretty soggy in the baking dish. That could be remedied, though by putting it in a hot skillet and cooking some of the juice out before mixing it with the sauce. I'll try that next time. LOVED IT. Plus, I didn't have the problem of getting stuck with it like I sometimes do with spaghetti noodles. AND it's healthier this way than with the noodles, so it's better all around!

I did notice, and I wondered if he had the flu or something. No one seems to be able to escape that crap this year.

If you eat 3 ladybugs and get stuck, a great way to induce a pb is to drink some carbonated pop! Brings it right back up! (did i just go there?)

I hate it when people post just to post.....

It was wonderfully uneventful! LOL! No, really, it was great! We bought ourselves a beautiful 40" flatscreen LCD TV, and watched a couple of blu-ray movies on the PS3 we bought to go with it. Really, though, can someone walk me through how to get a tickler on this site? I can't figure out what everyone is talking about...

    Help! Thick liquid stage...

If you can have cottage cheese, it's wonderful mixed with salsa. Maybe mix it up and then whiz it up so it's creamy instead of chunky. Spice up some tomato soup! Personally, I lived on Campbell's soup at hand soups. If there were chunks in it, I whizzed it up with my stick blender.

What I thought was rude was when Simon told that blonde (horrible with names) that she has no personality, and then when she said that she didn't know what that means, he refused to explain himself. I mean, come on, I know what he means, hell, I can't remember her name or what she sang, EVER, but that was pretty rude to give what he calls "constructive criticism" and then blow her off when she said she didn't understand. That kind of shit makes me want to punch him in the face.
  22. My cousin had an overactive thyroid, and she would faint at the drop of a hat. She'd be sitting, walking, DRIVING, whatever, and just faint away! This was one of MANY symptoms she had, but this one was scariest, because she had no warning whatsoever. Your doctor is doing the right thing by trying to keep your thyroid levels within a normal range. Go with it, and keep doing what you're doing! If you're convinced he is wrong, by all means, go get a second opinion, but it sounds to me like he's doing what's best for you.

    Pedometer

Maybe this will help. I found this article at 3 fat chicks dot com. A pedometer is not necessary for a walking program, but it helps track progress and provide goals. There are many types of pedometers available, with prices ranging from a couple of bucks up to $100 or more. Do you need all of the bells and whistles to justify an expensive purchase? Will a cheap pedometer work just as well? How accurate are the different models? We take a look at the features you can expect to find, and sort out the helpful from the frivolous. What can you expect to find? FM Radios, heart rate monitors, panic alarms, calorie counters, and more. You can even buy a talking pedometer, in case you can't trust your eyesight. Which features are necessary? A bare bones pedometer will provide a step counter. This is all you need to get started. You can also choose a model that converts steps to distance. Anything else is optional. If you walk in remote areas, you may want to choose a model with a panic alarm, or purchase this security device separately. You should expect to spend between $20 and $35 for a good quality pedometer. How accurate are they? Accuracy can vary depending on a lot of factors. Some models are better designed than others. If you wear the pedometer incorrectly, it will be less accurate. The length of your stride can affect accuracy of distance, as your stride may vary from 2 feet to 2 1/2 feet. A good pedometer will let you program the length of your stride, for better accuracy. The average person covers 1 mile over 2,000 steps. How hard and fast you walk can also impact the accuracy of your pedometer. According to David Bassett, a professor of health and exercise science at the University of Tennessee, pedometers work best "for people who walk faster and strike the ground harder. At 2 mph, accuracy is about 85 percent, and at 1 mph it may be less than 50 percent. But all are very good at 3 mph or more." To test your pedometer, wear it while walking 100 steps. Attach it to your belt, either to the side or in front, or clip onto the center of your bra. Your pedometer should be at least 85% accurate, logging between 85 and 115 steps. If not, you should move it to another part of your body and test again, until you determine where is the best place to wear it. Which is the best pedometer on the market? According to Consumer Reports, October 2004 issue, the highest rated pedometer is the Omron Digital Premium Pedometer HJ-112, with a retail price of $35. This model was the only one they tested that ranked "excellent" in the overall category. The runner up was the Freestyle Tracer, which was rated a Best Buy, at only $20. Both models earned a rank of "excellent" in accuracy and ease of use. The Freestyle Tracer is available online at a variety of sports specialty stores.

    I miss my wine!!

I don't have children, and my DH doesn't act like the food police. But that could be because I told him that this is MY journey, and I don't need or want him to be my food police, I'm a big girl, and I'm well aware of what I'm putting into my body. Not that he ever acted in a manner that made me think he needed to hear this, but I just wanted him to know up front how I felt about it, and he's respected that. Sounds like your dh might benefit from hearing it as well. Maybe he just doesn't realize that what he's doing makes you feel like you're five years old and being chastised by a parent instead of an adult being supported by her husband. And as far as the wine goes, just make sure to count the calories, and don't overdo it! There are lots of bandsters who have wine regularly, with no problems.
