Had first PB this weekend...in public too!

Yaak Attack. I love it! Not the actual attack, but the term...
  2. If it happens again, be sure to check your blood sugar to see if you're low. I'm betting that's what it was. When it happens to me it's comes on very fast, so I usually suck on a couple of pieces of hard candy (just enough to get my sugar level coming back up) and then try to find some protein to eat in a hurry. That keeps it from crashing again. String cheese is great for this, or peanut butter, but I find that there is too much sugar in peanut butter, and not enough protein to keep my sugar level stable. Cottage cheese is another good one for this.
  3. Sounds like your blood sugar bottomed out. I get dizzy, shaky, light-headed, sweaty, and just all-around YUCKY when my blood sugar takes a dive, and it can happen soon after a workout. Are you diabetic by any chance?
  4. Hi, Kat! This is a strange new feature I've just found, and thought I'd try it out on you! :P

    Infected?

Hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't look red to me, is it warm to the touch? The oozing could be Fluid from a seroma, which isn't dangerous, but your doctor will know best. Get it checked out by your regular doc even if your surgeon doesn't think he/she needs to see it. Infection is too dangerous to be overlooked. Keep us posted!

    29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day

Walk when you start watching, set a timer for 30 minutes, then watch the rest of the show while doing some slow easy stretching? I always feel good after stretching, but I don't know how much of that you should be doing, if you're healed up enough to do that yet. But it's a thought!

    29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day

I'm gonna take a stab and say, maybe it's the hour on the treadmill you did a couple days ago? It's hard starting back up, and you did over an HOUR!! That's a lot to be jumping right back into, even if it was nice and slow.
  9. Curves would be a great place to start. Give it a shot! It's only 30 minutes out of your day, and it would be a good way to get into the habit of exercising regularly. It is a bit pricey, but they usually run specials for new members. Give them a call and see what they have going on! Good luck!

    Aspects of Blindness

This is fascinating. I mean, I know that it's a disability, or handicap, but a friend of mine who is handicapped calls herself handi-capable and I like that very much. She doesn't let her disability keep her from doing whatever she bloody well pleases, and it sounds like you're just like that, too. I have several questions that I'd love to ask, but I'll start with just one, which has a couple of parts to it. In your dreams, are you sighted? And if so, is everything sort of like black and white, or monochromatic (if that's the right word)? Or do you dream in the other 4 senses, much like life? I think it's wonderful that you're willing to share your life experience with us non-special people. Thank you!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Suzanne, you look so beautiful! You have done SO well! I wish I could say the same. I had a setback in May when my dad died. I was at 224 when that happened. I used that as an excuse for a few months to eat whatever I wanted, and instead of eating only when I was hungry, I pretty much grazed all day. This caused me to gain back up to 238 before I decided I needed to get a handle on this. Renewed my efforts, and will be going along great for a few days, and then I flop again. Those bad habits of a lifetime just keep creeping back up on me. So essentially, I've been stalled since the end of May. The good news, though, is that I AM still down 55 lbs, and the lap-band has done that for me! And I know that I can "start over" whenever I'm ready. I don't feel like a failure, even though I've had people speculate behind my back that my surgery has failed, and here's why I don't feel like a failure: I did this for my health as much as my weight. I HAVE lost 55 lbs, which is significant, and KEPT IT OFF, with a little extra effort here and there. I also have managed to keep my diabetes completely under control WITHOUT meds, my cholesterol is better and better, also WITHOUT MEDS, and my blood pressure is no longer high, and once again, NO MEDS! To me, that is the definition of success. Besides, I didn't gain all that weight overnight, so why on earth shouldn't I think of this as a lifetime journey? Don't get me wrong, I'm anxious to get down to onederland, and then to my goal weight, but I'm not going to beat myself up that I'm not there already. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I have a theory about RNY....they lose weight very quickly, and then over time gain it all back with interest. I know this is a blanket statement, and is not necessarily true in some cases, but it's my theory, and it rings true with me, anyway. OK, there's mine, NEXT!!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Welcome, Katherine! You just made me literally LOL. Don't take this thread too seriously, but it is a good place to vent your feelings about things without being flamed for it. Well, maybe singed a little....

:grouphug: No one wanted help me with my tickler. I finally had to ask DH to help me. At least HE still loves me! Refried beans give me gas.
  16. This is my FAVE easy recipe. If I'm in a hurry, and know that I won't have time to cook dinner, I'll just grab a bag of frozen chicken breast, dump it in the crock pot, dump the ro-tel tomatoes over it, cook it all day, and VOILA! DINNER! The rice cooks fast while I'm shredding the chicken, and it's SO good.

    Hi from Kansas

Hello and Welcome! I'm from north central Kansas myself. I was banded in Topeka, and had a great experience. You're right about the head hunger. I think (only my opinion) that's what keeps some of us from reaching our goals. I know it's my weakness. I am working on that every day. Anyway, I saw your post and wanted to welcome you to LBT!

You can go to itunes and download the videos. I would highly recommend checking out the Chickezee song! They're probably on youtube now, too.

You missed Chickezee! OMG he ROCKED THE HOUSE as Randy would say. What an awesome performance from him! I was wondering when they'd finally send him home, and I've changed my mind about him now. He totally deserves to be here. And if little David doesn't pull it together next week, he'll be going home, I'm afraid. He said that he was intimidated by the Lennon/McCartney songbook, and that floored me. He already did Lennon's BIGGEST song EVER! What's to be intimidated by??? I didn't get that at all. Besides that, though, I thought everyone did a great job last night except maybe the country girl. That just wasn't a good fit, it jangled my nerves.

OK, I remember seeing previews for it now, but never did see any episodes. Makes me want to watch it now...
