Will I Ever Make It?
lotsabirds replied to Cathy S.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I often quote that Dear Abby column too. I've always remembered it and it was so right on! I had my band May 21st and I'm 65. I thought maybe I'm so old to do this and I thought of that column and went ahead and did it. -

lotsabirds replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, just got back from Costco and forgot to look for naked nuggets. What the heck are they and where. I usually go to the Beardsly one but arrowhead too. -

lotsabirds replied to dflprdfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded at Tempe Surgical Center and I was very happy with them. My Dr. are at True Results in Scottsdale and I'm happy with them. The PA there does my fills and she is great. You can email me at lotsabirdsaz@msn.com if you like. Good luck. Sherry -

lotsabirds replied to dedumplinz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience at Tempe surgical Center was GREAT. The people were very nice. I was even taken in before my time and was on my way home 4 hours later. Hope yours goes as well. -
Hi Oco, I too am in Arizona, north of phoenix. I was banded May 21st. Just had my 2nd fill last Thurs. Do you have to go to Mex for your fills? Keep up the goodwork. I couldn't figure out which button to click for pm.

Does anyone get the LB removed just because they don't like it?
lotsabirds replied to angelface's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Interesting comments. Being a self pay I can't imagine having it removed when I had to pay so much to get it, unless it was really harming my health. I guess everyone must do what they feel is best so good luck and think carefully before you do or before you don't. -

Lapband Friendly Restaurants
lotsabirds replied to FarmGirl7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mrs. Mink: You'll get the card when you go in for your first fill. You probably had yours done where I did and that's when I got mine. I've never used it yet, I just take mine home. -

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?
lotsabirds replied to lotsabirds's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't know if it's Bandster Hell but I am hungry. Last night I ate like before surgery and I've had my first fill a week ago. Have my 2nd fill July 9. At this point I have 3ccs and not much restriction.:bored: -
WOW, That is really sad that you met with such hostilities. I myself have been involved with WW since 1963. I am a $2.00 life time member. I lost and regained my weight 5 times with ww and more times trying other methods and programs. I worked in managment for ww in 3 different states. It's a great eating plan and I applaud everyone who has kept off their weight. I knew that if I did the same thing I'd always done, I'd always get the same results. Therefore, I chose to get the band and nip this in the bud before I went back up to my old weight, yet again! I was banded May 21st with a bmi of 31. Hopefully, this time when I get back to where I want to be, I'll stay there. My skin has streched back and forth so many times I feel like gumby! I'll never be tight and sexy but I'll sure be healthier, happier and look better.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
lotsabirds replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 65 and was banded in May. I too thought I was too old but that thought passed! I healed up quickly and had no problems other than the gas pains in my shoulder. That too passed! If that Dr. had an age limit find another one. Good luck. -
Was anyone banded at a weight of 200lbs or less?
lotsabirds replied to 31andnew's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded May 21st. I had my first fill today. I m 65 and have either been losing weight or gaining weight for the past 50 years. I can honestly say that I have lost and gained 500 lbs during that 50 years. When I was banded my bmi was just over 30 and I was on my way back to the 200 mark yet again. If you continue to do the same thing you've always done you're always going to get the same results. I felt this was my last step to succeed in this battle. My weight has always been the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I thought about at night. This is it for me and To have someone say "why did you have that stupid lapband, just stop eating, you aren't that big" sets me off!!! In the past 6 mo I developed high BP, high Colesterol and Dr. said I would be a risk for diabeetes in short time. I did it and I'm glad. Self pay is hard but I figure I bought an extra few years for that money. -

8 days post op and excrusiating pain
lotsabirds replied to monica28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought that was my post for a minute. I had that awful pain in my left shoulder but it didn't show up until day 6. Heating pad worked the best for me. Did you have hernia surgery with it? I was told that was why mine was so bad.Trust us, it will go away.
