Marine mom replied to Banded4Life's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Having the surgery in 3 weeks. I lost with the band when it was tight but there was only a wee but of difference between too tight and loose. It was a mess. :/. Hoping for the best. -

Preparing for the criticism
Marine mom replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 100 lbs with my lapband over the last four years so I've heard a lot. Frankly few have been snarky and those have left me be after telling them that I'm happy with my choice. So while it is good to be prepared try not to go in crazy paranoid and on alert:) The vast majority have been supportive and interested and know someone who is contemplating. I think I've talked to at least 100 of those people when I've given my card and said "have them call or email if they want to talk about it." -

Oh my goodness. Thank you for the picture. I had no clue visually. Will try not to panic. -
Thanks all. Hmmmm I hate to wait. Lol and it is a cruel truth re caffeine and coffee. I love all teas including herbals so that will help.

I figure worst case scenario I could have one of my sons stay with me. And watch them eat the incredible yummiest all day
-
Well dang! That was my coffee plan!!

I know that everyone is different but am wondering how long until you felt like yourself. Trying to schedule my surgery (band removal and sleeve) and am wondering if I should schedule it 2 weeks before a craft show or wait until after. My boys will do all my lifting. Also I can't remember why I can't have coffee. I will follow the directions but would like to remember the rationale.

I kind of agree with gorilla guy. I be pissed if my husband aired his irritations with me to a bunch of strangers. And while you may be fine putting 2 1/2 year il twins to bed he probably has other skills. No reason you can't put together a kitty tower. :/. No one needs a game player to exercise...I guess that I just don't see how you expect strangers to help. So what if he doesn't exercise. That is his business... Why not take the whole crew in walks, or chasing fun games. Why not encourage him rather than tear him down to people? If a guy was in here ragging on his wife would the answers be the same?

If you are going to wait until the band is perfect to start learning good habits, you may be sol. I went a year and a half. I could have just wasted the time, or i could work at making good habits even though it is hard. So, you had a bit of chinese. You can still have chinese, but change what you order. I have egg drop Soup most weeks, sometimes a bit of beef and brocolli. The band isn't the end of all that is good. I also have never had that happy full feeling. I feel sick and uncomfortable if i am not really careful not to overeat. Behavior mod at its best, lol.

I am so sorry for the relationship issues. That said, I'm glad you found some positive in the 12 step mtg. I have found them to be a blessing. Take care.

MY FIRST FILL WAS A NIGHTMARE

Fear makes pain worse. If all else fails see if your gp will give you a script for valium if you have transport. Not the best solution, but sometimes doctors just don't get it. ps, two of mine hurt like hell, 3 didn't. so it isn't a given that the next will hurt. -
if they are concerned, maybe it is something to look at. Exchanging addictions isn't the best thing either. do you have hobbies, friendships, eat healthy, not just minimal? I'm glad you are feeling better, and don't mean to be negative at all!

It is what it is. The surgery does have risks. A friend just had his removed and was given a gastric sleeve. My doctor moved and it took me a year to find a doctor to do fills. I just got my magazine and had just read the article. It wasn't in the least offendensive. I knew the risks and had done my research before my surgery. I knew that many are removed within the first three years. I was scared and anyone looking at a surgery should be. I also have been to a dozen informational sessions and they all are dog and pony shows. It is an easy money maker. That doesn't make it bad. It is just the fact. It gets ridiculous when it is suggested that the vomiting had to be self induced...because people don't get sick and vomit irl. My friend's stomach was pushed up through his band when he had the flu. Good grief. I'm always amazed when people can't stand there being a second side to something...they must be lying or have an agenda...
