FREAKIN OUT!! Need encouragement...
Marine mom replied to Journey482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well said. I can't imagine popping diet pills on the band. I guess that sometimes one just has to be hungry, in my book. Life is like that. We can't always have what we want when we want it. Not even immediate cessation of hunger. -
Let's talk about 'snacking'
Marine mom replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc likes snacks. Especially apples or raw veggies. I can't do dairy. I also will eat a serving of almonds most days. He is all about people learning to eat like not overweight people. Small servings of regular food, healthy snacks and I am good. I don't worry about the half hour thing. I don't have tight restricition. -
Thanks. Went shopping, bought 2 pairs pants, 3 tops. They will last until next change.

Interesting movie. Several good books on the problem, too. -

low sodium boillion sucks. Retaining a little water never killed anyone. the op just needs to realize that is the case and potential cause. The water will go away later. -

I wouldn't ditch the boillon. It helps you. Just keep in mind that it affects the day to day retention. -
Maybe it is a difference of choice. We went out last night, too, and I ordered a small chicken and brocolli without the rice and ate about 2/3 of a cup. That made it about 220 calories, as opposed to the approximate 500 calories for the sweet and sour chicken. I don't have much restriction at all. I figure that I would rather the options be more available (like a small whole wheat bagel for 100 calories with an egg for breakfast). I have to keep my calories below 1000 to lose due to the thyroid issues contributing to a slow metabolism.

Awesome advice! I am a firm believer that staying busy with good stuff, helps. I knit, walk, play a game with my kids and keep a book and puzzle going at all times. It helped a lot. I also journal, plan meals, and watch every bite that goes in. But remember that Water, etc., fluctuates a lot, so don't get down by day to day weight gains.

How often do you weigh yourself
Marine mom replied to Heart's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love weighing everyday. It either is a thrill or a reminder. And I am ok with that. -
Changing Portion Size Perception
Marine mom replied to gnortenjones's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No kidding! My guys are all healthy, not overweight guys, but the stuff the stuff in is amazing. They will sometimes take a bite that is 1/2 of my meal, it seems. -
I have one pair of pants that still fit. Good news, but I have got to get the time to go shopping. I am down 2 sizes since surgery.

Reactions from friends and family are getting annoying...
Marine mom replied to Aunt Suzie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You said that much better than I did. OP, I don't think being rude is a part of reclaiming power. I think that is something that is within and takes away the need for "revenge" or rudeness. When i am feeling empowered I do not care what others think, and have no need to prove it to anyone. Just my thoughts on the subject. -
how do your spouses feel about your choice?
Marine mom replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good thoughts being sent out. I was really scared going into the surgery, but it went well. Hoping the same for you. -

I think that you have to look at this in a different way. They care about you, and want the best for you. Maybe you disagree with their comments, but I disagree with others all of the time. Don't you ever have an opinion and share it with others? Have you ever commented on another person's choices? We all see things differently. That means there is no reason to get snotty because of it. -
I have not lost weight in at least 6 months! Please HELP!!
Marine mom replied to ~Bridgette~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sweet fix is one dark hershey kiss in the evening. It works well for me. I use Loseit and I agree. It keeps me from eating sometimes. Good luck! -
how do your spouses feel about your choice?
Marine mom replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:crying:If he is mean and selfish, no matter how "supportive" he is, you deserve better. Abuse is not ever ok. Not even when the abused is overweight, and feels she does not deserve better. -
i eat almonds every day. cheese makes me sick since banding.

All I know is that I cannot stand Michael or Lance. Other than that, I am not rooting for anyone in particular.

I think the main concept wasn't about working hard, but about limited time.

Stuck, did someone say STUCKED!
Marine mom replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so grateful I can still eat my veggies. And I feel so bad that you had to go through that out in the world. Poor sweet grandson!
