Scared to death.......Band slipped...Help
Marine mom replied to hdsantoni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry. Breathe in and out, and concentrate on relaxing . Hopefully the morphine is helping with that. Sending prayers through the morning, hugs and anything else positive. Good luck. I hope everything works out ok. -
Upset about Friend getting banded who hasnt even tried to lose weight
Marine mom replied to Liftingchic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No kidding. And I know very few people who work out 6 days a week at the gym. I don't go to a gym at all but that doesn't mean I don't exercise, or that I didn't before I was banded. I wish I had this surgery before I did all of the yoyoing I did. I hope things work out for her. -
Husband doesn't notice weight loss
Marine mom replied to Humming Bird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lol. My poor husband is working hard to figure out what i am comfortable with and what I am not. This comes under the "grace" clause with me. I grant it because I know that I need it, too. I am sure that I don't tell him the things that would make him feel better about himself, either. -
Don't buy a bunch of muscle milks etc., unless you know you like them. The muscle milk lite is one of the nastiest drinks I purchased. I drank them because I am cheap, lol. Some of the powders are even decent with Water. not good but decent. To those 'defending" the op, you all need to chill. No one is jumping down her throat. They are merely answering her question with their opinions. If she didn't want opinions, she shouldn't have asked. Opinions vary in life. That is what makes them opinions.

Why am I GAINING weight?
Marine mom replied to sueslostcontrol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i weigh every day. I did give up the emotional roller coaster, though. The scale motivates me a lot. -
Why am I GAINING weight?

i agree entirely. I have done the same thing a million times over. -
If someone asks if something is a bad choice, it is not harsh to say it is. As for sugar, no one needs the simple sugars in a flurry. Should we wallow in guilt when we make poor choices? Heck no, we should learn from them. As for McD's they have the best $1 side salad out there. It isn't all iceberg lettuce, and it is great with the low cal dressing. So even they have options! (Not for someone still on liquids or mushies, of course.) Five months into this journey, there is a place for moderation. I have a dark chocolate kiss every day or two.

in that case, the best choice would have been milk without the added sugar. same Protein, and not filled with sugar, or even worse, hfcs. it has nothing to do with weight loss, in my opinion, but with not justifying bad choices. Protein powder was a must always have during that stage for me. I only needed it once, but it saved me.

honestly, yes, a big no no. guilt doesn't do any good, so i would personally just chalk it up to a bad choice. those kinds of choices are what caused the problems to begin with. my opinion, of course.

Be careful with sleep aids. PM or Benedryl type stuff!
Marine mom replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At a certain point, however, you would be water/poo filled, and it would go away when you stopped taking the med. So, in theory, you should lose a massive amt of weight quickly. Take a laxative and stay away from salts and you would pee it out. I don't even retain that much when i travel. Maybe 10 lbs. total. -
i tell people. especially those who have weight to loose. i don't like making others feel like i have felt in the past. i don't feel bad or quilty for having the surgery.

I agree. I think that people forget that kids pudge out at certain ages, but that if they are eating ok and active they will be fine. I know that people were concerned when my oldest went through it, then the middle, and not having learned their lesson, now the third is going through it.

I didn't mean to sound preachy. Just thinking about relationships. I have to work to keep my focus where it needs to be, and my attitude decent. Lol, it doesn't always work! On another note, however, I an getting ready for my road trip. I had a fill last visit, but still have minimal restriction. Yikes!

I was about 15 lbs overweight when I met my husband. During my first pregnancy I gained 120 lbs., and no doctor thought to do a thyroid scan. They assumed that i was eating everything in sight. We lived on a farm with nothing but health food in sight. Follow this by 2 more pregnancies, nursing and PPD and there it was. It was another 7 years before my thyroid was diagnosed. I stopped gaining, but to lose weight I had to go down to 700ish calories. I can do that, but I need a backup for when I get tired of it all.

2 wks post-op...Why am I so tired!
Marine mom replied to Erika41910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had never had surgery before, and i was surprised at how tired i was for about a month. i didn't feel bad per se, but now i can look back and just see an exhaustion. i know it is hard to sit back and wait it out. we always have so much to do. take care of yourself, and i hope you start feeling better soon. -
Maybe they just want to be a part of a good thing. Just thinking that there is enough glory and happy to share in life. My husband is losing weight, too. Even though we ate healthy before there were still serving size issues. He is diabetic but does not have a bmi that was high enough to do the surgery. I am thrilled that he is getting healthier with me.

Donated 8 bags of too big clothes!
Marine mom replied to gwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome. I had a lot of fun doing that. I went looking for jeans in 22's today at goodwill. I hate paying much for something that will not fit for long. -
Opinions wanted! What's the best iPhone app for food journaling?
Marine mom replied to sawyer77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i think someone needs to make it a game, or offer me a reward, lol. -
well said, Sashay!

lol, not blind. I just don't see the difference between one rude remark and another. Pure and simple. I see my choice as the easy way. Sorry. I am not offended by others seeing and saying the same thing. Why would I be? I have about a 30% better chance than my sweet friend who is on the same journey without the band. Looking for excuses to be offended is the waste of time in my opinion. Putting the focus on the outside world reather than focussing on myself and my journey would be a waste of time, and counterproductive. Where that is considered rude, is also beyond me. Rude is making comments about others where they cannot defend themselves.

What is the risk of a round of golf?

I agree. It does get better. I am glad you have found some relief. -
What the heck?!?! Why do people say the things that they do?
Marine mom replied to gingerjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, my mom raised us well, too, but that doesn't mean that I have never accidently hurt someone. Must be nice knowing you have never said or done anything that made someone else feel bad! Eta: I have gained and list and gained. While I did not enjoy surgery, this has been the best for me. I have a confidence that I was never statistically allowed this time. Easy isn't an insult for me. Of course I am willing to grant grace to those who might not get it too. But the, maybe that is because I do not see myself as perfect, bit as in need of grace myself sometimes. -
