my surgery is the 28th, also. I am allowed a small fat free/carb free (basically) meal a day. Are you allowed anything?
-
I got the ok on Friday, and start preop diet today. Banding on the 28th. Yikes. I swear I woke up in a full panic this morning.:willy_nilly:

nsaids and caffeine

jeepman, I hope that works out. I'm assuming that my knees will bother me until I take off the weight. But I haven't had the opportunity to ask my doc yet. -
I'm inclined to agree with you. I think people say things without totally thinking them through. God knows I do, on occasion. I guess that I try to grant the same grace I hope others extend to me when I say something stupid. Why bother getting offended about everything?

Thanks, I should have thought of the nsaid issues. I don't know if I'd be able to give up coffee...it is my friend! -
Approved 3 monthsearlier than I expected

Yikes. I got a call yesterday with a surgery date. I didn't even know the info had been sent in, and frankly I haven't completed all of my stuff. I never met with the psychologist (hoping I won't have to) the nutritionist (will get to it shortly after, I think) etc. It really freaked me out. I am scheduled for August 31st. I am afraid of surgeries and have never had one. My dog died from the anesthesia, though. I'll start the two week diet on Monday, but am wondering which piece prepares the liver. Is it the cutting out of fats or carbs? I am thinking that tomato sandwiches on white bread is the choice for the weekend. Maybe even buy some real mayo. Pathetic, huh?? -

Thanks. I know that I am lucky. I just hadn't prepared my poor brain for it yet. It was one of those "somewhere in the future" things. Thus I have been up since midnight with a migraine reading and thinking. It was good for me. It has settled my heart on the decision. I do have to prep the kids a bit earlier than i expected. they knew it was a possibility, but my middle one is worried about it. duh...i am in my own selfish world tonight...good thoughts to you and your paperwork. hope it all works out without issue! -
how private is too private?
Marine mom replied to kitkat61's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You wouldn't be angry with him if lied to you like that? As someone stated earlier, this seems a situation where it is important to treat others the way you would want to be treated. I'd be royally pissed if my husband did that to me. -
OK, I am really confused about some things! I am just starting this process, went to seminar, will see doc. asap. Am wondering about my diet and exercise plan for the next 6 months. What if I lose enough to be under the BMI requirements? Does that mean that surgery won't be approved?

Should I be mad at my husband for looking at dirty pictures?
Marine mom replied to Carrie_C's topic in The Gals' Room
What a load of rationalization and blaming the victim. If someone says they will do something or not, then they cannot blame the other person when they choose to break the commitment. Lying is the first thing on the list about addictions. Putting his need for instant gratification over his wife's needs is selfish and immature. Telling people that they have no right to be offended by the objectification of women is denying their right to their own feelings. Their feelings are as important as their husbands/partners. That is what relationships are all about. -
diet before approval?

I could have written this. Thanks for sharing! -
I'd suggest that old people do not suck. Mean people, rude, overly opinionated become moreso as they age. sometimes people don't even wait until they are old to become stagnant in their belief system. Kind people, people who don't make random negative generalizations based on race, creed, color, gender or age, tend to remain the same, only getting better like a nice wine. OP, sorry you had to deal with crappy people. It really is a drag on the emotions, even when you do take responsibility for them.

Just starting the process. Went to the seminar, and will make the first appt. on Monday. Nervous as all get out. My husband, otoh, would love to gain 10 pounds and do it. Anyway, glad to have found you all!

It Bugs the Crap Out of Me When People do This!!
Marine mom replied to cattoy71's topic in The Lounge
My root canal last fall was one of the biggest budget busters of my life!! I work a lot with the working poor. No insurance, no qualifications for medical/dental help. They don't work any less than I did, or my husband does, and many are highly educated, but recently laid off. -
It seems like there is so much to do. It never occurred to me that I would need all of the info for the first appt. I guess it is like most things, they are easier when you get your feet wet!

I don't dig begging, but I know many good, hard working people who deserve help, but can't afford it. Bad credit happens to many people. I, myself, let my credit go when I married DH. Didn't think twice. If we were to divorce, I would be up a creek, even though I've started dealing with it. Luckily, I'm blessed with insurance and an excellent education to get me by. So many others aren't. eta: I just paid off my cards and closed them, didn't run them up, not pay, or anything like that! Basically, the concept that if you are poor and fat you don't deserve the surgery or even the right to vent about it is kind of whacked, imo. -
We make it in the food processor. We have a nice recipe that uses the cooking/can liquid, and doesn't have the oil calories.

This looks awesome! We love the hummus variations!
