Feeling hopeless and don't know what to do...
Marine mom replied to TN_girl21's topic in The Gals' Room
i would suggest that you still go to counseling. Either with him or without him. He is not stable if he has done this twice in a 5 month marriage. And you are walking a tightrope, I suspect. -
Maybe fat people are cooler
Marine mom replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with Jachut. It appears to be perfectly acceptable to rag on people re. weight on here. On another thread I am on, the op and others have found it perfectly acceptable to say rude things about someone due to their eating habits (vegetarian) and the size of their children (thin.) hypocrites. I have been fat and I have been thin. My personality is mine regardless. I enjoy food regardless. I will continue to enjoy good fun, good food, cooking, etc., when I am thin again. -
...i wanna rice krispie treat...

Regret Telling Friends ...
Marine mom replied to KimDB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sort of like feeding a child junk food? No more nutrition than the one you are criticizing. For people who don't want to be judged there are some nasty judgmental statements in this thread. I know many kids raised on such a diet. They are thin. Our perception as a nation of obese people makes them seem too thin, but they aren't. :rolleyes:We are just use to seeing fat kids. I am thrilled that I do not have friends that go on msg. boards and say mean things about me or my kids. -
Favorite Band Friendly Fast Food Go To
Marine mom replied to eriden6222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
long john silvers has tilapia that is grilled. i also eat kfc grilled chicken breast. when we were on the road, I had an egg mcmuffin minus the top muffin with the cheese. not the best of options, with the white flour, but it worked. I can't eat cheese, either. -
Brown rice, and whole wheat pasta are complex carbs. We only use whole grains.

FOOD, FOOD Everywhere, and only a drop we eat!
Marine mom replied to Chapamar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
lol, DH likes leftovers, so he takes lunch most days. We have always enjoyed cooking together. I am so happy that we don't have to give that up. -
What they said...If I have an egg and 1/2 a small whole wheat bagel it is about 130 calories, but it is filling, and I am fine for the morning. Oats tend to drop me, because I haven't found a protein that I like with them. Lunch I always have veggies with a protein, or beans. The beans aren't a full protein, but do have the protein carb combo. Good thoughts for those getting fills. I am not partial. Mine hurt after the fact.

Gaining Weight on Pureed Food!
Marine mom replied to MarilynJ6354's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it is Water. just like it is the first to lose, it is the first to come back. your purees have more salt, etc. You cannot gain weight on such small calorie intake. while it sucks, it is what it is, and next week it may be gone and then back again. but, as you lose real weight, the baseline will go down, slowly but surely. -
FOOD, FOOD Everywhere, and only a drop we eat!
Marine mom replied to Chapamar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
we have 3 boys, so i have some excuse for stockpiling, but frankly, lately, i am a bit obsessed by food. i'm not eating a bunch of it, mind you. i just like watching it, cooking it and reading about it. weird. -
i think it takes time, and information. your family understands that surgery is a risk. their concerns are valid. if they were to read all of the information about this surgery, they might see it as a bigger risk! In the end, though, i know that most of the people i have talked with whom i have shared, have been supportive, even if they didn't think it the best option.
-
4 weeks here, too. I'm not really hungry, but I am bored. and cold. and stuck on a tall hill with far too much snow. not a good place for me! are you eating plenty of protein and some complex carbs? that mixture works well for me.
-
Isn't chilli a slider food? That might explain why you felt no restriction with it. When i am stuck, i am in pain. ymmv, of course. Chicken is one of those things that I sometimes have a hard time with. if i have breast meat i will moisten it with something. we just made four different hummus versions yesterday! Personally, i salted out last pm. i hadn't had anything like snack food since banding. we had hummus and veggies and a yummy tepenade with our superbowl stuff last pm. i gained 3 lbs overnight! and, no, i didn't eat that much!

Regret Telling Friends ...
Marine mom replied to KimDB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
we all say stupid things, and choose the wrong ways to deal with people sometimes. Just like your kind of rude statements about your friends. If you care about them, talk to them about how you feel. Stop judging them, and ask them to do the same for you. NOt everyone has to agree with your choices, or think they are a good idea. What would life be if everyone thought in the same way. Surgery IS a risk, and they are merely concerned for you. Take it in the spirit it was offered if you care about them. -
there is nothing wrong with the process taking time. And, no, lying was not an option. I've got kids. Lying to doctors to get what I want would be no different than them cheating on tests to get their desired results.

well, i had my first fill yesterday. can't sleep tonight. between the gurgling, and my port area hurting it was a lost cause. Plus, i had driven straight back from florida (14 hours) and the nurse looked like I was being ridiculous when i suggested the 2 lb gain might be my stinkin swollen ankles.

is this normal?
Marine mom replied to smitten kitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow, i couldn't do this without some of those foods. Beans aren't even a full Protein unless you add rice. Maybe tofu. Even though soft it would be less of a slider than the chilli. -
The funky tummy look goes away. I promise. Mine looked like something from Alien.

chicken gum.

AE, I talked with my doc about my theory about this. He said/agreed that when we start eating foods, the initial weight that comes is the weight that is that water weight we lose really quickly. KWIM? Especially traveling, I have always had to watch for swelling, etc. I was traveling with my sweetie this weekend too.:wink2: I had to get some information, because I am heading to Florida this week, and don't want to gain. I won't be heartbroken if I don't lose, though. You sound like you are doing awesome, btw!
-
yes. they are on my doc's list.
-
thanks! i thought maybe i was just weird.

i guess that i am opposite a lot of you. I don't seem to have restriction, and am really glad. It is a comfort to me that if I were to have problems with fills, etc. that at least normal is still an option. Frankly, I am losing slowly but steadily, and that has been my goal all along. i know how to lose weight. I don't know how to keep it off, and really that is what I see my ideal function for my band.

Losing my patience!!!!
Marine mom replied to new_journey4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How funny. Hopefully you can lose a bit as you go along. i'm not where I was hoping to be, but i'm ahead of where I was! Now, I have to admit, I'm a bit worried about still feeling a bit weak. I've 1 1/2 weeks to build up some energy!
