  1. Happy Birthday FoxTerp!

  2. Happy 42nd Birthday FoxTerp!

  3. Hey guys! Just found this thread! Where have I been, ha. I was banded April 6. I have lost 18.8 lbs so far (hey every ounce counts, LOL). I have been a little frustrated with the slow weight loss. Lately .5 per week. I now it is in the right direction but... One thing I think is odd, my pants are so baggy everywhere EXCEPT my waist! I feel like my stomach is bloated or something - anyone else? Still also struggling with old habits and emotional eating. Glad I found you guys!
  4. Hey, I'm a sign language interpreter too...and I just met another interpreter on here last week. Strange. I wonder how many of us are on here.

    A question for you all

I have that too. Also have like a hard part on my stomach after I eat!? Let us know what your Dr. says. I thought it was very odd as well!

    Port pain?

I just saw the Dr. today and asked the same question. He said that the port is sewn to the muscle and will be sore for quite some time. Especially when you engage in activities that use that muscle. He said that when you stand the port may feel as if it has moved. I had my surgery 4/6 and I am still tender. My port is bellow my bellybutton to the left (different than some other Dr's) So that muscle is used a lot and I had the same worries as you. :grouphug: Good luck, and Lola is correct if you are concerned call you Dr. They understand. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

    1 Step Closer in Raleigh

Hey Chad, Congrats on the approval! I think there is a time limit from the time you get approved and surgery date - make sure you ask - just in case! :blushing: It took me about a week to get back to work, I also had a hernia repair at the same time, so not sure if that makes a difference. I can understand not wanting to interfere with your education. If I could have worn sweat pants to work I would have been back sooner! LOL! The worst part for me was my pants hitting the incision. So if you can wear sweats you will be golden! Ha! I had mine done on a Thurs and was back to work Wed. I think. Not too bad Congrats again and feel free to contact me anytime! (foxterp@me.com) It will be great to have local support!! Have a good one!!

    BMI 39-bcbs of north carolina

I was banded by Dr. Moran too. I had a quick turn around once all my evals etc was done. I would say it was like 2 weeks. BCBS approved me in like two days... guess I had a lot of comorbilites, ha. Good luck!! Keep us posted!

    1 Step Closer in Raleigh

Hey guys, I know you posted this a while ago but I too was banded by Dr. Moran. I would love to keep in contact with the two of you for some local Raleigh support! I was banded April 6 and have lost 16lbs. This seems slow to me but I have not been exercising like I should! I started going back to the gym this week! yay me! How are you guys doing?
  10. I had both done as well. Surgery for both went well. I am so happy I got the hernia fixed! No more heart burn!! Good luck!

    jeans and port

Thanks so much for bringing this topic up! I was banded April 6. I am just now wearing regular pants to work ie. not sweat pants! and at the end of the day I am so sore! I don't go back to the Dr. until the 15th. I think I know where my port is but I am not really sure. My abdomen still feels swollen. Is that normal too? Most of my pants are really loose in the legs but still snug on the waist.. Thanks for all of the advice!

    New and feeling needy

I am newly banded and know the feeling well, although I do not have children. I am not gonna lie - it is not easy! It is worth it to stick to it! I drank the EAS Protien shakes (low carb ones) they are pretty filling and don't taste bad. I felt it made it much easier to start eating healthier after that part was done - I felt a lot better too! Cleanes your body. You can do it! Complain away - we all did!

    BMI 39-bcbs of north carolina

I have BCBS of NC. I was just banded April 6th. BMI about 40 with PCOS, High BP etc. They do want to see 5 years of weight history from your Dr. I had no problem getting approved because of my comorbitities. Your Dr. will give you a good idea if you will be approved or not when you make your first appointment. Good luck, give it a shot and see what happens! Let us know how it goes!
