  1. Happy 33rd Birthday skinnybyrd!

  2. Ok I am 3 week post surgery and everything has been going great. I am still on my mushy diet and last night went to dinner with my husband. I think I overdid it a bit but not horribly. I did have 3 glasses of wine throughout the night. Well at about 3 am this morning I woke up and I am terribly sick. I am vomiting and have diarhea. This has gone on all night and still is this morning. I can't keep water down. I don't think I have a fever. Have I caused a problem with my band or is it more likely that I am sick? Thanks for your help!

    Pizza Soup Recipe

Well I had some of this today and thought it was the best thing ever and had to share it with you all! Disclosure: I have been on nothing but a liquid Protein shake diet for the past three weeks so this may taste much better to me than others! 1 can tomato Soup 4 tbls evaporated milk in the soup can and then fill the rest with Water 2 ounces (1/2 cup) grated mozzarella cheese itallian seasoning to taste Heat soup, milk, and water until it begins to boil. Remove from burner and stir in cheese and seasoning. FYI: You could probably use skim evaporated milk but I didn't have any. 1/2 cup serving = 122 calories, 6g of protein, 5 grams of fat, and 7 grams of sugar Enjoy!

    Milk of Magnesia MISTAKE

Thank you everyone for all of your support. I am doing just fine now and everything is back in working order!
  5. Oh Thank you. It is much better today. In fact yesterday and today I have not had to use pain meds during the day. I didn't really receive any information about the hernia surgery and did not even know that I had the hernia. So I am not sure what that does to your recovery rate or what differences you need to pay attention to. When are you getting banded?

  6. Hi,

Sorry to hear about the pain you are in. Hang in there...it will get better...I too have a hiatal hernia that I am hoping can be fixed when I am banded.

  7. Well I just wanted to forewarn people about a recent mistake I made! In the paper work I had from the doctor's office it said to take some milk of magnsesia for constipation that commonly occurs after surgery. Well it did not say how much so I just took it based on the directions from the bottle which said to take 2-4 tbls. So I took some at night and some the next morning! Huge Mistake! It has been awful and painful! When I looked more closely in some of my other materials I noticed that it said to only take about 1tsp! Everything I eat is coming out of me in a very painful fashion. I am worried that the cramping will cause problems for my hernia that is fixed. I am so mad at myself as I feel if I would be doing much better right now if I had not done this!! Anyways I am hoping this goes away soon and my life become manageable again. I feel like I totally set myself back here!

    It's All About You!!

All About Me :cool2: Where do you live? Arlington, TX How old are you? 29 years Are you married, dating, significant other, partnered? I have been married for 8 years (was a size 6 when I was married), lucky for me my husband has always been supportive and never negative about my weight Any children? 1 daughter 10 years of age Grandchildren? Nope Pets? Velvet and Speckle (kitties) that are currently locked out of my bedroom to keep them from jumpting on my stomach! Currant Health Morbidities? None, trying to prevent them from happening What are your greatest Fears? Failing especially after the accoutnability I have set up. I decide to be completely open to everyone about this procedure and I just do not want to feel any more embarassment and shame other than what I have already endured What is your weight loss short term goals and Long term goals? I have a wedding to go to in Septembter and would love to feel good about myself and be able to buy a dress from a non plus size store!! Long term is to lose 137 pounds! List at least one thing you want to do/wear/eat/buy when you reach your goal? My husband and daughter are very athletic and I cannot wait until I can do more with them. My husband competed in a mud run here which is a crazy run and military style obstacle course. He did it with all of my friends from work and all I could do was watch. There is another one in November, and I would love to be able to try to do it with my husband or at least look like I could compete in it!!

Would they cancel surgery for a runny nose?

Oh NO! I started worrying also right before of all the possible things that could go wrong and have them cancel the surgery. I am not sure but I would think that as long as you don't have a fever, it wouldn't matter.
  11. Well I am 10 days in on the liquid diet and surviving! I go into surgery on Monday. I am really excited and nervous!

WOW Almost MAY 1st - How is Everyone doing?

AHHHH! I think I feel all of the same things as each and everyone of you. I am finishing up my 10th day of my preop diet which was nothing but 5 Protein shakes a day and I am so proud of myself as I have not cheated once!!! I was worried I could not do it and now low and behold I am almost there! My surgery is on Monday and I am excited and also very scared. The shake diet has been doable, however my doctor wants me to be on the liquid shake diet for two weeks after surgery and then I am put on mushy food for two weeks. And two more weeks of this liquid diet really sounds like HELL!! I really want some food, any food, doesn't have to be fattening food just any type of solid substance that I can put in my mouth!! On another note, my 10 year old old daughter is really wanting to go to the hospital with my husband on that day. Originally, I was thinking she would be better off at school instead of just waiting at the hospital. Also I thought it would be harder on me having her there as I have never had surgery before and I think I woulod just worry about the worst scenario more with her there if that makes any sense. But now she seems to be getting worried and asking a lot of questions. What do you all think I should do, should I let her come to the hospital the day of the surgery? What are others doing with children in the same age range?

    Mood Changes

Update! I am feeling better!! Yay! Hopefully, now I am used to this preop diet and will continue to feel good. Today was much easier than yesterday. Yesterday, I was so tired and I was bloated and gassy I think from changing over to all of this protein. I was like are you kidding me, i have been on a liquid diet for three days and I look fatter!! Today the bloating has gone down and life is good again. I only wish that a glass of wine was on my liquid diet!!
  14. Thanks for the support. Today I am feeling much better!! YAY!! I hope this means I am used to it now and will be much easier. You are right about the mental aspect, I am reallys eeing how much I use food for things other than hunger!
  15. Hello Everypne- I am scheduled with Dr. Kim on May 4th at Wise Regional in Decatur. I would love to stay updated on how you all are doing and what to expect. At the university class on Monday, they told us to the liquid diet for two weeks and then pureed food for two weeks. I don't know how I can survive that if I am not feeling any restriction before my first fill. I just started the 5 shakes a day on Monday and I am still struggling. I do not have much energy. How was that for you all? Did you start to feel better after a few days? Good luck to you all!
