I need help with my ticker. I can't figure out how to update it.I went to edit my signature and that didn't work. Can someone tell me how to maybe put a new ticker on my profile? Thanks

I am 3 weeks post op and I am suppose to be getting on to soft foods now. I am having a lot of trouble with getting foods down.In fact I am having food and liquid intolerances. I definetly can't drink any protein shakes yet. I am still mashing up all of my food or I am trying to eat very soft food.I am still experiencing nausea and sometimes vomiting. Today in fact I was sick twice and also yesterday once in the car. Also 2 of my incisions are infected. Even the day of surgery I was very sick and in a lot of pain. The Dr had to see me in his office that night to remove some of the saline that was placed in my band during surgery. He said I would feel a lot better, but as soon as I got back home I was vomiting again and gut wrenching till the next day.I would like to know if there is anyone else out there having these same problems?:scared2:

angelicforever replied to angelicforever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your replies and ideas. As of today I have lost another 2 lbs. So I guess I am on the right track.Does anyone know how to update your ticker on here?I feel confident that I will get the 30 lbs off by August.I am just going to take one day at a time. Even though I have lost a total of 11 lbs. I feel better already and have a little more energy. I give credit to all the good foods I have been eating and have cut out the bad ones. -
HELP.....at a stand still????
angelicforever posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looking for anyone who can give me some suggestions. I saw my DR on 5/11 and I have to lose 30 lbs by August. I have been following my diet and I have only lost 9 lbs so far. Even though I feel better and my feet do not swell up anymore. I also have more energy. Can anyone tell me how they lost weight before they had to have their surgery. I know I have posted before about shrinking my liver, but I can't find those posts. GRRRRRRRRRR I just feel like I should be losing more weight because my eating habits have changed so much. When I went to the nutritional seminar last week. I told the Dr's I could only eat 2 times a day and have two protein shakes a day. They were such a downer on that !! They want me to eat every 3 hrs. There is no way I can do that. How can you eat if you are not hungry? I have got to have this surgery done in August before my son goes back to school because the hospital is not close and I can't leave him alone. -

need to shrink liver.....help
angelicforever posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am writing to anyone out there to see if anyone is going through what I am right now. My liver is very large at this time. My DR wants me to lose 30 lbs by Aug and also he will put me on a liquid diet 1 week before surgery. Yes, I am on a special diet and protein shakes. I just want to know what others are going through right now. It hurts to press on my stomach where my liver is and he said it's because it's so large. He said there is NO WAY he would do surgery on me right now.I have to wait until Aug due to my ins carrier. So I am following my diet and protein shakes. I just started on Monday. So I am looking for anyone who is new like me and having this same problem or went through the same problem. I am looking for all the help I can can get !!!! -

Yes, I finally had to cave in and eat something.Actually it was something I wasn't suppose to eat.:hurray: It is the only thing I have had all day. We went and got Chinese. I had terriaki chicken and a little rice. So hopefully it won't do too much damage.I will try to drink a protein shake later this evening. If I continue to feel this way through the weekeend I will call the Dr next week. I do feel better then I did most of the day.WOW that's a lot of pills. Does everyone have to take that many supplements? I take enough medicine now as it is. I know I will be coming off a lot of those as the weight goes down.Another thing that is going to be hard is the excercising. I meet with the personal trainer at my Dr's office next and she will set up a work out plan for me. The Dr's office has a gym there. I get to use it for a year. I had to pay an up front fee before I even met with the Dr.It's called the weight mgt program and it does include a lot. It better for the price I had to pay.Keep up the good work!!!!!! :grouphug: -
I went to my first consulatation with my bariatric dr and he said my liver is very large. He is planning for my lap band sugery to be in early August. He wants me to lose 30 lbs by then. WOW !!!!!! He also said that 1 week before surgery he will put me on a liquid diet. Hopefully with the combined my liver will be to a size so he can do the lap band. He gave me a book to read on living a better lifestyle and it has great cookbook in it.I feel it is going to be impossible to lose 30 lbs by August. Today I am cleaning out my refrigerator and pantry to get rid of all the bad stuff. I also have to start drinking protein shakes now. Also he wants me to eat six times a day.Now that is really going to be hard for me. Any suggestions plzzzzzzzzzz??????? :mad2:

Thank you for helping me with that link. I hope I did it right and it shows up...LOL Today has started out to be a horrible day. I have been up since 3am. I have such a migraine and nausea. I tried to eat something, but I just can't.The only thing I can get down is water right now. Yes, I did throw away the twinkies !!!! I am also sweating a lot and feel shakey all over. Is my body going through a withdraw from all the bad foods I was eating.Maybe when I get back from the DR today I will try a protein shake.I have to go to my knee DR. Both of my knees are shot and need to be replaced, but I am too young.I hope once I lose some of this weight that my medical problems will start to go away and I also can get off some of my meds.Tonight is the night I was going to try and eat fish even though I don't like it.So we will see. Do you have to take a muti vitamin daily? Another thing I am not happy with these surprises. I have to pay out of pocket for a psych consult and a nutritionist consult.I also have to start attending lap band support groups and I have to have proof that I went when I go back to see the DR on 6/12. -

need to shrink liver.....help
angelicforever replied to angelicforever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is great getting all of these suggestions. It seems everyone has done something different. I guess every Dr has their own way of doing things. I just hope what I am doing is right and I lose the weight. I will go on a full liquid diet 1 week before my surgery. Another thing that is bothering me is surprises. I have to pay out of pocket for a nutritionist consult and a psych evaluation. I also have to attend a nutrition support group and a lap band support group before I meet again with my Dr 6/12.Then I have to continue with the lap band support group for a while.Do you take a multi vitamin daily? I also want to know what fruits to stay away from?I know this is going to be hard because I have to cook for my 16 yr old son also. Like I said before he is overweight and he wants to lose weight, but I don't want him to eat the way I am doing right now.I just told him that things will change around here and the foods will be different. No more snacks or fast food...... -

Yes, I am going to stick to the diet my DR gave me and some how I will get those shakes down. I am sure I will get used to them soon. I kinda of wish I got a different flavor.I don't want to go into surgery and end up not having it done. I can see how you would be dissapointed.I am not a big fish eater. What do you mean by you cheated? It which way did you?My son still has a box of twinkies and boy do I want to tear into them, but I won't.I might try that Gorton's Fisherman's fish filet and see if I like it. I am going to try and stay on high proteins, low carbs and lots of green vegs.....Do you eat any fruit? -

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. Congratualtions on your weight loss. What brand of protein shakes are you on and do you add anything to them to flavor them up any? I am drinking chocolate right, but it's hard to get down. I want to add a banana, but I don't think I am allowed to have bananas...The DR wants me to eat 3 meals a day and he gave me a book and cookbook to follow and man some of those recipes are something. For one thing a lot of work and a lot of money. I don't want to be spending a whole lot of money to be making fancy meals. I know he wants me to follow them, but what can I do? The meals look YUMMY !!!!! I guess I could just use them as a guide line.I also have to remember that I have to cook for my son as well. -

Thank you for all of your replies. It has been a real big help to hear from others. Right now I am eating 3 meals a day with 2 protein shakes a day. My son who is 16 and also is overweight is FINALLY giving me support and he said he wants to lose weight with me ... YEAH !!!!! Since I started on Monday and I also cleaned out my refrig and pantry.Goodbye to all the goodies. The past 2 nights I have noticed that my feet didn't swell as bad. I have also given up salt. I love Mrs Dash the spicey ones. I gave all of my food that I got rid of to a shelter for women. The protein shakes are something I have to get used to because they do not taste all that great, but I can deal.If you have any other suggestions for me I would really appreciate it. Especially what to stay away from. I know I have to cook more now because I didn't do a lot of cooking before and I know that is going to make a difference.I always took the easy way out like pre packaged meals, frozen meals, fast food etc.....Oh YES>>>>> the sweets I am going to miss a lot. I am trying fat free and sugar free jello pudding and it's pretty good.Congratulations to you all on your success.I hope to hear more from you all. -
I don't think I have ever told you my name.... It is Annette and I am from Delaware.

Hi :smile2: I am scheduled for my seminar next week.I just hope I qualify for the procedure.I have a lot of medical issues and take a lot of meds.I did find out that my medicare will pay for the procedure and my mother who lives in Australia is also going to help me out with the cost.:tt1: I have been reading a lot of other peoples stories and it's nice to know I am not alone out there.Other people have the same worries that I do.Some times I just feel so alone. Wishing anyone who is about to go through the journey well.

Paula, I just wanted to let you I went to the seminar last night and it went great. The DR stayed after the seminar to answer any questions and of course you know me I had some.He said I shouldn't have any problems with getting the lapband done. I have had a lot of the pre op stuff done already. So that's good. I have an appt with the DR on 5/11 to get things rolling. I am looking for the surgery to be the end of July or early August.Medicare requires you to wait 90 days.I went to my family DR today and he went over some labs with me he went nuts on me.Everything is out of wack with my chol and my liver. So he changed my meds and my blood pressure was sky high today. It has never been that high before. So there is another new med.He is really happy that I am getting the lap band done. So woooooohoooooooo starting my journey.

angelicforever replied to angelicforever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you so much for your replies. The seminar went great. The DR stayed afterwards to answer any questions. It looks like I will not have any problems. The only thing is I have to wait 90 days due to ins. Which is fine because by the time everything is done it will be here. My first Dr appt is 5/1/09.I love to read everyone success stories. Please keep them coming. -
I am so excited ..... I am going to the seminar today. So hopefully this will be a step in the right direction. I am a little nervous and I don't know why.

Paula, I have reading a lot of blogs and the forums. I have read some horror stories and and good ones. Did you have to have any pre op testing done to see if you were a canidate? I have read some people had to have an upper GI. Are you taking the protein supplements twice a day? If so where do you get yours from? Did you experience any problems following surgery with gas and bloating?Does the fills hurt? The clinic that I am going to requires me to pay $2500 up front for their weight mgt program. I will find out more about that on Wednesday.Ins does not pay for this portion. This is out of pocket. If I am asking too many questions please tell me.If I may ask how much did you weigh before you had your surgery?Right now I am 45 and weigh 333 lbs. So I am so ready for this life change. I just have not been able to do it on my own. It's always been a yo yo diet.Take care and hope to hear back from you.
