Has anyone experienced any stabbing pain around the far left surgical hole?, under the left breast? When I start to get hungry, it really hurts and won't stop until I eat. DH had to finish supper tonight, so I could rest. After I ate, I was fine. ofps

Hi all. Think I've found my place. Banded on June 15, Dr Stewart, Topeka, Ks. How's everyone doing that had surgery? Problems, weight lost, etc. It's too far for me to go to support group, so I'm relying on those of you that want to talk. ofps

I seem to have the same thing. AFter the first or second bite, anything will go down. I have noticed the first few bites go down better if I chew more. Dumb question, what happened to the forum for over 50bmi? I just posted a couple days ago, now can't find the forum! Am I going bonkers? Also, what is PB mean? Don't understand some of the terminology yet. ofps

Hello all, I was banded in Ks, June 15, just found this group. Didn't know there were that many in KS. What part of Ks did you get banded? The doctor's name you are using doesn't sound familiar to me. Does my doctor have to be Hoehn to participate in this forum? Can't get to Topeka to the support groups very often, so look forward to being in an online group. ofps

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

You all are great motivaters. The pictures were awesome, you are so cute, and the weight drop really shows. You'll have to excuse me as I get used to the site and find my way around. There's a lot of areas on here and I get lost. Can someone tell me how to start a ticket tape on the bottom of my messages? Robyn, where do you live. This clothes idea sound really cool. When I loose, I have some really nice stuff to give, and don't want to buy a lot for only a short period of time. My luck, you live on the coast somewhere. ofps -
I was banded in Topeka, Ks. Everyone has been great, including the surgeon. I'm almost healed and it's only been a little over one week. I go back on Friday for check up, and probably will be starting real food (oh I do hope so). As far as the carrot cake, I have great recipes, but shouldn't eat any of them! ofps

I'm in creamy liquids stage, one week postop. I make really good soups, then run through the blender. I made chicken pot pie for DH, put in blender with more milk, and yummy. Another I used refried beans, beef base, frajita seasoning, onion powder, velveeta. I have protein shakes, but tend to be sooooooo hungry, I slosh around filled with soup. I don't know if the soups I'm making are doctor approved, I wasn't told what to eat, only creamy soups and other liquids. ofps

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

So glad for this link. I was beginning to think I was the only one with a large amount to loose. My BMI was well over 50 before banding on June 15, 06, just a little over a week ago. I know what it is like to be 120 lbs, my goal, I was there in High School and for a couple years when I was younger and doing heavy work, but that was long ago. I'm 5'2" with small frame and this weight of 312 is tooooo much for me to handle. I weighed at 330 preop. 160' was most of the time, but after other health problems, I've been upper 200 and over 300 for several years now. I'm looking forward to a loosing scale. ofps -
This has definitely been controversary. I'm not new with a weight problem. Cortisone has also played a role, but only to create a verasous apetite. I am the one who ate my way here. I started the procedures the gastric bypass the first of February 06. During my psyc eval, I met a young woman, who was planning on gaining 40 more lbs to qualify for the procedure. WITHOUT trying, I gained another 60 lbs from Feb to surgery (July). Clearly she had a weight problem even though she didn't have near what I had to loose. Yes, her insurance was going to pay for the surgery, and mine didn't, but I don't begrudge her for trying to get help. Every surgery comes with 'baggage' and risk. This is a life changing procedure, not a walk in the park. Every doctor probably has certain criteria that has to be met before the operation can be performed, and if those with less than 100 lbs to loose meet this criteria, then that's their choice. I never 'believed' in cosmetic surgery, but when I loose enough, I'm planning on getting a tummy tuck! bet you sweet a! I don't begrudge anyone who feels the need to inprove the quality of their life, if they need to gain alittle to do it........eat an extra cinnamon roll for me too. I can't have them anymore! ofps

What is sliming? I haven't heard this before. Only banded for a week now, but no difficulties either. Just learning. I'm supposed to be on soft food still, but sick of cream soups and puddings, protein shakes, etc. I can eat mexican and ground beef (very little) . Have only eaten other stuff that could be put through a blender. Don't want to vomit, so will take it slowly, but noticed posting commenting about sliming and then vomiting.???:help:
