7 weeks for first fill is this normal?!?!
thinneranniesoon replied to lisafire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 6/9, my first fill was 7/27 and my next will will be on 8/28. I can't wait as my band was empty at surgery and my first fill was 4.25cc. I eat approx 1 cup per meal, and am hungry 2 hours later, I am hoping that I get at least another 2cc's, so I can get some restriction. My doc does the fills with fluro, so at least we will know if it is too tight before I leave. I do not know if I am losing weight, as I do not own a scale, I only weigh at the doctor office so that I do not become dependent on the scale. Shoot, I had to have my boyfriend put away the measuring tape, because I wanted to do my measurements every day. -
BAD fill - Is it possible?? -PLS HELP!
thinneranniesoon replied to abcangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill on 7/27 after being banded on 6/9. My next fill is next week 8/28. Doc put in 4.25cc in my 10cc band, as a first fill and nothing was in from surgery. He orignally put in 5ccs but it was a bit tight so he stopped at 4.25. I was tight the first day or 2, then back to normal. Hoping that next week the fill will work for me. -
question about protica protein bullets
thinneranniesoon replied to cduval04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mix it with a water bottle of flavored crystal lite. I do that with the new whey bullets and it is great. Walmart has them for 1.97 each, so I buy 10 every payday, then when i need some extra protein I have it, I get the fruit punch and mix it with either fruit punch, cherry berry, cherry limeade or just plain lemonade. It isn't that bad that way, I could not imagine drinking it like a shooter, I did that one time and said never again. -
weight loss furstrations
thinneranniesoon replied to simsbjcc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on June 9, so far have had 1 fill of 4.25cc's and getting my next fill on the 28th. At first i was full at 1/2 cup, then a cup, then i had my fill, and was back to 1/2 cup, I am up to 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups now, and not noticing weight loss. I do measure weekly, and not changed in 2 weeks. I don't own a scale so I only weigh at the docs. According to them i have lost 20 lbs since pre-op. Hope next fill does something for me. -
So, I had my band surgery on 6/9, had my first fill of 4.25cc on 7/27. I called and scheduled my next fill for 8/28. Hoping to get some restriction this time, as right now, am able to eat up to 2 cups of food and am hungry again a couple hours later. Nothing like the 4 hours apart that the doc said to look for. I do not own a scale so can only weigh at the docs office, I am taking measurements weekly though. I am down a total of 3 inches in my breast, 4 in my waist and 5 in my hips. And as of last doc appt on 7/27 I was down 20 lbs also. YAHOOO, but I really need to get some restriction, the hunger hurts cause I then want to snack. I drink another bottle of crystal lite, but that doesn't really fill me up, since it runs right through, literally.

I think that just about sums up my question. I want to do what is right, but they didn't tell us this part. How many carbs are too many carbs a day? -

Missy, if you don't mind me asking, when did you have your sugery? I see you have lost 40 lbs so far. Does that include pre-op loss? -
How many carbs is to many carbs a day?
thinneranniesoon replied to thinneranniesoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANK YOU EVERYONE... Moderation I really believe is the key to life. Before surgery I was able to sit down and eat a full plate of pasta with a full double chicken breast. Now, I can eat 1/2 of one of the chicken breasts and I am full. Today I made a wonderful pot roast, ate the roast, 2 carrots, 3 green beans and a potatoe, I felt completely full and it was all in 3/4 cup. I emailed my surgeon to get his take on this, and will find out soon, I also asked for a 2nd fill, so that I can get this motor moving. I do read boxes now, and actually go by serving size, and usually am full before I actually it a full serving, which is pretty awesome. My band does seem to be working. Last night however, we had company and I made chicken breasts, bf wanted tater tots and I make pork n beans, let me tell you, it will be a cold day in hell when I try tater tots again. I had 4, and they did not sit well. I excused myself, and went to the bathroom, one cough and they were gone. An hour late I had a protein shake and then nursed myself all day today, until dinner time. I confess I might not have chewed them well enough, we were talking and eating, and watching a good movie, but geesh, that just really felt uncomfy. I hope to never do that again, and I will be sure to continue to cut my food little pencil top eraser size. -
How many carbs is to many carbs a day?
thinneranniesoon replied to thinneranniesoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am asking mainly because I would like to have a couple of oyster crackers in that bowl of chili. Or a potato or 2 from that pot roast. Not to worried about pasta yet, however I do admit to having had some of the dreamfields low carb high protein pasta that i made macaroni and cheese with a couple of weeks ago. I ate 2 bites of it, and it was really good. I am losing, and i am watching what I eat, but would like a little variety. as far as the macaroni and cheese goes, I used fatfree cheese and skim milk, and my daughter had been begging me for it since she came home from college for the summer, so I caved. I will keep it down, and next time at the doc I will ask them, i just emailed yesterday for an appt for another fill. I am currently at 4.25 in my 11cc band. -

Does anyone feel like life with the band is too hard?
thinneranniesoon replied to lindsayb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the best friend part. i was banded on 6/9, one month ago yesterday. normally k and I would get together whether at her home or mine, just hang out. We have only done that once since surgery. She has always said the surgery was not for her, and i respect that decision, I didn't tell her I was having it until it was approved, and scheduled, but it has just been strange. I am living with her brother n law, so that is even stranger, as we all used to do things together alot. I was off work for 4 weeks after surgery, now back to work for a week, the time that we used to hang out on Fridays, I am working again, however the few times we have been together, she is the one that brings the surgery up, not me, I don't want to make her feel bad, or anything. The numbers aren't dropping much yet except in inches, not pounds, but I again, don't bring that up. We have been friends for 15 years, and I did tell her before hand that my biggest fear is losing her friendship, she said that will never happen, but ... -
Anyone else banded with no fill?
thinneranniesoon replied to greta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No fill here, and I am scheduled for my first fill next week. I can't wait because I tell you, I am wanting to eat everything. Today I had 1/3 of a chicken breast with some spag sauce. NO PASTA, even thought I wanted it, NO GARLIC ROLL, even though I wanted it. But I did have my tea, we were at my favorite resturaunt. I also had 4 oz cottage cheese for lunch, and then I had some granola with yogurt for dinner. i really wasn't hungry, but I knew i needed to have something. I really have to make myself drink the protein but i am so sick of it, that I really don't want it. I am buying a new magic bullet set this weekend since my cups have all disappeared, then i can at least make smoothies with the protein, and maybe get it down more. -
What Happens When You Reach Goal?
thinneranniesoon replied to emmylou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I reach goal I will be going on a 7 night cruise on the NCL Epic, the newest ship they have coming out next year, and it will be in a suite. I am saving now, as I hope to hit goal next year, just had surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow. -

thinneranniesoon replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Post op pain..is it from gas?
thinneranniesoon replied to daco525's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band done on 6/9 and am still experiencing the gas in the left shoulder. Only once in a while, not all day, mainly at night, right before going to bed. -
It's over!!!
thinneranniesoon replied to updegraff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We can be band sisters, I was also banded on the 9th. I did get a pic in front of the hospital on the way in, and every month when I go back for my appts I will take another. As that is when I will get on the scale also, since I do not own one. Didn't have many gas problems yet, some slight pain in left shoulder, I am releasing gas without a problem. Haven't even taken a gasex strip yet. -
I was banded 6/9, was put on phase 2 upon discharge from the hospital yesterday so I am now on applesauce, protein shakes, soups/ broths, crystal lite and water, popsicles. All sugar free of course. that applesauce was so good yesterday, and my daughter and I shared a can of chicken noodle soup today, i got the broth she got the chicken/noodles.

Looking for honesty here...
thinneranniesoon replied to elgrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i received my band on 6/9 and i knew that it was going to be a slow going process. However from everything I read/studied, this was also the safer of the methods, and hopefully i can tone while losing and not need plastics later. Where if you lose it to fast, it is pretty much inevitable. -
lap band pain after surgery
thinneranniesoon replied to andy343858's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so far my only true pain is at the port incision. I was banded the day before you. I hope it gets better for you. -
And proud of it. Thought I would let everyone know, i have joined the losers bench. 6/9/09 was my new birthday, i am down 10 lbs since my pre-op 2 week liquid diet started, and on my way to recovery. Spent 2 nights in the hospital, laproscopic lap band, and have started my walking. Gas isn't bad yet, taking my meds, doc gave me hydroconone for pain and nexium for antacid, so that I don't develop ulcers. I make 24oz of protein shakes the night before, and sip it all day, I love the GNC Banana Creme. I also make my bottle of sugar free hawaiian punch with 1/2 a New Whey. i am for sure if nothing else going to be sure to get all my protein. I walk 3 times a day outside not sure exactly the distance, but it takes about 15 minutes depending on how slow I walk. I will make it longer as I get my strength back. I am determined to make this work. I have been watching discovery health with the boyfriend, and Big Medicine has been on, as well as some other shows with people having the surgery, and he just thinks it is amazing, of course he is like 6'5 and weights 150 soaking wet. He is very supportive of me, to the extent that he read all my postop papers and if it isn't on there, I can't do it. I mentioned showering today, he said yes, a shower, but make sure no bath, doc says no bath. He really cares.

sleeping with the band? and a liquid question
thinneranniesoon replied to andy343858's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded the day before you 6/9 congrats. I can sleep on my right side, port is on left, and it is very comfy, i do put a pillow under me though. i am not a back sleeper and once i moved for the first time in the hospital out of bed, I could not get back in the comfy position i had been in for many hours. I asked the surgeon the next morning, and he said that sleeping on right side wouldn't be a problem, while left side might hurt a little bit still. So far the only incision that hurts is the port incision, and I am feeling pretty good. -
Suggestions Please On Best Tasting Protein Shakes
thinneranniesoon replied to slim2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Banana Cream is amazing, and I purchased the Cookies and Cream yesterday, will try that one later today. Surgery is in less than 48 hours. -
I feel awful, is this normal?
thinneranniesoon replied to Ridgies Rock's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just finished day 5 and surgery is June 9. i had a massive headache come day 3. Started doing an extra shake and then had my daughter pick me up french onion soup from Panera, they did strain it for me, AND left off the bread, so it was really the broth only, but oh so good. My headache went away, and day 4 and 5 I had soup also. No headache. I think it is just the body detoxing and getting used to the change. I too use the GNC protein, as well as a bunch of protein mixes that purchased at Bariatriceating.com i love the banana creme protein shakes from GNC, and I am mixing them with fat free milk.
