Sorry if this is too personal but what is your bmi and height? I am concerned because I feel that your denial process may be similar to mine. I am hoping to start a new job at Chase and I hear they have great ins. that cover Lap band. I would like to know what they discussed with you during your approval process. I had high blood pressure in the spring, PCOS for 15 yrs., & acid reflux. I am right at 40 bmi and I'm 5'2.. let me know what challenges your expirenced. I really appreciate it!!

Hey Tina 26-30lbs...thats awesome! You have done quite well on your own meanwhile I am eating what I know I can't after tonight lol. I hear ya...I knw how folks can go into the doc office and fake the funk. I have been planning this for the last year. I starting seeing a therapist last January which was actually quite helpful and did the whole Weight Watchers for six months but also went to a bariatric doctor www.doctorbeale.com. I am sure there is someone in your area in his book he suggest going to www.asbp.org to find a doctor in your area...the ones in the book are not near to you...Atlanta, NY, Michigan is all thats listed. I really hope you don't have to self-pay...thats a lot of money but if thats what makes you happy then by all means DO IT! I have Aetna and had no problems and I know a LOT of folks who had Kaiser...everything will work out. Stay in touch!

Hey Trece, what up? Thanks for the concern and all your info. I have been on a high protein diet and drop 26-30 lbs already. I dont think it's how much I weigh it was the coordinators explained to me I had to have some of the symptoms like sleep, apnea/acid reflux, high cholestoral, diabetes, high blood pressure ect., I am with BC/BS and a lot of people on my job has hd the surgery using the same insurance company. I told the truth about what was going on with me medically and got refused and others lied and got the surgery. Aint that something? I know at opens season I can change, but the others are about the same (aetna,GEHA, Kiaser Perm,) I have considered going to mexico for the surgery at a well know facility and I have done my homework and checked them out and done a investigative check on the doctor and or hospital. I have medical records from previous doctors about my weight loss history. What medically supervised diet are you referring to? Hit me back, Take Care Tina

Hey gir! I don't think I responded 2 ya. Sorry. I am great! I was approved yesterday 4 surgery on the 14th of July. I am sorry 2 hear that ur appointment didn't go 2 well. How much more do u need 2 B to have insurance pay 4 it? I think its a great idea 2 go 4 another insurance company at open enrollment. In the meantime if u haven't already tried a medically supervised diet on ur own u should. Most insurance companies require that...before I went to the surgeons office I had 6 months from a bariatric doctors diet program as well as 6 months of WW...I was making sure they wouldn't turn me down. Do u know what ur company offers for other ins.? Can u c the plans to check if they cover the Lapband? Do u have a multidisciplinary office near u? Sorry for all the questions but I know how devestating it can b...it took me 12 years to get approved (after giving up so many times). Let me know if u want to talk and keep your head up.
Trece :wink2:

Hello Psuki, how are you? I hope that everything is going great. I have a few questions. I need to know the name/number of the doctor you used in mexico and the facility where the operation was performed. I have been turn down twice here in texas and informed I did NOT qualify. I am going to have to self-pay; my insurance BCBS (they suck) will not pay because I am not a canidate for labpand. I am really upset and totally pissed. I was out of $90 each time for those tinika test and stress test and program fees and I wasn't even accepted into the program. I even asked for that part of the fee back (lol) I am going to have it done, it's just a matter of time. Just hit me back----- Take Care, T

Hello "09 how are you? Im not so good right now. The appointment was not in my favor. I am being taken thru the ringer with the insurance, because I dont have sleep abn, my bmi was too low among other things. I spoke to the coordinator at precision surgery and she said that from her experience w/ insurace companies that I may have to be a self pay. I have BC/BS (High Option) so I pay for it and they take a chunk oot bi-wkly for it and the coordinator doesnt think that they will pay for me to have a band. i totally pissed and think about dismissing my insurance at open season.
Hit me back.

I actually had Dr. Frank Felts do both my surgery and my husband surgery. It is just now 1 year for both of us and we are happy as can be. We were cash pay through True Results. Dr. Felts is no longer working with True Results and has own private practice, but he was fantastic.
