Hey all! Nice to see some fellow wisconsinites on here! I'm Crystal, I live in the franklin/muskego area (south west of milwaukee), and I was banded by Dr. Zane Prewitt in Men. Falls. Great surgeon and group. Nice to meet you all.

Just imagine the potential you have to help inform others about this tool. You never know who elses life you may change. I had a good friend that had lapband before me that helped me with all my questions. Goodluck to you as you begin this journey. You just may be the role model for someone else you may never meet. Enjoy the ride!

I am a mom to a crazy wonderful active 4 year old, wife to an absolutely wonderful man, and an RN. I have been a cardiac nurse for 7 years, then move to the clinic setting in family practice. I went from there to education (with the same company), teaching new employees, and in Jan. I accepted a promotion working with chronic diseases, currently diabetes. This is exciting because I impacts quality of patient care. But my next goal is to become an NP in family practice. Back to school I go!

Agnonizing stomach/back pain. Went to ER
Leifysmom replied to Shrinkerbell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I could describe the pain you guys are describing BEFORE my lap band surgery, I did indeed have gallstones, and would pass them before they would do the ultrasounds, they couldn't find them. I then had a more advance test, a HIDA scan, and that too was normal. After serveral ER trips, (morphine was a GODSEND), and finally a random comment to my lapban surgeon during my preop, he did another ultrasound and finally caught the stones before I had another attack and passed another stone. Out came my gallbladder at the same time as I had my lapband placed. Significant weight loss can induce gallstones. Be persistant and call you docs again, it can progress to inflamamation or infection and be worse. Good luck. Crystal -

Upper right Abdomanl pain
Leifysmom replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you still have your gallbladder you should call your doc, weight loss can cause gallstones. Gallbladder attacks can range from mild to severe pain. If you do not have your gallbladder I would just FYI him as a new symptom. Good luck hope all is well. Crystal -

Forgive Me Lap Band Goddess
Leifysmom replied to cruzlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think once once of cream cheese is horrible either, it does have some protein as well. I on the other hand ate a cupcake that my mother and son made yesterday. But it was really yummy and a rare occurance, and I worked out, so it all comes out in the wash. Don't beat yourself up. Before surgery If it were me I would have eaten a whole pack of cream cheese on a binge or maybe evean 2-3 of those cupcakes. It's still better than what we used to do pre surgery. Hang in there!!! -
We do a ton of hiking, I occasionally go to bars with my husband, but we really have a sitter, today we went to a mud bog (4 wheeling), and in the morning-pumpkin farm. Just way more active even with just a little weight loss.

I love convienence, I do alot of Boca Burgers (quick in the micro) something like 17gm protein, also love the fish tacos, greek yogurt, eggs, chicken breast and ground turkey breast is another staple in our home.
